weekly astrology forecast | may 4th to May 10th, 2026 - sometimes we can't see where the line is until we've crossed it, dealing with the thing we have been stuffing and finding a way through it

April showers are so last week, time for some May flowers now folks! And multiple planets in Taurus tells us it's time we make the time to stop and smell them.

With Pluto being so still and strong and having kicked off with a Full Moon in Plutonian-ruled Scorpio, the month of May will surely have a very plutonian flavor to it. Don't let this scare you - just think Halloween in May :)

This week has minimal aspects, but one of them is Tuesday's Mercury/Pluto square within hours of Pluto's station retrograde. This looks intense/challenging and might connect to something we haven't wanted to deal with or didn't know about (or pretended we didn't). We talked about that at the Full Moon HERE

The good news for us, AND THERE IS ALWAYS GOOD NEWS, is we have the follow-up Mercury sextile to the North Node/trine to the South Node giving us a way through and once Mercury gets into Gemini around the middle of the month he/she will trine Pluto. So, this looks like the challenge now is relieved/integrated by then and we are moving on.

OK, let's unpack the week!

MONDAY - Mars in Aries squares Jupiter in Cancer

TUESDAY - Pluto stations retrograde in Aquarius, Mercury in Taurus squares Pluto in Aquarius

WEDNESDAY - Mercury in Taurus trines the South Node

On MONDAY - Mars in Aries squares Jupiter in Cancer

The square is hot/pressurized/willful. Mars home in Aries wants to act, break through, push forward and he wants to do it now. Jupiter in Cancer inflates the emotional stakes so everything feels bigger and more personally meaningful than it probably is. The square's danger is overreach driven by feeling, charging ahead on the fuel of ancestral hunger or unprocessed emotion and then we mistake intensity for DIRECTION.

In evolutionary astrology, Mars rules our soul's desire to individuate, to separate from the herd and forge our own path. Jupiter in Cancer calls our soul back to the tribe, to belonging and to our emotional memory. So, the square here shows where we are caught between "what I need to do to become more myself" and "where I come from." The unresolved past (Cancer/Jupiter) inflates and blocks forward motion (Mars/Aries).

So maybe this shows up as OVER-EXTENSION. We overdo, over-eat, over-nurture. We say yes to something we can't do. We push something too far or react with more force than the moment calls for. This can also show up as anger at home/family or somehow 'rushing' to get security/safety.

The square isn't really asking us to choose between ourselves and family/roots - it asks why they feel like opposites. The wound underneath urgency is usually an unmet need for safety. Can we 'act' and still 'belong'?

But here's the rub (maybe the good kind like a back massage after a day in the garden) - the Moon will be void for much of the day as she moves from Sagittarius to Capricorn. The Void Moon tells us there is no need to actually rush this. Nothing needs to be decided right now. Nothing we launch today will go the way we think it will anyway. The Void Moon at the very edge of Sag and Capricorn (a sign that understands patience, timing and that we are playing the long game) is creating a pocket of non-doing inside a day that wants to explode into doing. It's almost as if the cosmos is saying, "yes, the square is real, the tension is real, but this is not the moment of resolution".

Rather than a way through the square, the void may be pointing at something more subtle which is the wisdom of not forcing something just yet. Mars in Aries will hate this. Jupiter in Cancer will want to process it emotionally to some kind of inflated conclusion. The void says 'sorry sister' to both of them. Sit in the unresolved tension without acting from it. Where are those flowers we should be smelling ...

On TUESDAY - Pluto will station retrograde in Aquarius and then Mercury in Taurus will square Pluto who is retrograde in Aquarius

This day is the hinge of the week. First, Pluto turns around. We talked about Pluto's station and his impact on the Scorpio Full Moon in the last post HERE. Pluto won't move very much at all this month which makes him VERY STRONG. Pluto is power, control, truth, merging and purging, death/rebirth cycles. When he stations, the energy intensifies and stops moving outwardThe door doesn't slam shut … it closes slowly ... and then locks from the inside!

With Mercury squaring Pluto, some truth arrives at the exact moment the energy turns inward. Mercury is about perception, language, and what our mind believes it knows and Mercury is slow and stubborn in Taurus. Squaring stationing Pluto, the mind is being confronted with a depth it would rather not name/deal with. Taurus Mercury wants to hold what is solid, comfortable and proven (probably forever). Pluto says, "well let's try this instead" and dissolves the floor.

The square brings compulsive thinking, difficult conversations, power struggles and information that cannot be un-received.

(remember that thing we have denied that the Scorpio Full Moon is looking to reveal - well, this is probably it)

This comes in like a razor blade. Conversations get real/get to the bottom of something and keep in mind we still have the Mars/Jupiter in play wanting to go fast and BIG. Maybe someone's motives are exposed (or our own) or maybe now is the time when something hidden becomes undeniable. Words and information can be intense/controlling. We might uncover something or we might be confronted. We will watch our language now knowing that words are very powerful. Once spoken out loud there will be no 'take-backs'. The other person (and life) has heard us.

What is really happening with Mercury/Pluto (and remember Pluto and Mercury are old friends, Mercury is one of the few who can freely come and go from the underworld) is that we are being asked to let our mind die a little. To release a belief that has kept us safe but small or just outlived its usefulness. Pluto does not destroy what is real. It destroys what we are pretending is real.

On WEDNESDAY - Mercury trines the South Node in Virgo and sextiles the North Node in Pisces.

After the Pluto square our mind reaches for what we already know. Mercury rules the South Node, so when he/she forms a harmonious trine, familiar and helpful information materializes effortlessly. And with Mercury freshly through his square to Pluto, what arrives now has already been tested. The confrontation with Pluto stripped away the unnecessary and the complicated. What remains is solid. The old solution still works, and it works because it's built on something real and enduring.

This can feel like relief after the Plutonian pressure, like, okay, I know how to handle this.

Just keep in mind the South Node doesn't grow us. That's where the North Node comes in, and Mercury is touching that, too, of course, but reaching the North Node takes a bit more effort because it's new. It's a bit of a fork in the road. One path says, You already know. Use what works. The other says something like, What if there’s more here than what can be explained? What if you let this be a little undefined? Neither path is the wrong past. One takes a little longer, but there are those flowers to smell ....

xo all

Pluto retrograde BIG PICTURE. All the planets full steam ahead ends, but all personal planets are still full steam ahead. Endings don’t fully finalize yet. External drama may pause or stall. The real work of Pluto becomes internal. So, if something looks like it’s ending it may actually be entering a review or unraveling phase/transition (the ending is under review). If something is exposed, we now have months to understand it at a deeper level.

This doesn't mean months to deal with it though. This month looks like THE DEALING.

NOTE - if something has been hanging on by a thread, Pluto's turnaround could be the final cut (as well as bring it back to life, but this can turn around again at the station direct). The station comes before the retrograde and the planet is STRONGER right now, so keep this in mind. Sometimes we confuse the station with the retrograde. The energy is different. Pluto's station, like the Full Moon, is showing us - what has already ended. It can remove the energy needed to keep it alive. The break can be immediate, but the understanding is not. Pluto will station direct in October and then we have the New Moon in Scorpio in November and we move on.
