On Thursday, November 20th at 1:47AM EST the Scorpio Moon meets the Scorpio Sun giving us this month's New Moon - our annual New Moon in intense/deep/dark SCORPIO.
Scorpio rules our collective 8th house of intimacy - of other people's values, other people's money, merged resources, wealth, power. Here is where we take the time to understand other people's motives. It's through the constructive traits of Scorpio - focus, resourcefulness, passion, probing, deep perception - that we experience real intimacy. We merge with other people physically and materially. Scorpio is our only fixed water sign. It's potent energy for making deep changes.
We have had many New Moons in Scorpio opposing Uranus over the last few years and this is THE LAST ONE. So we have our annual Sun opposing Uranus (unexpected shake-ups and changes) coming at the same time as the New Moon in Scorpio's powerful and transformative NEW BEGINNING.
With Uranus retrograde and covering old territory, there is something not totally new or not totally unexpected about this disruption. We could have/maybe should have seen this coming. Uranian oppositions can make other people/outside situations feel more distant/more impulsive or unpredictable.
The New Moon looks like a new beginning (in the dark, so lots we don't know right now) birthed from an unexpected and possibly chaotic and jolting shock/change/liberation. This could be INTENSE.
Let's unpack the chart!
The Moon and Sun meet at 28 degrees Scorpio. The skies are dark. They are exactly conjunct a retrograde Mercury, so we get a Mercury Cazimi (Mercury in the heart of the Sun, at his/her retrograde midpoint - the illumination) AT the New Moon. All three TIGHTLY oppose Uranus, applying, who is conjunct Algol - losing your head, alcohol, algorithms. Big changes can come through a solar figure - father/leader/boss - losing their head/their position/leaving. The Moon/Sun/Mercury are conjunct Black Moon Lilith and EXACTLY conjunct asteroids Deucalion, Typhon and Dziewanna. Mars, the ancient ruler of this lunation is in Sagittarius and sandwiched between asteroids Apophis/Hidalgo and asteroid Industria. Pluto, the modern ruler of Scorpio sits at 1 degrees Aquarius. The Moon is forming a Grand Water Trine with Jupiter in Cancer and Neptune in Pisces and Uranus makes the Grand Water Trine a Kite.
The Moon plus Sun/Mercury/Black Moon Lilith/the asteroids oppose Uranus, applying. The New Moon seeding planted under the dark skies is broken open. With BML being the 'anti-Moon' - there can be something here like a lightning strike/RE-CODING to the womb/our comfort zone. The trauma we have carried from our mother's body/story into this lifetime, well, it's time we SEE IT/hear it/feel it.
The exiled daughter takes the stage. Mic drop moment (next two weeks and next month as this New Moon plays out). This makes people speaking truth to power, and maybe especially women/exiled daughters - Candace Owens and Marjorie Taylor Greene come to mind - especially powerful right now.
Uranus is retrograde and anaretic at that 29th degree of Taurus, so there is instability here. The feeling that it's now or never. The power of the 'hail Mary' play, the feeling that it might just be too late.
There can be the sudden RETURN of a past disruption, a change that cannot be postponed or the BREAKING OF A SPELL/habit/inheritance pattern. Scorpio is fixed water/ice (ICE is also the destructive force in the book Cat's Cradle - asteroid Borasisi who I have talked about before/the destructive tech, still sitting at the powerful 0 degrees of Aries - and an arm of the government that whatever you think of the immigration situation is quite literally terrorizing people right now) and we have literally had years of New Moons in Scorpio opposing Uranus trying to crack this ICE and it is not a coincidence that we get this final opposition - in our lifetime - with Black Moon Lilith, a Mercury Cazimi and the exact asteroids we have now!
New Moon events/beginnings are almost certainly brought to us through something unexpected/disruptive and, for some, even chaotic or traumatic. Collectively this will be about money, resources, weather events/Mother Earth, values, self-esteem, what has been repressed/hidden and avoided. Expect the unexpected. When the Sun opposes Uranus from Scorpio, secrets/the truth comes out.
