Today's astrology Forecast | Monday, February 1, 2021 - volatility, impatience, a need for smart cooperation, Mercury is retrograde in air so re-thinking, re-innovating, Aqua gets even more attractive

I will get the weekly up tonight! Everything is happening at the beginning and end of the week anyway - here's the beginning:

The Moon (in solid Virgo) makes a short void this morning off a 6:10AM EST trine to Venus and then moves into Libra at 6:25AM EST. The Libra Moon (as us) is nurtured through balance/fairness, beauty, partnership. She trines Saturn at 3:32PM EST and then Jupiter at 11:57AM EST. The already smooth flow between your Libra and Aqua houses is super-charged!

This is the day Venus moves into Aquarius (meeting centaur/asteroid Chariklo). Also the day the Sun in Aquarius squares Mars.

The Sun (at 12 degrees Aquarius) squares Mars (at 12 degrees Taurus). This can be good energy to push to get something moving - yes, via tension and frustration - but we are still moving. But mostly this speaks of our individuality/the group/freedom squared off with our existing resources/values/money. Ego/action and we can take impulsive action that might undermine us. So, we need to be smart. Be responding and not reacting.

This is volatile energy. Drive carefully. Avoid arguments/angry outbursts. Men/"the man" can be asserting their power. We might feel impatient. Be easily irritated.

Venus moves into Aquarius until February 25th. Aquarius Suns and Aquarius rising (Aquarius ruler of first house of your natal chart) get more attractive. Both easier on the eye and able to attract what they want (Venus). All of our natal Aquarius houses become more attractive, too.

Our Aquarius house is a space we experience and evolve through Aquarian energies. Maybe by experiencing unexpected situations and unusual experiences. Maybe by being able to detach and get enough distance from something to be able to see it clearly. Maybe through flashes of genius or rebelliousness. Maybe through chaos. Our natal Uranus placement (co-ruler of Aquarius) and its contacts will tell us a more complete story.

Now, we have Venus moving into/through this space. As she moves through Aquarius she will make contact with not only any planets/points we have in Aquarius, but also the planets/points we have in Leo (by opposition), in Scorpio and Taurus (by square) and other planets, too (by sextile, etc).

This is where knowing our natal chart can come in handy. As a collective influence, Venus moves out of Capricorn (the rules) and into Aquarius (the space we let go of the rules in order to advance).

Beautiful Venus drops her briefcase full of "shoulds". She takes her hair out of its tightly constructed bun and shakes her head. She kicks off her too-tight, office-ready pumps. She wears whatever she wants to wear now. She can do whatever she wants to do now. There is no one to impress in this new space. There is no one to answer to.

Now subconsciously we all feel this (even though we need to keep in mind Saturn is in early Aquarius and Venus is on a collision course with him - reality check!) a kind of relief as Venus disentangles us a bit from what is required of us to be 'acceptable'. Maybe we start to notice (attract) things we would have otherwise missed. The strange and unusual will catch our eye now. We might be attracted to things/situations/solutions/people that are different. Co-ruled by unpredictable Uranus, Aquarius is the space that is hard to forecast.

Keep in mind when we step outside the rules (Uranus is outside Saturn's boundaries) our outcomes become less predictable, too.

Venus (beauty) in Aquarius (unique) allows us to see the beauty in things we wouldn't normally regard as beautiful. What would it take to see our crooked teeth as beautiful? our messy house? a real loss? Wouldn't it take detachment? Wouldn't it take an ability to step back a little farther from whatever we are looking at? Detachment is one of the gifts of Aquarius (and also one of the curses if taken too far - think about technology that detaches us from reality).

With Venus in Aquarius we can also grow to appreciate technology or profit from it financially.

The Moon (with her opportunistic trines to Saturn and Jupiter and in Libra answering to Venus), Venus and Chariklo can help us today.

Chariklo was a wise woman/mentor and married to wounded healer Chiron. She supports us in being more conscious of what we are creating. She has the powerful gift of seeing beyond the horizon, particularly when it comes to science and technology. Venus, of course, is Aphrodite. She brings beauty, fairness, beneficence. Chariklo is a bridge from Saturn to Uranus and, both she and Venus are in Aquarius now answering to both these guys.

Also, Venus will be hooking up with Saturn and squaring Uranus at the end of this week bringing reality checks/solid innovation and more changes and pivot points with our money/resources/Taurus house theme, so heads up on that.

