On Friday, October 16th, Pluto will station direct at 3-degrees Aquarius.
He’s the slowest turn of the whole year, and we will likely feel this more as a shift in momentum rather than an actual event (there can be actual events though, especially for people with planets/points very near 3-degrees of the fixed signs). He stationed retrograde back in May, so think back to what might have gotten held up back then or what has cracked open between May and now.
Pluto is going to be in Aquarius until 2044. We have years of excavation, revelation, endings and beginnings ahead of us. We will revisit themes. We will uncover new layers. And some of the things we thought we'd already dealt with will almost certainly come back around for another look.
That's how Pluto/life works. He comes in. He levels what can be leveled/takes out the rotten floorboards.
This is all a process, but we don't have to wait until something bottoms out to make changers. Maybe we know enough now (or soon will - I would look to that timeframe around the middle of November). Maybe we know enough now (or soon will) to stop participating in an arrangement that diminishes us. Maybe we know enough to build something new, to reconnect with a part of ourselves we've neglected or to let go of an identity that has become too small.
Through Pluto, what doesn't kill us always makes us stronger. What have we uncovered? Plutonian subject matter usually connects to what we fear/are afraid of. What has changed? And what are we ready to do differently now?
Generally, the way I look at Pluto's direct station, an annual event, is - here is the death that was postponed. Here, eventually, is the power that was lost. Maybe we had time to clean up our mess (to get our ducks in a row) maybe to prevent a big-bang style ending, but more likely to prepare ourselves for it.
Pluto forges ahead again - bent on deconstructing our Aquarius house/Aqua themes. Pluto is strength through ELIMINATION. Pluto direct speaks of a loss (let go or be dragged), a total transformation or change of course of some part of our life and/or REAL EMPOWERMENT. The conversation around the dangers of AI/the transformations ahead - will be more front and center and alot has come out about tech companies since May. With Venus and Mercury reporting to Pluto as Pluto stations I would expect more to come to light - and action taken - about what this 'progress' that nobody asked for is really costing us and about to.
If you have planets or points near 3 degrees of the fixed signs, you have been no doubt feeling this (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius). This is about changes with real-word structure. Tangible/physical things. Pluto is in the process of multiple contacts with each of the inner planets and both Venus and Mercury are answering to him now and the Sun will be in about another week making his change of direction even more important.
Aquarius is the group, the network, the shared goal, the TECHNOLOGY and Pluto wants to know who runs it. Who owns the data, who controls the platform, who decides what the collective gets to know? What is the use of tech itself doing to us? Aquarius power can be REAL empowerment (people pooling strength and skills, technology that actually serves) or it can be surveillance/control dressed up as progress. We want to watch where the group asks us to give up something we can’t get back.
Pluto’s upcoming contacts -
The Sun squares Pluto on October 26th, right after the Sun enters Scorpio, so Pluto’s own sign leans hard on Pluto’s current home. But, Venus gets to Pluto direct first. This is on October 20th, and she’s retrograde, so that square is a kind of dress rehearsal. What we value, who we value it with, and what it costs us - all get a preview before the real decision in December. Mercury already made his square to Pluto in early October and goes retrograde in Scorpio on October 24th, so we can expect to be revisiting conversations we thought were finished. They aren't.
Venus square - Oct 20th (retrograde), then again Dec 9th (direct), and sextile (opportunity) Jan 11th. Venus retrograde says, "Look at what has a hold on your heart." Pluto direct says, "Now decide whether you're going to keep giving it that power."
Sun square - Oct 26th, sextile (opportunity) Nov 25th, conjunction Jan 25th. The Sun asks: "Who am I now that I know what I know?" and Pluto replies - "Well, who are you willing to become?"
Mercury square - early October, and he stations direct around Nov 13th just past 4-degrees or 5-degrees Scorpio, close to the square again but not quite exact. Mercury sextiles Pluto on Dec 8th (the opportunity) and conjunction Jan 16th. Mercury says "I think I've figured something out. Something doesn't add up here. The story we've been telling ourselves doesn't quite match what's actually happening." Pluto answers - "Then keep digging." Mercury replies "But I don't like what I'm finding. Some of these secrets have been buried for a very long time. And some of the things I thought I knew for certain may not be true at all." Pluto: "Truth isn't obligated to make you comfortable."
Mars opposition - Oct 3rd (Mars at 3-degrees Leo), so it’s separating now. Mars says - "All right. I've seen enough. Something has to change, and I'm ready to do something about it." Pluto answers - "Are you acting from strength, or are you reacting because you've lost control?" Mars says - "Does it matter? I'm pissed. I'm frustrated. I'm tired of being pushed around." Pluto answers - "Anger can show you where your power has been compromised. But it can also become the very thing that compromises it further!" Mars asks - What am I supposed to do about it then?" Pluto replies - "First, understand what is really driving you."