The GRAND WATER TRINE - we talked about this in the weekly HERE. Jupiter in Cancer (retrograde) missed opportunities re ancestry, home, family, security. Neptune in Pisces (retrograde) old delusions, dreams, spiritual MEMORY. Mercury/Moon/Sun in deep Scorpio - a realization/confession, a truth that we can no longer bury. We are spotting the pattern/commonality that is beneath the pattern, our shadow's shadow as we return to a past choice, intimacy, wound or investigation.
Then the Kite that is formed from the Grand Water Trine with Uranus back in Taurus on Algol - off with their heads/turned to stone - funnels everything into a DECISIVE EVENT.
The release of the Epstein files will be voted on during this New Moon cycle (we have already had an assassination, Israel/Palestine treaty and government shutdown, all at least partly timed to take our eyes off the Epstein ball, so what is about to happen if they vote yes to release the files to shift our attention this time?! something bigger?) - what is the shadow of the shadow/dark work? Who is really pulling the strings? Control. Bribery. Depravity. Corruption. Who protects predation? Who stays silent and WHY? How is power misused? How are we silenced by shame?
While Sedna - the drowned daughter cut loose by her father to save himself - cries out for JUSTICE (retrograde in Gemini conjunct Uranus) and opposes the New Moon.
The Epstein files storyline is forcing all of us into DEEP SHADOW WORK. What is happening out there is always happening within us, too. Our homes, our lives, our DNA. And vice versa.
Black Moon Lilith is conjunct the New Moon. The conjunction is separating. She is the 'anti-Moon' space in the Moon's orbit when the Moon is as far from the Earth as she can possibly get. With the New Moon conjunct BML we aren't in Kansas anymore. She is a 'shame' wound. I often say from our mother's pregnancy, and this is true I think, but this isn't total truth - she is already part of us. She is ANCIENT. She is the truth the family system cannot hold. In Scorpio the shame is about first wanting to not die/deserving to live and be alive even at the expense of our mother (if we are the child) or child (if we are the mother) and then needing intimacy, needing truth and psychological closeness - needing to be fully alive and embodied. Something we are perfectly entitled to need/want, but this gets perverted somehow. A shame wound around intimacy, sexuality, life and death power and attachment can lead to us repressing healthy needs then overcorrecting with extremes (control, secrecy, compulsions) or projecting this shadow onto others or magnetizing people with embody the shadow/taboo for us. So, this New Moon seeding - the Moon and Sun having both just crossed over Black Moon Lilith/the anti-Moon - says the Moon isn't just new, it's SHADOW-NEW. If the Moon is comfort/home/safety/belonging, the shadow/BML is where those were denied. This lunation symbolically narrates a theme of what cannot stay buried/in the dark anymore. Think of Scorpio Lilith here as (collectively, don't personalize all of this if you were born with BML in Scorpio) - about the abuse of taboo desires, power plays in intimate contexts, domination, secrecy, coercion, the shadow side/corruption of wealth and influence. And keep in mind this is a NEW Moon, so this isn't about closure. BML will be in Scorpio until December 20th.
Let's take a look at the asteroids EXACTLY conjunct the New Moon and what they add to the story - I have never seen so many.
DEUCALION - the survivor of the great flood (after the anger of Zeus) and son of Prometheus. He is about SURVIVING A DELUGE/who is left standing. Maybe some kind of intuitive sense of 'starting over' within our own line/lineage.
TYPHON - his myth precedes order/is chaos. Maybe here he speaks of confronting the primal/chaotic root of something, says the origin of our story is older than we are. Reinforces Deucalion - typhoon? Wet weather event?
DZIEWANNA - Slavic huntress/another wild girl archetype so is echoing and reinforcing Black Moon Lilith here. Maybe something about reclaiming autonomy or instinct. Refusing domestication. The feminine refusing to be culturally contained.
Keep in mind this whole time period of history we are living through is brought to us by the DARK FEMININE RISING - the stuff that is dark because it has been put in the dark!!
