the astrology of august 2025 | what's now awake won't be easily put back to bed, challenges that lead to improved outcomes, relationships are highlighted UPDATED

Let's keep in mind the big picture stuff - the outer planets, in various states of direct and retrograde motion, are all in sync with each other. Some things won't be stopped at this point/they are meant to happen.

Saturn and Neptune are traveling together until they meet up in February 2026 and then start to move apart. This is the 'reality becoming unreal' and the 'unreal becoming reality' stuff.

There is stuff we just CAN'T KNOW while Saturn travels with Neptune. We can't be sure, so don't think you are. We can't have all the answers, so don't think you do or someone else does. Having the answers at this point would just muck things up. Imagine being a quarterback about to play a big football game in front of a packed stadium and already knowing the results and how that would change things and the way all the time travel movies always create CHAOS. The North Node is in Pisces - we have to have FAITH.

The first few days of August are all about Venus, our relationships and our resources (and actually with Mars in Libra for six weeks and most of August, the entire month will have these Venusian focuses). Her squares to Saturn and Neptune are CHALLENGING. We can feel what is missing, what is aging, what is dissolving.

Once Mars gets into Libra it's all about Mars, action - and still relationships! - and WAR with Mars in the sign of his detriment/the other (things can get dicey, but we have multiple trines and sextiles and a kite that speak of improved outcomes). Mars in Libra is a complex placement, but he is a team-player/can cooperate, can compromise/negotiate, and dial down danger like a snake charmer. These attributes must be what we need because they are what we have. Use them wisely. We will need to think more about disarming our opponent than arming ourselves. The problems here will be indecision and passive-aggressive crap - the other aspects will help. Berserkers can be in trouble as well as 'sit-this-one-outters' with Mars in an air sign that wants to move things in a new direction.

Keep this in mind.

Then Mercury stations direct (YAY) at 4 degrees Leo as this year's Saturn/Uranus sextile makes one of its EXACT aspects. The next day Venus meets up with Jupiter at 14 degrees Cancer (the United States Sun) - GOOD INDICATORS that we will move on from whatever troubles Mars in Libra activates and that Venus/Jupiter looks very LUCKY. So we will be, too.

We begin and end the month with first quarter Moons, so natural flows of tension/frustration that require our action. Life is moving faster now. Take breaks/breathers as you get them.

Let's unpack the first week!

AUGUST 1ST - 3RD, 2025 | not such easy days, but a rainbow at the end of things

FRIDAY | AUGUST 1ST - First Quarter Moon in Scorpio, Venus squares Saturn and Neptune

The Moon in Scorpio squares the Leo Sun. The Leo Sun wants to have fun, but there is rain on his parade here. Background issues can boil up. What has been stuffed into a corner needs to come out. And with the Venus/Saturn/Neptune at the same time - our relationships and resources are pulled into the mix. Saturn and Neptune are retrograde, so maybe we are feeling nostalgic. Feeling the difference between what we once had and what we now have. Maybe we are feeling alone or old. Maybe there isn't enough money or enough intimacy. Indulging our way out of these feelings will not go well/not feel good. Results for prior indulgences can also show up. The Moon wants intensity and drama will be fed. Best bet because squares require us to do something - face our fears/secrets, be authentic, hold our shape. Saturnian hard aspects always bring reality checks, so we can see what we actually have. There are limits to what we can get right now and that's ok. We can also be feeling tired and under-the-weather now. That's ok, too. Timing is everything. Get some rest and pace yourself.

SATURDAY | AUGUST 2ND - Venus inconjunct Pluto, Mars inconjunct Chiron

More tricky energy with these inconjuncts - rocks and hard places. Disconnects and attempts to help/make things better might feel like they don't. Just know everything won't go perfectly and that's OK. The Moon in Scorpio, past her square to the Sun now will trine Jupiter and sextile Mars, both good aspects and can countermand the other stuff quite a bit especially for more lunar people.