In the meantime, this stellium of planets in Aquarius gets even more super-charged with Venus moving in today. The Sun/Mars square needs to be handled with care - with Merc retrograde in Aquarius, we don't want to toss the baby out with the bathwater. This is a time of review/revision and most especially re-thinking. Patience/the long game will matter and we know we have Venus meeting Saturn at the end of the week, so 'big daddy' kind of checking in later.

Today's energy is good for physical work (that Sun/Mars square). We are in the middle of a snowstorm and there will be shoveling to do here, for example. Keep in mind those Libran diplomatic trines available and all the cooperative feminine energies that can mitigate this egocentric crap and point us toward the future. Just check your impulsive reactions/irritations and keep a cool head.

The future/the 2020's/Aquarius will not be stopped. We (especially those like me with fixed planets and points) need to be flexible. Some of what we are dealing with is the effects we set into motion with a cause. Some the results of quantum changes. I am going to get a big-picture post up this week and the weekly up tonight - the big energies this week are today and Saturday, so the week seems to come in and go out with a bang. Love and money could be challenging, but the challenges bring us to next week's GOODIES.

the astrology of Gamestop, the Titans of Wall Street, Robinhood & A Roaring Kitty | Uranus vs Saturn 2021 - an opening bell

Let's talk a little background first.

GameStop is a video game retail store (formerly Babbages) founded in Dallas, Texas in 1984 by two Harvard Business School classmates. The company went public on February 12, 2002. There is, or was, a Gamestop store in most malls in the United States (usually located near the food court where the hungry teens hang out). If you've been to the mall, you've probably been in one. They sell Playstation Games, Xbox, etc and buy and sell their customer's old games. They bill themselves as the world's largest gaming destination. They probably are.

Their tagline (which became especially appropriate in late January 2021) is POWER TO THE PLAYERS.

Move ahead to 2021 and the gaming giant isn't doing so well. Brick and mortars in general are in trouble and especially in-line mall stores. The game makers have figured out a way to cut out the middle man and people can just download this stuff now. And, of course, the pandemic is keeping everyone home and shopping online. GameStop is moving toward bankruptcy.

Smelling blood in the water, the Wall Street sharks are circling.

The hedge funders short GameStop's stock (basically bet money that GameStop will fail thus insuring that GameStop will fail) expecting to make an easy buck on the video game retailer's decline. Redditers on /r/wallstreetbets - probably many of whom grew up in this store - create a whole meme culture online intent on buying up the stock to drive the price up. Over the past few weeks, its value has gone from single digits to three digits and climbing.

The hedgefund managers, who manipulated the market in the first place, have lost billions of dollars and stand to lose billions more. The small time investors who bet their life-savings are walking away with life-changing money, although some are sitting tight for now.

Millennials (feels like Uranus here) have crowdsourced the biggest short squeeze in history (?) and the Wall Street Boomers (Saturn) are getting massacred. But, Saturn being Saturn he can never be counted out and soon the small buyer investment app, Robinhood (I am not kidding you - speaking of taking from the rich to give to the poor), shuts down the Redditers ability to trade Gamestop. So, we have triple market manipulation - the hedge funders first - in the old school way, that keeps the uber rich uber rich, the Redditers second in a move designed for bottom up revolution, and the Robinhooders third, fearing for their company's/the market's stability (claims CEO?), but probably just way out of their depth with this thing, when they shut down the trading.

As I write this, trading is back on - the shutdown/manipulations slammed by mixed political voices from AOC to Mark Cuban to Tucker Carlson (here's something to bring us all together) while the media, CNBC anchors in particular, continue shilling for the hedge funders!

This is, no doubt, one of the opening rounds of 2021's epic battle for the control of the Age of Aquarius as Aqua's co-rulers battle it out through multiple squares. Saturn, the father/old school, hierarchical "rich guys finish first" Wall Street energy vs Uranus the new/internet/chaotic/disruptive change "eat the rich" that threaten their rigged system by any means possible.

American Revolution part II (with Pluto moving toward his natal U.S. position in 2022-2024).

Let's unpack the chart!

Look at all that Aquarius in GameStop's natal chart! They went public on a New Moon in Aquarius conjunct Uranus. How perfect is that for a futuristic gaming company?!

The outer wheel shows their transits during this chaos which remember is all happening in the run-up/during the Leo Full Moon! And, oh yes, I forgot to mention the Reddit user that started this all is named ROARING KITTY (Leo being the sign of the Lion, so, of course, what else would his name be).

So, we've got Roaring Kitty, Power to the People, Robinhood and GameStop (stopping Wall Street's game) - the power of words on full display for anyone paying attention. And the power of Mercury, ruler of words and the trickster energy that rules GameStop's chart!

