On Friday, December 19th, 2025, at 8:43PM EST, the Sagittarius Moon finally catches up with the Sagittarius Sun at 28 degrees, giving us this month's New Moon - our annual New Moon in fiery Sagittarius.
Sagittarius is a mutable sign. The mutable signs prepare us for the change into the next season and this Moon really has her work cut out for her!
Sagittarius is a fun-loving sign (ruled by Jupiter and ruler of our collective 9th house) that rules travel, freedom, adventure, the legal system, higher education, politics, publishing, good luck, faith, religion, weddings, optimism, truth seekers, boldly going where no man has gone before, THE QUEST - it also rules, the challenges are always the positives taken too far - carelessness, taking shortcuts, thinking we are right, making assumptions, overconfidence, arrogance, impatience, over-anything and superficial fluff.
Besides the monthly lunar energy of "new beginnings" this particular Moon has its own relationship with the other players in the heavens based on its position. That is where the real juice of any particular New Moon can be found.
So, let's unpack the chart!
The Moon sits with the Sun at 28 degrees Sagittarius tightly conjunct the Galactic Center/Hekate exact conjunction and also conjunct Juno and Venus. So, we have Venus, Juno, Hekate/Galactic Center and Moon and the Sun all at the end of Sagittarius. They square Saturn and Neptune at the end of Pisces (the end of the end). Jupiter, the ruler of this lunation as the ruler of Sagittarius sits at power-number 22 degrees of Cancer in an exact square to Chiron in Aries. Chiron is conjunct Eris and, of course, asteroid Borasisi (the tech dystopia possibility) quietly continues to occupy 0 degrees Aries - the beginning of the beginning - waiting for 2026. The Sag lineup opposes Algol.
The importance of events happening now cannot really be overstated - well, maybe they can be with Jupiter involved :) but this is certainly a BIG ONE.
The New Moon happening at the end of Sagittarius speaks to me of EXHAUSTED BELIEFS and futures we can no longer generate enthusiasm for (or that we were promised/hoped for and never transpired).
Venus/Juno speaks of contracts, relationships. Asteroid Industria is there, too, so for many people this can be about career/work. Juno, the cheated-on wife and maybe the original 'hurt people hurt people' archetype - always brings up what we are giving up to remain close to power/to keep the power we get from someone or something else. What/who we have become through this contact.
The Galactic Center plays an important part here. This is the black hole/homing signal at the center of our Milky Way Galaxy which I see as, among other things nothing is just one thing, the original 'Mother Earth wound' (the Hercules story - see the bottom of post). I have come to see the Galactic Center not so much about 'divine order' as I see other astrologer's saying, but more about the SPILLED MILK. Creation born of violation and not harmony. We have Jupiter/Zeus (who I also don't see as quite so benevolent as other astrologers these days) who is appetite, expansion, ENTITLEMENT. We have Juno/Hera who is the betrayed feminine, keeper of legitimate bonds (original 'hurt people hurt people' archetype), the pain of being provided for but not solely wanted. Her rage is not cruelty, but the fury of violated boundaries and then the child absorbs the consequence of the male entitlement (Jupiter) and the feminine is blamed for refusing care, that was extracted through deception. We have Hercules who is all of US/the human storyline, the overburdened child, the one given strength INSTEAD OF CARE.
So, the Milky Way (our galaxy) and the Galactic Center maybe equals some combination of the nourishment given without consent, care extracted through deception and strength forged when tenderness was unavailable. This is something like the chess board we are playing on. And, again, this is nothing more than my way of thinking, so take what resonates and leave what doesn't.
I wish it was painting a more Christmas-y picture.
There are certainly other ways to look at this :)
Keep in mind the Moon is always about INHERITED EMOTIONAL SCRIPTS/the way things have always been and the Hercules burden - and this has HUGE archetypical significance in Western society - is that he must be exceptional to deserve care. This is our collective wound. So, maybe the Milky Way Galaxy, which is the biggest thing we can imagine, is literally created from spilled milk and unwept grief!!