SUNDAY | AUGUST 3RD - Uranus quintile the North Node - the Moon is in sunny Sagittarius now and after her early, early morning (EST) tangle with Uranus/change makes ALL SMOOTH ASPECTS. Plus, we've got the Uranus/North Node quintile - GIFT OF CHANGE that improves our future, at the same time Looks like a good day all around. Take advantage and enjoy it.

AUGUST 4th to 10th, 2025 | a collision course with reality and the dream

WEDNESDAY - Mars enters Libra

FRIDAY - Mars trines Uranus, Mars opposes Saturn retro

SATURDAY - Mars opposes Neptune retro, FULL MOON AQUARIUS

SUNDAY - Mars trines Pluto

WEDNESDAYSo, Mars, having done all the fixing, clean up and detailed work he could possibly do in Virgo, now enters sociable and diplomatic Libra, the sign of the other person, for the first time in almost two years.

Mars rules Aries, the sign of "me" and now here he is in the sign of "we" (which means he is answering to Venus and Venus is in Cancer busy catching up with Jupiter). Mars wants to just go, go, go and in Libra is required to 'see/interact with' the other side of things. There is more flirting than commitment. More passive-aggressiveness than actual fighting. Our actions/passions can get a little more indecisive (the whole - taking both sides into consideration thing coming into play).

Fiery Mars in our collective 7th house of other people means our actions can trigger fast reactions. That whole "I'm rubber. You're glue" thing isn't working. Or maybe it's working backward. We can be extremely effective when we operate THROUGH SOMEONE ELSE. An agent, attorney, someone else to do the talking/dirty work, things like that seem to work better with Mars in Libra. Our actions also IMPACT other people in more visible ways. Keep this in mind.

FRIDAY - SUNDAY - and we could feel this as soon as Mars enters Libra on Wednesday night Mars starts interacting with ALL the outer planets. First he trines Uranus and opposes Saturn.

The opposition to Saturn acts as a STOP SIGN. A reality check. We are CONFRONTED. Or we are confronting. There is an UNBALANCED EXCHANGE of energy here and it pulls us up short. Maybe it's the sense that something isn't working anymore and Libra rules relationships so maybe this comes through other people - expect a mirror.

Then Mars opposes Neptune - expect the FOG. This is a confrontation with what is real and what isn't. What we thought was a sure thing might melt. What we thought was a fantasy might begin to manifest. WHAT DO WE WANT?

With Mars in Libra, this is where we personally, albeit maybe through OTHER PEOPLE or our Libra house theme, pull in the 2025 and 2026 reality dissolving and unreality being made real STORYLINE that is changing everything.

(collectively we can think about the way we are finding out the world doesn't work the way we thought - this isn't because the world is working differently. The world has worked this way for a very long time. We can just SEE IT NOW and this is about the AI revolution/apocalypse is making the unreal real. This is about us waking up, but also about us going to sleep.)

What if the 'dream' is more real than we thought? What if what we thought was real was just a 'dream'? This week marks a pivotal time in that storyline.

Keep in mind Libra is about balance, but this is unlikely to be gentle. Mars (as us) has to navigate this imbalanced energy, not bulldoze his/our way through it.

THE TRINES (to Uranus and Pluto) TELL US THERE IS A WAY THROUGH - WE JUST HAVEN'T THOUGHT OF IT YET. Uranus is about change, THE NEW, groups, the future. In Gemini, he is about communication, thinking, ideas, local community, siblings, tech, transport. Is there something you can do differently? Mars can't beat Saturn and Neptune, but he CAN get around them. Are we going to do this AWAKE (this isn't some political woke stuff, let's not let the media co-op our language) or sleep through the rest of our time here on planet Earth? There is also a trine to Pluto, so maybe stepping into our power is a way through the oppositions. We may have to face DEATH/a loss to do this. Pluto is in Aquarius, so answering to Uranus in Gemini. We are only as healthy as our RELATIONSHIPS.

Be out and about and TALKING. Connect with different people. New ideas, new thoughts.

The Grand Air Trine turning into a Kite tells us everything is more powerful/ready to take off.

Even with the powerful oppositions there is alot of EASE and increased chances for success here.

Let something new emerge. Let something old go.