During the Full Moon, post HERE, the Sun AND Jupiter were EXACTLY on GameStop's natal Neptune. The Moon, opposed. Illusion, deception. No rules. No boundaries. And that Neptune rules their natal 11th house - the goals that bring people into connection/the internet/groups/crowd-funding with transiting wounded healer Chiron moving through their 11th house. Transiting Mercury, GameStop's ruling planet, is conjunct their natal Sun/Uranus conjunction - on their MC, making something very BIG and very UNEXPECTED and very AQUARIAN, very PUBLIC while transiting Neptune moves through their 10th house. AND the transiting Venus/Pluto (money, power) conjunction we talked about in the Full Moon post is conjunct their natal chart ruling Mercury. AND they are having a nodal return in their first house in Gemini, so again answering to their tricky chart-ruling Mercury. And, keep in mind, Saturn is in Gemini in their natal, so all their Cappy, Aqua planets (ruled by Saturn) are answering to Mercury, too.

Mercury rules video games, it's official. There I've said it.

So, what does all this mean?

Are the hedge funders going down over time as small investors take them down or as authority is forced to police their short-selling greedy manipulations? Will crowd-sourcing wallstreetbets be run out of town/over-regulated by the big boys? Is the stock market in big trouble? Will video game retailer GameStop survive?

Whose game will be stopped?

Uranus vs Saturn 2021. This, and much more like this, can be anticipated as the New Gods and the Old Gods battle it out for the soul of Aquarius. Stay tuned.

the astrology of the Full Moon in Leo | January 28, 2021 - dancing like everyone is watching

On January 28, 2021 at 2:16PM EST the LEO Moon will oppose the Aquarius Sun, giving us this month's Full Moon - our annual Full Moon in Leo.

Full Moon are oppositions. They bring things, already in play, to a culmination, a conclusion/result or into the light.

Leo represents me/ego, the king, the space we are meant to shine, generosity and fun and romance and children and creativity. The shadow of the Leo archetype is a kind of arrogance or greed or self-importance, but what you will find with most Leos is that they have a presence - they impress us. Sometimes it's hard for other people to relate to Leo as "one of us". There is dignity here. Leo rules the space we are meant to shine through self expression, so yes, the energy needs a lot of attention and needs to feel special. And because there is a need to leave a legacy here, things can get overblown. Leo has trouble with 'humble' (hence this energy leads us to the next sign - the 'humble' Virgo). Leo is ruled by the Sun and MUST shine (the Pluto in Leo generation isn't called the 'Me Generation', for nothing'). It is attached and emotionally reactive.

Aquarius energy (where is Sun is now and opposing the Leo Moon) is the opposite side of the same coin. It's the energy of "we/the group". It is detached (this doesn't mean unaware or uninvolved) and emotionally non-reactive - note I mean the energy and not Aquarius people, no one is just one thing! It doesn't need to feel special because it already knows it is special. It knows everyone is special (which kind of means no one is special, so you see where Aquarius energy is headed). Co-ruled by Uranus, Aquarius is the sign of the genius, the rebel, the criminal. The Aquarius space in our chart is where things will work best by being 'outside the box'. It is unpredictable. Aquarius doesn't do humble either. It's hard for other people to relate to Aquarius as "one of us", too.

The first thing we see with this chart is this massive Fixed T-Square! Oh mama!

Let's unpack the chart!

The Moon and Sun are opposing at 9 degrees - Leo/Aquarius. the ruler of this lunation (ruler of Leo) is the Sun. The Sun is also EXACTLY conjunct Jupiter (!), squaring Uranus, Mars, Black Moon Lilith and asteroid Albion (in Taurus) and sextiling Chiron in Aries. The Moon is EXACTLY opposing Jupiter, also squaring the Taurus planets, trining Chiron, EXACTLY conjunct Asteroid Hygiea (one of our significators/stand-ins for the virus) and trining Juno (in Sagittarius). Venus is EXACTLY conjunct Pluto. Ceres is conjunct Neptune (separating) and Ceres/Neptune are squaring the Nodes (also separating). Ultimately there is ALOT of energy answering to Saturn, strong at 4 degrees Aquarius.

Whew- there is alot going on! Where to start?!

Since this is the Moon's show, let's start here. We talked about her opposition to the Aquarius Sun. She is also opposing Jupiter. Jupiterian aspects are mostly a good thing, but the opposition can make something too much. Maybe we are feeling a push to make a bigger/faster  move than is wise. With the Moon in more-is-more Leo anyway, this "too-much" thing, could really be too-much. Situations could get overly-emotional, overly dramatic.