Mercury - can you face the truth?
Mars - can you act without becoming what you're fighting?
The Sun - can you let yourself change?
Venus - can you love, value, and desire without surrendering your power?
And Pluto's answer is ALWAYS THE SAME - transformation isn't just about discovering what has power over you. It's about changing your relationship with that power.
And Venus gets the last word. So, Mercury can uncover the secret, Mars can fight the battle and the Sun can confront the identity crisis, but IT IS VENUS who asks the question that makes all the others personal. Now that you know, what are you going to keep choosing?
Venus's conversation with Pluto is especially direct because Venus is retrograde in Scorpio, Pluto's modern-ruled sign. The Sun's square on October 26th is a later, separate encounter, so it can serve as a continuation of the larger story rather than something that happens simultaneously with Pluto's station. Hopefully I am making sense here :)
We are gifted with a great opportunity here to see/feel what is HIDDEN. We are going to want to take our time with this because we might think we know something and find out we don't. With so much happening through Venus - the collective storylines about women are very telling.
(if you look at the collective 'women/Venus stories' right now, they are not pretty - a mother who kills her children, a woman who kills another woman and whose body then refuses to die, a woman with a complicated story who claims rape, a woman in power who demands a bribe, a female 'patient zero' plague death in Russia happening at the same time Taylor Swift releases a single called 'patient zero'- all very Venus in Scorpio storylines)
Even an innocuous story about Kelly Clarkson claiming the 'Pretty Woman' treatment in a small boutique in Brooklyn is part of this zeitgeist moment. She was born with a Sun/Moon in Taurus, so Venus mega important to her personally and her Saturn at 17 Libra so very tight on the New Moon last weekend. You might remember that scene in the movie where Julia Roberts, flush with Richard Gere's money, goes into a store in downtown LA to trade in her 'hooker' gear for something more upscale and is rebuffed by the saleswomen. Kelly, who I am sure is a nice person and equally sure she is used to some pretty nice treatment when recognized - shoots off a post - Instagram, Facebook, I don't know - about what she perceives as her 'hooker' treatment. The store is inundated with complaints online. They fire back ... calmly. She fires back that they are lying (not so calmly). Again, they fire back ... calmly. They/the store handles this so well, most people, and by most people, I guess I actually mean me :) - are left thinking about the kind of elite first world problem it is that someone in a store thinks you might not actually buy a $15,000 little wooden bird (long story, google it if interested) and offers you an alternative $2000 little bird and this pisses you off. I think Kelly misinterprets what is happening because of, yes, her own sense of entitlement (Mars in Leo will humble many if not all of us by April), but also because of these Venus in Scorpia energies at play. Then people hearing the story pick a side, Kelly's, without knowing what they don't know. The same is happening with all kind of Venusian news stories. The key to working with this energy right now is to ASSUME UNTIL AT LEAST THE MIDDLE OF NOVEMBER THAT YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU THINK YOU DO. Let things play out/unwind. Take a breath.
Let's take a look by sign and house. You are looking at the early degrees of Aquarius. Use your Rising and Sun signs for the most complete picture! And keep in mind this is our second Pluto station direct in Aquarius in our lifetime (the last one was last year) and we have another 20+ to go ... you aren't supposed to get all this done today, this year or even this decade.
AQUARIUS | Aquarius Rising - 1st House | identity, presence and the self
You've been confronting some uncomfortable truths about who you are, who you've been and who you are becoming. Perhaps an old identity no longer fits or you've recognized how much energy you've spent trying to be the person other people expect you to be. Pluto direct begins to turn that awareness into a more visible personal transformation. You don't need to announce your rebirth. People may simply begin to experience you differently because you are no longer willing to disappear inside an old version of yourself.
CAPRICORN | Capricorn Rising - 2nd House | money, resources, values and self-worth
The excavation has involved what you own, what you need, what you value and maybe what you've been willing to sacrifice to feel secure. You may have discovered that some of your ideas about success, money or worth were inherited rather than chosen. Now it's time to begin building a different relationship with your resources. What is genuinely valuable to you? What are you holding onto out of fear? And what would financial or personal freedom look like if you stopped measuring your worth by what you can accumulate?
SAGITTARIUS | Sagittarius Rising - 3rd House | communication, perception, learning and community
WORDS have power, and so do the stories we tell ourselves. During Pluto's retrograde, you may have become more aware of a fixed belief, an old way of thinking, or a communication pattern that has been quietly shaping your world. Perhaps you've recognized how information can manipulate us, or how difficult it can be to change our minds once we've decided what is true. Pluto direct asks you to put that awareness to work. Speak differently. Listen differently. Learn something that challenges you. You may discover that changing the way you understand the world changes the world immediately around you.