Also, on SATURDAY - as if enough won't be happening! - the Aquarius Moon reaches 17 degrees and opposes the Sun giving us a Full Moon. The Moon is answering to Uranus in Gemini and Saturn in Aries.

AUGUST 11th to 17th, 2025 | Mercury stations direct, Saturn sextiles Uranus EXACT and our two arguably most beneficial planets get together!

MONDAY - SATURN SEXTILE URANUS, Mercury stations direct, Ceres stations retrograde

TUESDAY - Venus conjunct Jupiter

WEDNESDAY - Mercury sextile Mars

THURSDAY - Venus trine the North Node

On MONDAY - Mercury stations direct in Leo (YAY!), Ceres turns around and Saturn sextiles Uranus for the second of three (last was April 4th and the final will be January 20th, 2026)

Mercury is moving on, and we are, too!

If something has been held up, now and over the next few days as Mercury gets back up to speed is when we can see some headway/get some wind at our back. If an old love/hobby returned during the retrograde here is where we get to see if it will be STICKY. With Mercury direct it will be easier to ask for what we want, stand up/stand out. The Sun will only be in his home sign of Leo for a few more days, so we probably want to take advantage of this. Mercury will start covering totally new ground on August 25th, and that is when this chapter is officially closed. From now until then this is our third and final pass over this territory - our Leo house theme will apply as well as the collective themes of - creativity, recreation, romance, children, pride, ego, our hearts (physical, literal), our relation to royalty/our royal roots.

As Mercury is stepping forward, Ceres is stepping back at 16 degrees Aries. Ceres is about mothering and season/cycles of life situations. She has also been known to work out complicated compromises. In Aries this could be a time - and the retrograde will be when we are applying the "re's" to this situation, reviewing, revising, etc - when we are pushing someone to be more independent/out of the nest or nurturing something ON OUR OWN or in a new way. Ceres will be in Aries until next spring, so this will be a PROCESS.

This is also the day Saturn and Uranus perfect their 2nd of three sextiles. This is the one with Saturn retrograde, so the old rules/authority are applied to what is changing, being revolutionized, updated or innovated. Sextiles are soft aspects/opportunities that require some effort/action. These planets are the co-rulers of Aquarius and having them in a productive aspect with Pluto in Aquarius this year is good news for all of us.

On TUESDAY - Venus catches up with Jupiter for what many astrologers call "the luckiest day of the year". Happening at 14 degrees Cancer which is exact on the United States Sun - royalty, authority, leadership - I hope it is! For all of us we are able to ATTRACT MORE and happening as Venus applies to THURSDAY'S trine to the North Node - best way forward - this 'ATTRACTING MORE/BETTER' is pulling us into the future

WEDNESDAY - Mercury sextiles Mars, so our words/thinking/ideas/conversations (in Leo, so BOLDNESS and courage will apply) are in an opportunistic aspect with our actions, what we do to get what we want. Walk your talk.

THURSDAY - Venus trines the North Node of Fate in Pisces. Now Venus, hot off her meeting with bigger-is-better Jupiter moves into a water trine with our nest path forward. The brakes are off. What we have attracted/are attracting and are attracted to is pulling us into the future. Collectively with Venus in Cancer this will be about home, family, country, mother, safety, security.

The astro looks good this week and I hope Trump gets his summit with Putin/Zelensky!

Weekly Astrology Forecast | August 18th to 24th - BIG week about health and work, the first of TWO New Moons in Virgo, changes to health, work, pets and daily routines

TUESDAY, August 19th - Sun trines Chiron

FRIDAY, August 22nd - Venus squares Chiron, Sun into Virgo

SATURDAY, August 23rd - NEW MOON IN VIRGO (first of two

SUNDAY, August 24th- Sun squares Uranus

TUESDAY - the Sun trines Chiron - confidence/courage/creative expressions/generosity are healing very old wounds. Leaders/mentors can be helpful/healing. This aspect can bring a light to health situations and vulnerabilities so we can SEE THEM. Rewards/a spotlight can come in for healing work/actions.

