the astrology of the full moon in aquarius | August 9th, 2025 - the real costs of loyalty and partnership, after the betrayal, what needs to be emotionally processed and not just intellectually understood

Just a reminder that the weekly is included in the monthly HERE for August.

On Saturday, August 9, 2025, at 3:54AM EST the Aquarius Moon will oppose the Leo Sun at 16 degrees giving us this month's Full Moon - our annual Full Moon in Aquarius.

Full Moons brings things to light, to a conclusion or to a peak point of fullness.

Like with every Aquarius Full Moon, our sentimental and emotional Luna (focused on the past) isn't uber comfortable in detached and intellectual Aquarius (focused on the future) and certainly at a disadvantage opposing a strong Leo Sun (Sun's home sign). The kings and queens, yes, even the mad ones, have somehow had their way/say. The Leo Sun showing us, likely through an illumination or conclusion, our pride/skills/what does and doesn't make us shiny/allow us to shine.

Let's dive right in and unpack the chart!

The Moon at 16 degrees (almost 17 degrees) Aquarius opposes the Sun. The Moon is sandwiched between Pallas and Chariklo. The Moon in Aquarius is co-ruled by Uranus and Saturn. Uranus is at 1 degree Gemini, trining Mars and conjunct Sedna. Saturn is retrograde and conjunct a retrograde Neptune, asteroid Borasisi and opposing Mars. The Sun is tightly conjunct asteroids Siwa and Askalaphus who are also opposing the Moon. The Full Moon and Sun are squaring Juno in Scorpio - applying and Juno is trining the North Node exact. Whew - there is alot going on here. We will stick with the lunar aspects I think :)

The Full Moon chart includes a Kite formation/Grand Air Trine that doesn't directly include the Full Moon, but powers up BOTH. Something is ready to take off or crash to earth!

The Full Moon and Sun are forming a fixed T-Square with a retrograde Juno in Scorpio. Juno had gotten all the way through Scorpio last year and into Sagittarius at the beginning of this year when she turned around. She was back in Scorpio on April 15th and stationed direct in Scorpio on June 11th at 16 degrees, so in an exact square then to the Full Moon now.

Juno is alot about the power dynamics within committed relationships. And this thing we are in a relationship with can be a situation/company, etc, not only a person, although in an individual's chart it often speaks of their marriage partner. Juno was a protector of the state, especially women and ruled marriage and contracts/cooperative arrangements, but also the things we don't want to look at too closely in order to preserve a contract or maintain our power through powerful allies or situations. Juno's relationship with her husband Jupiter, the King of the Gods, was complicated and her revenge for his indiscretions are legend.

This T-Square is probably the real meat-and-bones of this lunation. The Aquarius Moon wants distance and rationality. Juno, having been back and forth in Scorpio - and knowing where the bodies are buried by this time - wants depth and accountability. The Sun in Leo wants pride and integrity. The Full Moon could catalyze a crisis of loyalty vs authenticity with a commitment we have outgrown or are hiding parts of ourselves to maintain.

Scorpio shows us the REAL COSTS - with Juno here, maybe the cost of staying loyal to outdated roles, toxic partnerships and old agreements that are no longer working. Juno can be at her vengeful best here, but she has been here a long time/has had time to think before this CULMINATION point now.

(look at the United States and Israel relationship - a f*d up mess - Israel is a Venus ruled country, the transiting North Node is conjunct Israel's natal Juno right now and their natal Jupiter is on the Galactic Center/our Galaxy's homing signal - the United States is a Jupiter ruled country with a natal/lucky Jupiter/Venus conjunction. We have a Venus/Jupiter conjunction building now and you will find your natal energies play out when current transits echo them even in other signs and houses. The United States natal Juno is conjunct Israel's ascendent. Israel gets to 'borrow' the United States 'lucky' Venus/Jupiter, but this entire time period is complicated by that Juno in Scorpio and pulling the dark underbelly of the U.S./Israel relationship into the light. The Full Moon is also conjunct Jeffrey Epstein's North Node of Fate and exactly inconjunct his secretive Pisces Venus/Mars/Juno conjunction and Venus/Jupiter meet next week on the U.S. Sun which is tightly conjunct Epstein's natal and chaotic Uranus. Ukraine and Russia are also in the mix. Ukraine is a Juno country with a natal exact Juno/ascendent conjunct their North Node and when we have the mega 4 degree energetic line-up next summer, that is prequeled now, it will be impacting Russia's ascendent and North Node big time - what can this summer - with our North Node in Pisces - wring out of next summer before next summer gets here? Let's hope something better.)

In all our lives Juno, retrograde in Scorpio, was/is about OLD RELATIONAL DYNAMICS RETURNING FOR RE-EVALUATION. Maybe for some, with Scorpio ancient ruler Mars in Libra - this will include a final confrontation with what we gave up in order to keep the peace. Juno in Scorpio at the head of this T-Square wants THE TRUTH - about marriages, partnerships, merged intimacies and finances, the things we do in the dark that impact our partners and agreements - TO COME OUT.

