the astrology of the Full Moon in Capricorn | June 24th, 2021 - making firm decisions, reality checks, hitting a dead end that provokes a change, moving on, imbalances with authority, re-prioritizing, healing very old wounds, beneficial changes

On June 24th, 2021 at 2:39PM EDT, the Capricorn Moon opposes the Cancer Sun at 3 degrees giving us this month's Full Moon - our annual Full Moon in Capricorn.

There is always a challenge between the polarity signs in play at the time of any Full Moon because we have the Moon opposite the Sun. This is Cancer vs Capricorn.

Family vs work. The security that comes from nurturing ourselves, nurturing others or being nurtured vs the security that comes from having work in the world and money coming in. Our nest at home vs our place in the world. Summer vs. winter. Preparing for birth vs preparing for death "winter is coming". Childhood vs old age. Vulnerability vs self-sufficiency. Mom vs dad. Imbalances here might become more visible to allow us to realign what isn't working.

Also imbalances with authority and authority figures and the way we use and mis-use our own authority.

The Capricorn Full Moon throws a light on what power can do and also on the finality of choices we've already made.

Full Moons bring situations to light, to a peak, a result, a conclusion. Happening in serious Capricorn - think high-noon if your entire lifetime was reduced to 24 hours - with Cappy ruler Saturn, retrograde and squaring Uranus and sextiling Chiron - BOTH this year's BIG repeating aspects gives this one added oomph.

Maybe something that began at the Cappy New Moon in mid-January 2021 has reached a result/conclusion. With strict Capricorn maybe these are the results of hard work, hardly working or working hard at the wrong things. If we have been slacking off or putting our energies into the wrong things or into things that are just not meant to happen right now this will become clear to us

(the square to Uranus will make it easier to bounce off in an entirely new direction and get some traction fairly quickly - this is likely something already on our radar).

If we have been working hard - the results will be clear now, too.

Coming immediately after the Summer Solstice - the Sun standing still for 3 days - and following Mercury's retrograde station speaks of BIG/SERIOUS DECISIONS between the old and the new. Saturn, ruler of Cappy and ruler of this lunation, likes practical/firm decisions and if we have been back and forth on something (and this waffling has made perfect sense because this is not so clear cut even though now is the time to make the clear cut) NOW here is the energy to make a stand/choice. Maybe an old commitment needs to end or responsibilities reassessed. Saturn is the energy of "no" (the firm decision ending the "maybe" and the firm decision being both the decision and the decision to not look back), so this Full Moon might be more about what we are ending than about a strong attraction/draw toward something NEW - although life has pulled strings for ALL OF US to make the new seem even more attractive than it actually is to get us MOVING!

Let's unpack the chart!

The Moon is at 3 degrees Capricorn. The Sun at 3 degrees Cancer. They are opposing. The Moon is sextiling beneficial Jupiter (retrograde) at 2 degrees Pisces and bi-quintile Mars (in Leo). Cappy ruler Saturn is retrograde and squaring Uranus (waning), sextiling Chiron - EXACT - and trining the North Node.

The Cancer/Cappy polarity is about home/inner life vs work/life in the world. The Moon's sextile (opportunity) to beneficial Jupiter speaks of good news/luck/faith. Whatever is happening is somehow to our BENEFIT. Her biquintile - a gift meeting another gift - to fiery Mars in Leo, a kind of synergy that is greater than just the sum of its parts. I also see biquintiles prominent at times we are off-loading old reactions from past losses/not doing what we did before or maybe something happening that allows the cord connected to the loss to be cut, so that with future events we will not be dealing with these unconscious reactions/responses that no longer benefit us.

With retrograde Saturn's sextile to Chiron EXACT at the Full Moon this decision/ending/result triggers a very old and painful story about our identity/ability to take care of ourselves/stand up for ourselves. Sextiles are opportunities - this one is Aquarius/Aries, so independent/individualistic. This is our most beneficial repeating aspect of 2021. Healing of childhood/past-life/ancestral TRAUMA. Saturn is trining the North Node. This is Aquarius/Gemini. BIG decisions/ideas/conversations/plans. There is something here with its roots in the past AND something geared to a BETTER FUTURE.

We are re-assessing our priorities/commitments/work in the world. Figuring out, all over again, what is worth our resources, time, efforts. Drawing our line in the sand. We are working through this kind of 'mental-pressure' for a powerful new direction. By next spring, when master number 22 gets a powerful reactivation - we will have a much better idea where all this is going because we will kind of BE THERE (and, yes, THERE will keep changing, this is the Age of Aquarius, folks, get used to it). There is no amount of money/effort that can get us back what has been irretrievably lost. Focusing on the past or getting lost in daydreams of the future is just another way to escape (notice Neptune, God of escape, is no where to be found in this lunation).