FRIDAY - as the Sun moves into Virgo, kicking off Virgo season - AND IT'S GOING TO BE A BIG ONE THIS YEAR - Venus, in Cancer squares Chiron. Home, family, real estate, mother/mothering situations can be challenging/create tension. Old family dynamics are triggering. If there isn't an actual health situation going on this will be about old self-esteem issues. Feeling like an outsider. Fears of rejection. Fears around finances and resources. Squares create tension/frustration and require some kind of action. Know everyone's insecurities are being triggered here.

SATURDAY - the first of two New Moons in Virgo this month tells us life is determined to RESET OUR DAILY HABITS - health, work, pets, daily routines. With Virgo small is big and small changes create big results, but this Virgo season will come in with a BANG with the New Moon/Sun's square to Uranus being part of this first lunation (the second New Moon in the third week of September is an Eclipse and the Full Moon that follows this New Moon is an Eclipse). SUDDEN CHANGES. The need for sudden new starts around Virgo themes or our natal Virgo house theme.

Expect a BIG New Moon post next!

SUNDAY - here is where the Sun's square to Uranus becomes exact. This is part of yesterday's New Moon, so pulled into the next two weeks and six months. Again, SUDDEN developments and changes involving health, work, daily habits/obligations/your Virgo natal chart theme. Something could come to light that needs to be fixed ASAP.

Weekly Astrology Forecast | August 25th to August 31, 2025 - all about Venus

Multiple Venusian aspects this week as she moves into Leo, so - money, resources, relationships and women (also Taurus and Libra people) are FIRED UP. As we move toward that Pluto opposition mid-week we might feel like we are waiting for the other shoe to drop/something to blow - and it might, so tread carefully in any explosive situations.

Mostly I think this week screams ENJOY YOUR SUMMER because it is almost over ...

In September I will go back to doing the regular weeklies, some of my summer responsibilities will be over and time freed up - my AWOL days behind us :) After we get through the September Eclipses which will reverberate into October, the rest of the year looks easier for most. Getting Mercury into Virgo next week and then Mars out of Libra - can't wait! - and into Scorpio after the third week of September will greatly help.

For now, this week is a toss up - Venus makes some nice/smooth aspects, but also has that mid-week power struggle with Pluto. We will have to see what we get ...

The Moon is waxing/growing and something in our lives is, too. Be intentional. And keep in mind the New Moon story in play with its square to Uranus - that monkey wrench tossed in. Virgo is mutable earth. STAY FLEXIBLE.

MONDAY - Venus enters Leo, Venus trines Saturn

TUESDAY - Venus sextiles Uranus, Venus trines Neptune, Mercury inconjunct North Nide

WEDNESDAY - Venus opposes Pluto

THIRSDAY - Uranus sextiles Neptune

SUNDAY - Mercury trines Chiron, First Quarter Moon

MONDAY to TUESDAY - Venus enters Leo and trines Saturn and Neptune (both retrograde) and sextiles Uranus. All smooth aspects. Something is a GO.

Venus is the invisible force of attraction - love, relationships, art, friendship. Venus pulls these things together. Venus is always reminding us to honor our natural attractions - the people, colors, tastes, art, animals and interests we are drawn to. Venus (love, money, values) had been somewhat comfy, although quite restrained, in Cancer for the last few weeks. She prioritized security over all else and this kept her safe, but also a wee bit bored. Cancer is ruled by the Moon and a Venus/Moon natal opposition is considered the Madonna/Whore complex in a man's chart - so Venus has probably felt like she was living with her mother-in-law!

With her move into Leo she gets to spread her wings a little (maybe a lot, maybe a whole lot and we do, too!). She leaves her mother-in-law's safe little house with the shuttered windows, central air conditioning, and alarm system maybe where her mother-in-law was paying the rent. "What more could Venus want?", Cancer asks as Venus heads for the door. "Quite a bit MORE!", Venus answers.

She moves into a noisy apartment on the other side of town with curtain-less windows, a fan that wakes the neighbors when their fan isn't waking her, a deadbolt that doesn't quite latch properly and the rent only gets paid if she pays it. Of course this is quite a ROYAL Venus, so maybe she is still figuring out how to get somebody else to pay her rent :) Still, she is standing more confidently on her own two feet (and what lovely feet they are - this is Venus we are talking about!). She is also more competitive.