The Moon is sandwiched between Pallas and Chariklo in Aquarius.

Pallas/Athena is a father's daughter archetype, birthed fully formed from Zeus/Jupiter's head/motherless, she is very at home in Aquarius. I could see her as a ruler of Aquarius/strong here. Pallas is intelligence without sentimentality, strategy without personal entanglement. She represents the woman who survives/thrives by mastering the rules of the dominant system/the patriarchy maybe by suppressing her emotions. She is the wisdom of discernment. In Aquarius, she sees the WHOLE CHESSBOARD. We are lucky to have her here now.

Chariklo is a more recently discovered archetype to work with (at her discovery she was part of a powerful six-pointed star in the heavens, so could have a resonance with Venus). She was a nymph/healer, the wife of Chiron (more partnership stuff) and the mother who asked Pallas/Athena to give her child his sight back after Pallas unintentionally blinded him when he saw Pallas naked. Pallas could not undo her own curse but did give him the "gift" of prophecy. Chariklo has been involved in all the big energetic alliances since 'time-ran-out' in 2020 and at this point I am seeing her as a healing presence. Maybe there is something here, not about restitution in the usual sense, but something about meaning or grace in the aftermath of irreversible events? Something about interceding and witnessing and midwifing (she 'mothered' many of the heroes Chiron trained) transformation but not fixing or returning to the 'before'. There is maybe something here about sitting with the aftermath/the long healing - she may be the part of the story that does not resolve itself cleanly.

Bracketing the Moon, Pallas and Chariklo show us that wisdom, an ability to strategize/rationalize/analyze is needed and here, but also NOT ENOUGH. We are reminded now that some things that are broken cannot be unbroken and that maybe we need to be present in the pain without trying to OUTSMART it. Juno's square is bringing up broken contracts and unequal partnerships and where we go after the betrayal - think about this whole 'after the betrayal thing' also in terms of the Coldplay Kiss Cam couple that was a zeitgeist moment at the last lunation, that New Moon in Leo two weeks ago.

What do we do with what we have COMING TO LIGHT now? Pallas plans her next move. Chariklo says - first sit with the loss/what you can't fix, and THEN help something new be born FROM IT.

We are going to have TWO New Moons in Virgo next - one of them an Eclipse - to help this whole thing along over the next few weeks!

Disclaimer here - this Full Moon is conjunct my 15 degree Aquarius Sun (and my 14 degree Aqua Saturn and opposing my 14 degree Leo Mars and squaring my 13 degree Scorpio Ascendent and 15 degree Scorpio Neptune) and what I am feeling is quite adrift and the weight of all losses and mistakes and burned my left hand badly in the Moon's run up and spent several hours cooling it in a bowl of ice water. I guess I needed to cool off, too. I would advise some caution with this one, but I am likely seeing it through my own chart rather strongly now and maybe not as clear-headed as I could me.

If we were sitting around the kitchen table with the Goddesses (and we kind of are actually) - Pallas would ask us to be SMART. Chariklo would ask us - to think about how we will stay soft enough to remain human in the process. Juno would ask us - what we are truly committed to and what it is costing us. And finally, our beautiful Luna, so challenged in Aquarius, but supported by her girls here - what needs to be emotionally processed and NOT just intellectually understood.

As Eclipse season approaches and summer winds down this Moon doesn't look to me to be much about closure. It's about recognizing our patterns, sitting in the wreckage/what can't be fixed AND choosing a more conscious way forward. We are charged with a kind of integration of strategy, sorrow and sovereignty.

We can't unsee the truth that Juno is bringing (think about Gaza! and all the Gazas that have come before her and not been seen in real-time) BUT we can choose what kind of integrity - the Sun in Leo! -we bring to what comes next.

I hope something here if helpful. Keep in mind this is just one set of eyes and they are dealing with a frozen and blistered hand :) and we have the Kite formation looking to give something AIR/make it take-off.

xo all

I just realized the Sun has some buds, too!

Let's take a quick look at the 'opposition'. The Sun sits with Siwa (we will talk about this in the upcoming politics post, but this is named for an ancient city in Egypt near Libya) and Askalaphus who was the guy in the underworld who ratted out Persephone - told she ate the pomegranate seed and so she was forced to return seasonally to Pluto/Hades. Demeter/Ceres later thanked him by burying him beneath a rock. Hercules then released him, and Ceres/Demeter proceeded to thank him again by turning him into an owl - which used to be seen as a bad omen. So, maybe something here about inconvenient truths, whistleblowers, our words/truth getting us into trouble - this energy, in opposition to what is coming to light/culminating/peaking and maybe ending.