Saturn/Capricorn is reality. Here is what it is. Here is where we are. What are we going to do?

Full Moons are very potent energy and this one is ALL BUSINESS.

Make sure you get out and walk in it!

Today's Astrology Forecast | Wednesday, June 23, 2021 - the luckiest day of the year thing this time with its roots in the past, healing old losses, renewed optimism, faith, examining what we want and why we want it, cutting cords

The Moon is in high-flying Sagittarius now. We are nourished/nurtured through our beliefs, education, religion, the big picture, what is foreign to us, mentors, wisdom, ADVENTURE.

She sextiles a retrograde Saturn at 5:25AM EDT, opposes Mercury at 10:50AM EDT and finally goes void at 10:08PM EDT off a square with Neptune. She is void until Thursday morning when she sobers up in serious Capricorn. So, a bit of a mixed-bag emotionally with the possibility of some crossed wires mid-morning.

The good news - this is the day the Sun trines a retrograde Jupiter. This is a thrice a year aspect, sometimes called by astrologers "the luckiest day of the year". I'm not sure about that, but certainly with Jupiter so magical (even retrograde) in Pisces, there is real connection/spiritual support here. With the Sun in home, family and security focused Cancer we could be feeling a real contentment in these areas (also our natal Cancer house theme) as well as greater confidence, optimism and faith.

This is also the day, always the fly in the ointment, Venus, nearing the end of her travels through Cancer opposes Pluto in Capricorn. This is exact in the evening, but has been building all week. How this plays out for us will have alot to do with our natal placements and energies, but this could be something about our resources vs their resources, mom vs dad, child vs parent, home (inner life) vs work (outer life). Power struggles are possible. Oppositions are like Full Moons so they can bring results/endings/sometimes loss. Feelings of jealousy could get stirred up. Maybe we are wanting what we can't have. Maybe we are wanting more power. Merging and/or purging are sometimes needed advice for Plutonian struggles.

With beneficial Venus's next aspect a biquintile (one gift interacting with another gift/double quintile) to beneficial Jupiter who is trining the Sun - no doubt the Sun/Jupiter will help us through the Venus/Pluto. Maybe the biquintile's "double gift" is a chance to "un-do" (that retrograde Jupiter) an old and almost-magnetic reaction based on a past loss (can be past life/ancestral, too, with Pisces). See an example below. We all have something like this going on.

Certainly Venus is asking us to examine what we want and why we want it.

Here's an example. Many people have something like this going on/playing out : a young man we'll call Bob has an ancestor, who may or may not have been Bob in a prior life, it really doesn't matter because either way he carries this story in his DNA/karma - whose head was unjustly cut-off by a mad king (in this case King Henry VIII). In this lifetime, right on time within this man's chart's connection to that life's chopping block, Bob had his own head cut off by another mad king - his larger-than-life boss. Losing this job 'felt' like Bob's actual head was cut off and this is even how he described it. This happened in the fall of 2019.

Now we are, all of us,  living at a level past where we always died before, and after much reconstructing of his life and much letting go, Bob, having come full circle, sort-of, finds himself back in the same position again, this time under the employ of another mad king (named Elon Musk, I am not kidding

with his head on a sort-of 'forever' chopping block BUT with an opportunity right now to leave the circus for something maybe less circus-y. Maybe this week's energies will conspire to bring situations/events that require/ask him to examine what he wants and why he wants it and maybe he'll decide another dance with the mad king is what he wants, magnetized by familiarity chaos/Uranus has a strong power over us or maybe this time he'll be the one to use the ax.

King Henry VIII, by the way, had a 22 degree Cappy Uranus - a degree wiped out by January 2020's Saturn/Pluto conjunction, also home to Bob's 21 degree Cappy Moon.

Weekly Astrology Forecast for Creatives | Week of June 21st - June 28th, 2021 - blessings and tenderness, some jealousy/power plays mid-week, clarity and forward movement, the fog/lethargy begins to lift, BIG goal-oriented Full Moon

I'm late to the charts with this one and what a week!

Two planets change signs, three change direction including inner planet Mercury who stations direct and we have a BIG Full Moon in Capricorn, plus our favorite repeating aspect of the year - the Saturn/Chiron sextile. We also have the amazing Sun/Jupiter trine the same week as the amazing Venus/Neptune trine - what magic is this?!

