the astrology of the new moon in pisces | march 18th, 2026 - eclipse season ends, letting go of what can no longer hold its shape, starting before we are ready, future direction arriving through old information

On Wednesday, March 18th, 2026, at 9:23PM EDT, the Pisces Moon FINALLY catches up with the Pisces Sun giving us this month's New Moon - our annual New Moon in mystical/magical "pay no attention to that guy behind the curtain", PISCES. This New Moon officially ends Eclipse season and is the background music for the next two weeks.

This is our 6th and final New Moon at the 28th degree.

So, even though this is a New Moon, it's once again about the ending. And this time in the last sign of Pisces we really are at the end of the end, and we can all FEEL IT.

A threshold moment.

Pisces endings rarely happen through decisive action. Piscean endings happen slowly. Things dissolve. They fade. Even if something appears to fall apart all at once it will have been slowly worn away/eroded over time through shifting EMOTIONS. We realize, standing here at the 28th degree that what we think we are carrying (and sometimes this is the very stuff we think our life is literally made of) IS NO LONGER HOLDING ITS SHAPE. Something is slipping through our fingers. With a world on fire, it feels like a lot might be ...

We can see how the SMOKE-SCREEN the Age of Pisces placed over our eyes/the dream of how life WAS is fading. It isn't real. It never was. This "waking up" is not a bad thing, but since we can't know/see what is coming, the unsettledness of it can feel bad. Keep in mind everything written in every history book was lived by people who had no idea how the thing was going to turn out.

The end of Pisces is where the old dreams drift away - sometimes because our attention goes elsewhere or maybe we are tired or maybe we have just forgotten what we once wanted - life can use whatever 'energy/transits touching our personal charts' it can access, to empty us of the stuff that can't go with us into the New World.

We have had so much attention to this degree and those around it for the last year or so, it is no wonder our memories and connections are so swiss-cheesy. Instead of waiting for rebirth to come through death we are getting a new life within the same life. It's confusing and exhausting and we may not feel like we ready for this ... but we know we ARE the people who are ready for this because we are the people who are here for it. It's that simple. And also that complicated.

Let's look at the New Moon.

The New Moon sextiles Uranus EXACT.

So, in some ways the future is kind of sneaking in sideways. A sextile is an opportunistic aspect, but it REQUIRES OUR PARTICIPATION. Uranian opportunities tend to arrive through twists and turns, surprising information and sudden insights. The sextile suggests a WORKABLE DISRUPTION.

This is less the 'lightning strike' we had a couple weeks ago when Mars squared Uranus (and this New Moon can actually be when we figure out how to work with that) and more about something new and unexpected and then later, we realize "oh, that actually worked".

With Uranus still conjunct Algol (malevolent star. third eye of Medusa, connected to 'losing our head' among other things) and Mercury still retrograde at this point, but standing still and ready to change direction in just a couple days once both the Moon and Sun get into Aries - maybe we are changing our mind/the story, our plans changing/refusing to keep believing the same old story.

Maybe the opportunity comes from seeing something from another perspective.

The modern ruler of Pisces is NEPTUNE sitting in early Aries.

Aries gives the dream courage/wants to LIGHT A FIRE under something. Maybe With Neptune here faith becomes action. At its best this is about intuitive courage, moving because something FEELS RIGHT. Just keep in mind the New Moon is a time in the dark - we can't really see where we are going or if what we do is going to work - WE DON'T WANT TO GET HUNG UP ON RESULTS.

Asteroid Kalypso sits with Neptune EXACT. Calypso in myth keeps Odysseus hidden on her island for years. Her themes include enchantment, time being suspended, trouble waking up/leaving the dream. Maybe this New Moon is the final moment before we leave the illusion/the place that once felt magical, but now must be departed ....

The ancient ruler of Pisces is Jupiter and Jupiter (in Cancer) is in an EXACT square with Venus in Aries.

Venus in Aries wants what she wants and wants it NOW. And Jupiter wants to make whatever is happening BIGGER. Which sometimes means better, but not all the time. This feels a little bit like hope outrunning reality, enthusiasm getting ahead of clarity, generous big moves before the plan exists, emotional optimism. Just keep in mind that at the time of this New Moon which will play out over the next two weeks most strongly - Mercury is still retrograde in Pisces. The situation isn't fully formed yet. So maybe the action begins before the story is fully understood. Maybe life has always been like this, but we have just forgotten the 'uncertainty' part of things in our modern world's push to dot all those i's and cross all those t's before beginning and then maybe we have missed the train entirely ..

I have always started things before I really know what I am doing and then trust myself to either figure out how to make it work or how to get out of it if it can't. I am doing something like this right now with the Middle School here with my daughter that is STRESSING ME OUT, so I think I have forgotten how to do this 'start before ready' thing, too, with all the 'forgetting' going on :)

Asteroid Cronos sits with Jupiter EXACT. Cronus (Saturn) is the titan of time and ruled before Zeus/Jupiter. With Jupiter he is symbolizing the old authority structures, the end of an era energy, the wisdom we carry from the previous cycle. Cronos is squaring Venus, too reminding us of the ticking clock/time pressure/maybe that something important is OVERDUE. Venus/Jupiter can inflate desire and expectations, and Cronos here pulls in the weight of history/the reality. The father who is overthrown by the son.

Dwarf planet Eris sits EXACT, almost to the very second, with Chiron in Aries.

Eris is the part of us who is the outsider/the one not invited to the party. The part who doesn't get a seat at the table. Chiron is where we learn to live with the very old, inherited wound. Together they might be showing us healing through what was rejected, or healing by acknowledging an inconvenient truth or healing by giving VOICE TO WHAT HAS BEEN EXILED. maybe the Chironic medicine comes through an outsider view. This feels like an echo of the 'change of perspective' we get with the Uranus sextile and Mercury station. Everything we can know for sure with astrology is repeated.

Mercury retrograde sits EXACTLY on top of the North Node of Fate. This is their 2nd of three meetings and the one where we are RE-THINKING the information we received from the future. Or maybe the retrograde is here for something else to shift, so when we get back here in just a few days, we can see the information or have the conversation or make the plans we missed the first time.

Anyway, my time is not my own right now, so I will have to get back to this. It is already late. Things are ABOUT TO SPEED UP big time as all the inner planets begin to enter Aries and join Venus, Saturn and Neptune. April is going to be lit, folks. Saturn in Aries and the whole - starting before we are ready thing - is already stressing out this fixed Aquarius Sun/Scorpio Rising :) Rest when you can. I hope something here is helpful. I will be back ...