Then we have the asteroids surrounding Mars - the ancient ruler of Scorpio - nearing the middle of Sagittarius and pretty much RIGHT ON THE UNITED STATES ASCENDENT! - Hidalgo, Apophis and Industria.
We saw HIDALGO in the United Healthcare shooting we talked about HERE. He is about our refusal to comply with corrupt systems/the old story. Mangione has been back in the news recently, so maybe this is just about that or maybe something else. Hidalgo also makes me think of the danger to the power structures from the people. APOPHIS is the chaos snake/about the dissolution of order, so maybe together - and Mars has just passed over them - they are saying something about standing up to a dominating pattern or a destructive pattern, FACING THE SHADOW OF THE SHADOW, confronting a force that tries to unmake or intimidate us.
And then Mars is applying to asteroid INDUSTRIA/capitalism/the system. And this is also about the discipline/effort/work needed to shape or we should probably think 're-shape' something. Turning chaos (Apophis) and rebellion (Hidalgo) into some actual physical structural thing. The shadow work meeting up with actual work. The system is corrupt, but this doesn't mean systems themselves are corrupt.
Taken together the asteroids might be saying something like - before creation comes chaos. After the flood comes rebuilding. Do the work. Stand up to the old power. Rebuild with INTENTION. How do they add to the New Moon story/to your story?
Let's take a look by sign. Use your rising/sign on first house cusp (check the sign before and after, too, because I have to do these 'by signs' using whole signs) and your sun sign, too. Aries, as always, is the collective energy.
ARIES | Aries Rising - the New Moon cracks open something
buried in your shared spaces, so intimacy, finances or psychological
entanglements. A revelation around trust, power, or even a past betrayal might
surface, not to punish you, but to free you. Uranus shakes up your money
or self-worth story, showing where you’ve outgrown an old financial dynamic.
Maybe something you were taught to be ashamed to want - closeness? support? fairness? - becomes non-negotiable now.
TAURUS | Taurus Rising - the New Moon lands directly across from you, showing the truth of a relationship, partnership pattern, or dynamic of giving vs. withholding. Mercury retrograde brings back a conversation or information you never actually resolved. Uranus in your sign jolts you awake because something in how you show up in relationships must evolve. A desire you hid to keep the peace rises to the surface and this is your chance to name it without apology dear Taurus.
GEMINI | Gemini Rising - the New Moon brings a revelation through your routines, work, health, pets, co-workers. Something you’ve ignored, swallowed, or minimized becomes unmistakable/unavoidable. The New Moon exposes the real root here, which is a pattern you inherited, a coping mechanism masquerading as “productivity,” or a wound wrapped in shame. Uranus shakes loose a subconscious block. This is the moment your body tells the truth your mind avoided and then the reset can begin.
CANCER | Cancer Rising - the New Moon hits your house of children, creativity, romance and self-expression. Maybe something you’ve suppressed in love or creativity resurfaces. A desire you were taught was “too much” or “inappropriate” demands recognition. With Uranus shaking your community/friend sphere, your people or audience react in surprising ways. Some fall away and some step forward. The grand water trine through your sign is deeply supportive to you dear Cancer - the real you is surfacing.
LEO | Leo Rising - a family pattern, memory, or emotional inheritance comes back for clearing. This New Moon exposes something from your roots - an old shame, secret, loyalty or survival strategy. Uranus jolts your public life or career story, forcing you to break from an outdated family expectation. You may restructure home, boundaries or the emotional hierarchy you grew up with. This is actually a lineage-level reset for you dear Leo.
VIRGO | Virgo Rising - something said or never said, reaches its moment of truth. A conversation returns from the past, and this time you hear the real meaning beneath it. The New Moon highlights siblings, neighbors, writing, communication patterns, and the way you speak your truth. Uranus opens a new perspective that changes everything. A desire to speak freely - without guilt/shame or self-editing - pushes its way to the surface. It looks like a conversation breaks the spell Virgo!