Whatever we have been waiting for - well, this week we have it.  Movement. Clarity (total? no, but enough, there will be ENOUGH). The paperwork. The facts. A decision. With Mercury direct and Neptune retrograde the fog will start to lift. Venus (our relationships, money, resources, self-esteem) is a major player, so her themes, as well as home/family and career/public life, will dominate.

SUNDAY - Sun into Cancer, Jupiter stations retrograde

MONDAY - Venus trines Neptune - GRAND WATER TRINE

TUESDAY - Mercury stations direct

WEDNESDAY - Sun trines Jupiter, Venus opposes Pluto

THURSDAY - Full Moon in Capricorn, Saturn sextiles Chiron

FRIDAY - Neptune stations retrograde

SUNDAY - Venus into Leo

SUNDAY - Sun into Cancer, Jupiter stations retrograde

The Sun crosses the Aries point of 0 degrees Cancer, ushering in a new season focused on home, family, what we need to feel safe/secure, mothering, our past/childhood, patriotism. Happening as Jupiter stations retrograde in fellow water sign Pisces (the Sun and Jupiter will form an opportunistic trine on Wednesday that is in play all week) makes Jupiter's backward journey a big part of our Summer Solstice season (winter down-under).

Jupiter stations retrograde at 3 degrees Pisces. An area of expansion/growth might temporarily stall. Our faith might be tested. Maybe we have missed an opportunity and need to move backward, or even sideways, to line up with it properly later. An especially good time (through September 14th) for Sagittarius rising folks to re-invent themselves. For all of us to re-imagine/re-work the house ruled by Jupiter in our natal chart.

Keep in mind, Jupiterian delays are always blessings in disguise.

MONDAY - Venus, at 23 degrees Cancer, trines Neptune

This is a very beautiful/tender/mystical energy. Good for art/music. Excellent for family healing/forgiveness/unity. Unconditional love. An added bonus - the Moon will be in Scorpio (evening EDT) making the Cancer/Pisces trine a Cancer/Pisces/Scorpio Grand Water Trine. Scorpio adds in intimacy/depth, pulls in power dynamics/secrets. Can help sooth the building intensity of the Venus/Pluto. On the other hand we might fall hard and fast for something!

TUESDAY - Mercury stations direct at 16 degrees Gemini

Whatever has been held up/delayed since May 29th will now start moving forward. We have been back and forth over the information/details, talking this OVER for long enough. HERE are the answers. HERE are the facts. We know enough to choose. We know enough to plan. The personal planets are all moving forward for the next couple months - something in our life will start moving forward now, too. This knowing/certainty thing will really grow legs once Neptune stations retrograde at the end of the week and even more fully once Mercury gets past his square to Neptune on July 7th!

WEDNESDAY - Sun, at 3 degrees Cancer, trines Jupiter retrograde in Pisces - Venus, at 26 degrees Cancer opposes Pluto in Capricorn

Now, the Sun trines our newly retrograde Jupiter. Here is optimism. Faith. GOOD LUCK. Collectively this will be about home/family, but personally will apply to your natal Cancer house theme - the future looks better/bigger/brighter.

At the same time, the fly in the ointment here - Venus is opposing powerful Pluto.

This can bring intense emotions/manipulations/power plays within relationships/families/real estate or family/home business situations/with mom. We might feel jealous/possessive. Stuff we have pushed down/wanted to forget, can rise up. Fear. Resentments. Blocks around our self-worth, relationship imbalances. For some, this will be part of the Full Moon's story about home/inner life vs career/work in the world. Plutonian oppositions can mean something gets removed.

We might discover what we really want because we won't want to lose it! So, we have Jupiter giving us a great big YES and Venus/Pluto giving us something to push against/make it real if we are willing to go deep/get real with whatever comes up.

THURSDAY - Full Moon at 3 degrees Capricorn with a retrograde Saturn, at 12 degrees Aquarius sextiles Chiron in Aries

This is a stabilizing/chickens home to roost/BENEFICIAL Full Moon coupled with our best repeating aspect of the year, the healing/mastering Saturn sextile Chiron - expect a BIG POST.  With Saturn retrograde and ruling this lunation - this one will have its roots in the past AND require some adjustments as we move along over the next couple weeks.

FRIDAY - Neptune stations retrograde at 23 degrees Pisces

Maybe think of Neptune retrograde like this - we spend about half the year standing knee-deep in the ocean, mesmerized by the large and colorful rocks at our feet. But, most of the time when we pick up a rock for a closer look, its beauty/magic fades somewhat. The huge/fanciful rock looks rather ordinary outside the watery shimmer. We spend the other half of the year with the tide gone out. The glitter fades, but we can see clearly what we have. Most of the rocks are just normal rocks of normal coloring AND there are maybe a few beauties we have previously overlooked. This 'tide goes out' is like Neptune retrograde. Not because the colorful rocks disappear, but because we can truly see what we actually have.