So, what does this mean to us? First, our Leo house, hosting the lovely Venus, becomes more attractive. Leo Suns and rising signs are more naturally attractive (ie easy on the eye and able to attract).

We attract what we want and need (Venus) through Leo - so by standing out, standing up, being passionate, taking the world by storm - you get the idea.

We could, of course, go overboard with all of this. Leo (ruled by the Sun) doesn't really like others blocking their light. Competition can get ugly. We could become downright diva-like. Being in love with being in love fits here, too.

Wanting to be adored will make being ignored even harder to handle.

Venus in Leo is not so into compromise.

She is into fun (she meets all her new neighbors and is invited to all the best parties) and romance (there is surely some renewed passion without her mother-in-law in the next room) and creativity (she has a new apartment to decorate!) and PASSION.

Our passion will be what attracts others to us and what we are attracted to in others now. Her immediate trines and sextiles to the middle and outer planets tell us SOMETHING IS FALLING INTO PLACE.

She immediately trines, first Saturn (good for defining goals, making commitments) - and he is about to fall back into Pisces (back to get a better ending) - and then Neptune (magic, inspiration, no-limits). This signals the BRAKES ARE OFF WITH SOMETHING. Money comes in, and maybe, flows right back out. For some people, maybe it is a bit more sticky. People, relationships, something is LIVELY here. This is good news for the last week of summer. Let's make it count somehow.

TUESDAY - Mercury is inconjunct the North Node in Pisces. Maybe information/a conversation or tech, transportation, sibling or local community, commerce situations are at odds with our best path forward. Maybe we need or want to rest and work comes in. There is a rock and a hard place here. Something unsettled. Venus sextiles Uranus, so our bodacious/confident Venus in synch with Saturn and Neptune - the reality that is dissolving and the unreality that is firming up - creates an OPPORTUNITY with the new thinking/new ideas of Uranus in Gemini. Maybe the new ideas or liberating ideas just sound better to Venus in Leo (as us, as we feel our way into something more heartfelt). New love. New relationships. New ideas. Sudden INSPIRATION.

WEDNESDAY - here is where Venus makes her stand against Pluto/power - DRAMA, fear of loss/what we could lose/what is ending. Jealousy, obsession, manipulation. Venus in Leo wants to shine, stand out, be appreciated. Doesn't want to share the spotlight. There can be power struggles. BUTTONS WILL BE PUSHED. If you have anything in the very early degrees of the fixed signs this can feel like life-and-death. Keep in mind, Venus is our power of attraction, and we can attract unhealthy energies/situations with this opposition. The good news here is that shadow energies are visible/out for us to work with, but things can get messy.

THURSDAY - Uranus sextiles a retrograde Neptune. This is a repeating long-term aspect and today is one of its exact hits. These are outer planets and contacts between outer planets are uncommon - although more common now and over the next couple years as this NEW WORLD gets built (this sextile will repeat until the summer of 2027). Sextiles are soft aspects/require effort but don't insist on it the way squares do. This is Gemini/Aries. Air and fire. Tech and inspiration (let's not turn tech into God here!). Communication and passion. Innovation and imagination. This is also the day Mercury in Leo is squaring Juno in Scorpio - contractual disagreements, arguments between partners, drama/secrets. A mixed bag kind of day.

SUNDAY - Mercury trines Chiron. News/information about health situations that moves things forward. Creativity/pride/romance/children/recreation is healing. Wounds/vulnerabilities can be badges of courage, be talked about with pride. At the same time the Moon in Sag is squaring the Sun in Virgo. The Sun in Virgo is practical and focused on the details and the Moon comes in and shines light/draws our attention to something bigger and bolder. The First Quarter Square is a crisis and brings tension and frustration. It requires action, so this is between the details and the big picture. The forest and the trees. It's a time to look up from the day to day/habits to gain some larger perspective and in doing so our ideas about what is right/what is fact might need to change. Stay flexible and open.