LIBRA | Libra Rising - this New Moon rewrites a self-worth
story. A desire you repressed to stay “acceptable” insists on being
acknowledged. Money, values, and self-respect undergo a reset. Uranus in your
eighth house cracks open old intimacy or financial entanglements,
possibly abruptly. You’re seeing clearly now where you’ve been
underpaid, underestimated or even emotionally manipulated. A value shift
creates a new foundation.
SCORPIO | Scorpio Rising - this is your New
Moon Scorpio and it's BIG, amplified by Mercury Cazimi and Black Moon Lilith -
something about your identity, your desires, your motives, or your shame-shadow
comes into the light. A personal revelation hits with precision. Uranus in your
relationship axis brings a shock, surprise, or break in a dynamic that has
constrained you. This can also bring sudden change for a partner. This is a
rebirth moment and maybe something forbidden you’ve always wanted becomes
essential to claim now.
SAGITTARIUS | Sagittarius Rising - the New Moon opens a
portal in your mystical/magical/hidden 12th house - dreams, intuition, old
grief and repressed desires. Mercury Cazimi brings a realization about the ways
you’ve sabotaged yourself or stayed hidden. Uranus in your 6th jolts your
health or routine to wake you up. Something ancestral or karmic is breaking
apart. A desire you never gave yourself permission to want rises from the
depths. As we move into Sag season/your season - honor it.
CAPRICORN | Capricorn Rising - a New Moon in your 11th house
exposes a truth about friendships, alliances, collaborators, or the dream/goals/future you have been seeking. Someone may reveal their true motives/colors, or you realize your
own. Uranus shakes your romance/creativity/children axis, rerouting your future
path abruptly. A desire you hid to stay “respectable” now demands recognition.
You’re choosing your people - and your future - differently.
AQUARIUS | Aquarius Rising - this New Moon illuminates your
10th house of career, goals, vocation, public identity, reputation. A truth you’ve been
avoiding about your direction, your ambitions, or a power dynamic comes into
full view. Uranus shakes your home/family foundations. Maybe something private changes
the public story. A desire you suppressed because it wasn’t “practical” or
“allowed” becomes the key to your next chapter.
PISCES | Pisces Rising - a New Moon in your 9th house
exposes the story beneath your story - the way your beliefs, worldview, or the
narrative you’ve been living inside without noticing is creating your
reality/making you who you are. Mercury retrograde reopens an old question or
quest. Uranus jolts your voice, your writing, a sibling/cousin, something/someone within your local community or a conversation that changes
your entire trajectory. A desire you were told was unrealistic or dangerous
becomes sacred now. Your faith evolves dear Pisces.
New Moon Intentions
NOTE - Set your New Moon intentions. BE CLEAR This is a seeding point for a generational or lineage-level reset, not just a personal new month intention.
Setting intentions for "Scorpio stuff" (or the stuff ruled by the house that holds 28 degrees Scorpio in our natal chart) during a Scorpio New Moon can be very powerful. Just stay open and flexible because something from that Taurus house of ours is going to shake things up!
These intentions might include - empowerment, change, crisis skills, self-mastery, sex, soul mates, financial partnerships, avoiding power struggles, secrets, psychology, charisma, restoration, forgiveness, obsessions, compulsions, strength, loans, debts, taxes, inheritances, contracts, releasing revenge, jealousy and guilt, your Scorpio natal house theme.
AFFIRMATION TIPS: get into a calm, centered frame of mind - always make affirmations from a positive (meaning both certain and light/calm) space - write your affirmations down by hand in script, say them out loud - then release your attention from these things knowing that your intention is known.
Know these things are already yours.
BOTTOM LINE about this collectively in the United States - this is a lot about the Epstein files - this is about reopening a buried story, the exposure of powerful networks, shame at a cultural level, a narrative society tried to repress, documents creating a shockwave, truths that destabilize the status quo, the return of 'victim's' voices, forcing accountability where it has been denied, the shattering of illusions about the elite (even the few emails I have read show a shocking lack of intellect).
With this New Moon right on top of Erika Kirk's natal Sun, this is about another 'buried story' too, and we will get back to that in the next post.