The illusion/uncertainty fades.

HERE is what we have. HERE is where we are. This is only a bad thing if we have counting on something being more fantastical than it actually is.

We put our rose-colored glasses in the drawer. Some kind of reality check is possible/likely. Dreams we have outgrown/don't line up with anymore will begin to dissolve. The grip of addictions/escape tendencies can lessen (or increase for a bit depending on our natal chart, but this is always a good time to deal with them in a different way). This is a particularly good time for Pisces rising people to reinvent themselves (gain stability/reality check), Pisces Suns to be more practical/taken seriously and for all of us to see, without the rose-colored glasses, what is actually happening in the house Neptune rules in our natal chart. Neptune will be retrograde until December 2nd.

SUNDAY - Venus enters Leo

Venus (love, money, values) had been somewhat comfy, although quite restrained, in Cancer for the last few weeks. She prioritized security over all else and this kept her safe, but also a wee bit bored. Cancer rules the Moon and a Venus/Moon natal opposition is considered the Madonna/Whore complex in a man's chart - so Venus has probably felt like she was living with her mother-in-law!

With her move into Leo she gets to spread her wings a little (maybe a lot, maybe a whole lot and we do, too!). She leaves her mother-in-law's safe little house with the shuttered windows, central air conditioning, and alarm system where her mother-in-law was paying the rent. What more could Venus want, Cancer asks as Venus heads for the door?

"Quite a bit MORE", Venus answers.

She moves into a noisy apartment on the other side of town with curtain-less windows, a fan that wakes the neighbors when their fan isn't waking her, a deadbolt that doesn't quite latch properly and the rent only gets paid if she pays it. Standing on her own two feet (and what lovely feet they are - this is Venus we are talking about!), Venus is more confident. She is also more competitive. She has to be to make it on her own (cue Mary Tyler Moore tossing that damn hat).

We will be, too.

So, what does this mean to us? First, our Leo house, hosting the lovely Venus, becomes more attractive. Leo Suns and rising signs are more naturally attractive (ie easy on the eye and able to attract). We attract what we want and need (Venus) through Leo - so by standing out, standing up, being passionate, taking the world by storm - you get the idea.

We could, of course, go overboard with all of this. Leo (ruled by the Sun) doesn't really like others blocking their light. Competition can get ugly. We could become downright diva-like. Being in love with being in love fits here, too. Wanting to be adored will make being ignored harder to handle.

Venus in Leo is not so into compromise. She is into fun (she meets all her new neighbors and is invited to all the best parties) and romance (there is surely some renewed passion without her mother-in-law in the next room) and creativity (she has a new apartment to decorate!) and passion.

Our passion/confidence will be what attracts others to us and what we are attracted to in others now.

Venus will be in Leo until July 21st.

Back with some dailies and the BIG Full Moon post!

Today's Astrology Forecast | Friday, June 18th, 2021 - in sync, creativity, fun social engagements, passionate enthusiasm

The Moon moves into Libra today. We are nourished/nurtured by our social activities, relationships, balance, justice, peace. Now the Moon is answering to beneficial Venus in Cancer (the Moon's sign and pulling home, family and security happily into the mix) creating a nice mutual reception and strengthening both the Moon and Venus for the next couple days.

Her only aspect today is an opportunistic sextile to Mars (in Leo) at 12:32PM EDT.

Our actions smoothly/easily lining things up to get us what we want. This is a creative/fun-loving vibe. Passion. Enthusiasm. Good for connecting with other people, negotiating, moving forward with collaborative projects. Having a good time. Get out and about.

Next week's Full Moon in reality-based Capricorn will close out this spring's Eclipse spin-cycle (are we wet/dry/wrinkle free?), Mercury will move forward (decisions will be made, momentum will shift forward), the Saturn/Uranus square will unwind a little bit, things will slow down enough that we can catch our breath.

Then between July 1st and July 3rd, Mars will be reactivating the Saturn/Uranus square and the Saturn/Chiron trine - so our Leo house/our ego (12-13 degrees) will be pulled into BOTH of 2021's important aspects. Mars often acts as a trigger and pulls collective aspects into our personal lives or maybe more appropriately said, pulls our lives onto the new timelines through these aspect portals via personal events and situations, so for some people the first couple days of July might have an important impact on the rest of their year.