Our feelings could be out of proportion to what is actually happening, and sometimes during detached Aquarius season this can be a good thing, but maybe not, so keep this in mind.

At the same time, the Sun - and remember this isn't just any old Full Moon's Sun, the Leo Full Moon is the only Full Moon that is RULED BY THE SUN - is conjunct Jupiter. That "luckiest day of the year thing" you sometimes hear astrologers speak of, and happening at the Full Moon really gives this some staying power! Of course, it complicates things, too, because we don't get this 'luckiest day of the year' as a stand-alone thing. It comes with all this baggage. And we know this - just look at the world, our community, our home, our heart! Jupiter is luck, expansion, hope/optimism/faith, that stretch outside our comfort zone. Conjunct the Sun speaks of something BIG. No BIGGER. No, maybe even BIGGER.

This is a very POWERFUL reminder that with all this detached/scientific/future-focused Aquarius, we can't lose sight of our own heart. The way we personally shine. The center stage that sits empty when we don't fill it. Whenever we are having trouble in our life/feeling small (yes, I sound like a Simon and Garfunkel greatest hit here) - we can ALWAYS go to our Sun for warmth/love. What sign is your Sun in? What is that energy all about? What house does the Sun rule in your natal chart (your natal Leo house)? What is the theme of that house? This stuff is all powered up now.

The Sun and Moon are both squaring Lilith, Mars and Uranus in Taurus. This stuff is in various states of applying and separating. Basically our Taurus house theme is bringing the tension/frustration. This can bring sudden breakthroughs/breakdowns/break-ups. With the Moon in 'center-stage' Leo - maybe sudden ATTENTION. We just don't want to be too impulsive/erratic/angry here and undermine ourselves somehow. Get attention for the wrong thing! Keep in mind this is all fixed energy, so everyone is all dug into their positions and not wanting to budge. T-Squares are mega-powerful and no joke.

Sandwiched between Mars and Uranus is Asteroid Albion. Albion is an ancient Greek name for the Island of Britain (maybe even the first name of Britain). In myth, Albion was a son of Poseidon, in some tellings he was identified as 'Aquarius' - son of Poseidon and the Goddess Brittania - which would have made him a full God, so even more powerful. He was on the Aries point at discovery in 1992 and I remember seeing him in prominent places when I was looking at the Spanish Flu/Black Plaque and our current corona virus. He can catalyze major cultural changes and is a connector/bridge-builder (think technology here, but also the way things like viruses move from one person to another). Joined by Uranus, Mars and BML at the point of the T-Square we can be assured of sudden and unexpected shifts! And we can see this in the world. This is what is happening.

We can think of an opposition as opposing energies (because it is) and then the point of the T-Square - see the red lines in the Full Moon chart above - is a way of connecting those opposing energies. But because this connection comes through the creation of multiple squares - the Sun to these Taurus planets and the Moon to these Taurus planets - the connection comes through tension/frustration/challenges BUT it is still the CONNECTION!

The open leg of this thing in this particular chart - drawn up for the United States is that 5th house - Leo's natural house. Our heart, love, fun, joy, romance, recreation, children, creativity. The missing leg is WHAT IS MISSING. We need to find ways to bring more of this into our lives here. Also Scorpio which rules intensity, depth, sex, big money, merging/purging, life and death.

The Moon is trining Chiron (the Sun is sextiling), so something healing here. Our vulnerabilities/old woundings will not be a bad thing. They are helping us now. That Sun/that Leo energy. Get outdoors. Play with children. Make love. Make ANYTHING. Do something you love to do or plan for it. The Moon is conjunct Hygiea so a reminder to pay attention to our hygiene/our daily practices that keep us healthy. The virus is on our minds/driving our passions, but this is not all about hand-washing, This can be about getting our hair done or getting dressed. Remember this is royal Leo. When I say get dressed, I mean get DRESSED.

If we have been neglecting this kind of self-care, we will benefit from paying attention to this now.

The Moon is also trining Juno - the best aspect in astrology - in Sagittarius. Growth/expansion through our relationships. Our beliefs connecting us. Optimism. Faith. Our relationships have been sorely tested and it's nice to see a positive aspect at this powerful Full Moon!