And here is this New Moon offering a HUGE reset point for us with these 'end times' Pisces squares to Saturn and Neptune.
THERE IS AN OPPORTUNITY HERE TO RE-HONOR THE BETRAYED FEMININE WITHOUT SACRIFICING THE CHILD - break the ancient triangle!
Situations in our life will conspire for us to play our part.
Remember Venus here is very important. She is a personal planet and is saying something about our desires that have been shaped by our early deprivations. Hunger masquerading as desire! Our attraction to what WITHHOLDS. Ugh. Our collective confusing of intensity with nourishment.
And that opposition to Algol is echoing this - losing our heads over what promises feeding but consumes attention instead.
The New Moon is asking us to think about - what would desire actually look like if it wasn't compensating for an early emotional shortfall. We have to GET THIS, guys. I really think this is the nut of the matter before we move into the New World.
The Sag pile-up squares Saturn and Neptune sitting together at the end of the end of the world.
The New Moon in Sagittarius wants MEANING, but Pisces says many of the old meanings were delusions.
The squares are draining. They speak of exhaustion, illness, wet weather. Saturn can harden us "nothing matters, shut it down". Neptune dissolves "escape, numb, transcend prematurely, think we are 'ascending' when we are avoiding". The higher use of these squares is letting meaning re-emerge OVER TIME without the fantasy.
What else is here? Jupiter exalted in Cancer at the top of his game at 22 degrees, but in a challenging square with Chiron/Eris in Aries. More about our fight to exist!
I see a collective sore spot between who gets to feel safe, seen and fed AND who must remain perpetually activated, outraged or entrepreneurial just to survive.
THE BOTTOM LINE - the New Moon is looking for a conscious surrender of obsolete beliefs, maybe especially those that have been mediated by tech (what are the algorithms molding in us?), stale ideology or inherited emotional loyalties.
Squares to Saturn are ALWAYS tests - can we let go without nihilism (Saturn/Neptune), can we care without smothering (Jupiter/Cancer), can we act without losing our heads (Algol), can we stand at the crossroads (Hekate/Galactic Center) without rushing into our next identity????
This is NOT a manifestation New Moon.
It is a SPELL-DISSOLVING (many of them ancient) and vow-breaking and attention/intention-reclaiming New Moon AND what survives this lunation cycle - the next two weeks and the next 6 months - will be what can live without illusion and what can live without constant stimulation to prove it exists.
BIG lunation for marriages and all kinds of work commitments/contracts.
That's it for now folks. I feel this is a bit choppy, but I have been fighting the flu and finishing up my work season. After this weekend, fingers crossed, I will be here more often.
xo all - back with the Kirk/Candace stuff I have been too busy to get to and then on to 2026!
I did notice Rob Reiner's son Nick has the SAME 18-degree Cappy Neptune/Uranus conjunction in his natal chart that Charlie Kirk had. One was born 9/14/1993 and the other 10/14/1993. Charlie's Sun was at 21 Libra - a HUGE number/placement for being next to power - and this was where Mars was when he was assassinated and Nick Reiner has a natal 21-degree Libra Mars. Both of these stories are collective turning points. I wonder what was going on with Nick Reiner and his parents back on September 10th when Mars was hitting his natal Mars and the U.S. was rocking with the Kirk assassination ...
(Hercules baby story - is the origin story of our galaxy. It's the story of a cheating husband, an angry wife and a hungry baby. The baby (Hercules), birthed by another mother and held to angry wife's (Hera/Juno) breast by cheating husband (Zeus, Jupiter) and the lost mother's milk that flies out of her when she awakens to find another woman's baby to her breast. This spilled milk - which we've never been allowed to cry over - creates our galaxy, the Milky Way Galaxy of un-mothered children (the dishonor to the feminine becoming baby's dishonor).