Venus is conjunct Pluto at 25 degrees Capricorn. This gets a little darker. More intense. But also powers up (since Pluto rules Scorpio) that empty Scorpio house - the missing leg. Obsessions/control issues/jealousy. We could be attracted to someone/something for its deep pockets/mystery. Something - a person/situation/idea - can grab hold of us and (fingers snap) we are hooked. Note - this is a fast transit and these attractions can end just as quickly unless you have something in your natal to support this. Maybe happening on the Leo Full Moon this is about 'being seen' and 'risking rejection'. This aspect now also speaks of our deep NEED FOR LOVE/intense connection.

We need to be a little careful here, because happening at the Full Moon amplifies any obsessive feelings - I must have this or I will die! - and speaks of trouble if we move too impulsively.

Bottom line for us collectively - this Full Moon is about our creativity/our natural spotlight, our passions, love, children, recreation and balancing this with our friendships, the needs of the group, tech, the future (the Leo/Aqua opposition). The healing (and opportunity) comes through being ourselves, taking care of ourselves. We can get attention/love/fun from what we do now.

We just don't want to be too impulsive/passionate/angry in a way that might cost us too much - resources/self-esteem/money/security (those Taurus squares). We want to use these tensions/frustrations as a bridge. Our career/professional life is pulled into the mix with a significant result AND new start. Illusions should be fading now as we reach for land/more solid ground. Just note - we don't want our compulsions/desperation driving this train, so, let's stay in our HIGH heart. And our head.

Happiness will come when we BALANCE detachment (from an outcome) and passion (for a process),

when we balance the outsider and insider perspectives,

as we move from unique idea to passionate creation and from passionate creation to smart thinking,

from the audience to the stage and from the stage to the audience,

when we balance the group's impact/influence and what we are proud to have personally created,

as we move from trauma, chaos and PTSD toward influence, effectiveness and leadership.

This is a process and we are all in this together, but we are not just one giant lump. We are together and we are alone. This is how it has always been, but now we have physically manifested this, so we can SEE IT most clearly before we move forward.

For today, imagine someone is watching everything you are doing.

You have an audience.

How would you do today differently? How would you look, dress, sit, move. What would you say? What would you do? Start with that.

And don't forget to get outside and walk in this Moon - even if you can't see her, she is there. Excuse any typos, having internet trouble here and just want to press PUBLISH before I lose it again!

Today's astrology Forecast | Wednesday, January 27th, 2021 - discomfort, a void moon, releasing our need to fix something or maybe just the right fix (trying it again) is needed - you choose

The Moon continues her journey through home and family focused Cancer. She trined Neptune at 1:57AM EST, opposes Venus at 10:36AM EST and goes void off an opposition to Pluto at 12:55PM EST. She will be void until 9:54PM EST when she moves into Leo and we start to build toward tomorrow's BIG Full Moon.

The oppositions to Venus and Pluto won't feel so good to our sensitive Moon. Uncomfortable tension/frustration with harsh realities, authority, limits, rules, power, what it seems we can't have - are possible. This might also show up as a home/family vs work/career situation.

At the same time, Vesta, at 21 degrees Virgo, moves into an opposition with Ceres, at 21 degrees Pisces.

Vesta in Virgo is very focused on healing/fixing/making something better or, dare we say, perfect. She is retrograde, so this probably won't be our first go-round with this. Ceres is Pisces is either about unlimited mothering/nurturing/sacrificing or the release of something we once nurtured because the seasons of life are changing.

This opposition might speak of an ending/loss we are fighting via a sort of "let's just try one more fix over here" attention to details. Or, on the other hand, and we always get two for just this reason it seems - our attentive care/focus is challenged by the "enough is never enough" endless need of something/someone/some situation. Virgo/Pisces is also the real vs the unreal. The actual nuts and bolts of the situation vs our need to transcend those nuts and bolts.

So, it could be our extreme attention to what needs fixing needs to be pulled back a little bit, so whatever desires to be released/dissolved can be, this stuff is out of our control anyway OR maybe we need to put some extreme attention/care on something that is fading away/escaping .... pull someone/something/some situation back into reality, ie the land of the nuts and bolts.

See if anything here is helpful.

xo all - back tonight with tomorrow's BIG Full Moon post!

This is making me think of my 91 year old aunt. She is in the hospital - having fought off pneumonia and covid only, it seems, to be succumbing to a massive urinary tract infection a month later. Not eating/fading/preparing to move into another phase of life vs the extreme care being taken to keep her here. She's ready, but her family isn't. She's ready, but the established protocols need to be played out/run through. She's ready, but she isn't ..... life is so precious. So simple. So complicated.