SCORPIO | Scorpio Rising - 4th House | home, family, roots and emotional foundations
You've been digging beneath the floorboards of your home and family history and maybe discovering the old emotional patterns that have shaped your sense of safety and belonging. Now it's time to begin LIVING DIFFERENTLY. This could mean breaking a generational spell by changing how you parent, how you nurture yourself, or how you define home. You might leave a physical space that holds old energy or reclaim one by renovating it and giving it new meaning. What once kept you safe, even if that safety came with a hefty dose of control, silence, or emotional detachment, may no longer have the same power over you. Pluto direct asks - what kind of ground do you want to stand on now?
LIBRA | Libra Rising - 5th House | creativity, children, romance and joy
You've been confronting questions about recognition, validation, creative control, and perhaps the role you've played in keeping other people happy. What happens when you no longer need to be admired to know that what you create matters? What happens when love doesn't have to be a performance? Pluto direct can bring a renewed intensity to your creative life, romantic relationships, or experience of being a parent. The invitation is to create and love from a deeper place - not to impress, not to control the outcome, but to express something that is genuinely yours. And with the Sun sextile Jupiter, perhaps it's time to let a little more joy back in.
VIRGO | Virgo Rising - 6th House | work, health, service and daily routines
You've been looking at the systems that organize your everyday life. The work you do, the responsibilities you carry, the habits you repeat, and the ways you may have confused being useful with being indispensable. Perhaps you've recognized that an arrangement you've been maintaining is costing you more than it gives back. Pluto direct asks you to begin changing the system rather than simply trying harder to survive it. Reclaim your time. Reconsider your boundaries. Make your daily life reflect the reality of who you are now, not the version of yourself who once believed you had to do everything.
LEO | Leo Rising - 7th House | relationships, marriage, partnerships and contracts
The other person has been holding up a rather revealing mirror. You may have been confronting questions about power, dependency, control, and the parts of yourself you surrender in order to keep a relationship intact. Some partnerships may need to end; others may have the opportunity to evolve into something more honest. Pluto direct asks you to bring what you've learned into the relationship itself. Where is the balance of power? What has remained unspoken? Can two people become more fully themselves without one needing to dominate the other? With Jupiter in your sign, there may also be a growing willingness to take up more space — but the goal is not to win the relationship. It's to transform how you participate in it.
CANCER | Cancer Rising - 8th House | intimacy, shared resources, debt and power
This is Pluto's natural territory, and the excavation can be deep. You've been confronting the places where fear, dependence, obligation, or the need for control have influenced your relationship with other people. Perhaps you've been examining shared finances, debts, inheritances, or the complicated emotional exchanges that come with intimacy. Pluto direct gives you an opportunity to begin doing something with what you've discovered. You can establish healthier agreements, renegotiate an unequal arrangement, or become more comfortable with the vulnerability required to let someone truly know you. The goal isn't to need nobody. It's to understand the difference between genuine interdependence and giving away your power.
GEMINI | Gemini Rising - 9th House | beliefs, philosophy, education and expansion
Your worldview may have been undergoing a rather substantial renovation. Something you once believed in may no longer hold up, or you've discovered that the philosophy that guided you was inherited rather than truly examined. Pluto retrograde asks us to question the foundations of our understanding and now Pluto direct invites us to begin living from what we've learned. You might pursue a different course of study, teach something from a new perspective, travel with a changed understanding of the world, or find yourself drawn toward ideas that once seemed impossible. You don't need to have every answer. You do need the courage to keep asking better questions.
TAURUS | Taurus Rising - 10th House | career, reputation, ambition and public life
You've been looking beneath the definition of success you've been carrying around. What did you think you had to achieve? Whose expectations have shaped your ambitions? And what have you sacrificed to maintain a particular image of yourself in the world? Pluto direct begins to turn these questions into decisions about your public life and professional direction. There may be changes in your role, your authority, or the structures through which you work. But the deeper transformation is about purpose. You are being asked to build a life that reflects what you actually value, rather than continuing to climb a ladder simply because it's the one you've always been climbing.
ARIES | Aries Rising - 11th House | community, friendship, networks and collective goals
You've been detoxing from group-think, outdated affiliations or the pressure to belong to a community that no longer reflects who you are. Maybe you've recognized how much of your identity has been shaped by the groups you participate in, the causes you support or the future you've imagined alongside other people. Pluto direct asks you to put that awareness into practice. Find your people. Build something meaningful. What are the networks you depend on and/or the role you play within them? How do you use tech/AI and what are the personal and collective ramifications. Aquarius reminds us that the future is something we create together, but that doesn't mean we surrender our individuality to the group or ourselves/our skills to technology. Your contribution matters most when it comes from a place of authenticity. THIS ONE IS THE COLLECTIVE INFLUENCE, TOO and applies to all of us.
PISCES | Pisces Rising - 12th House | the unconscious, solitude, endings, and what lies beneath the surface
Not everything you've been excavating has been easy to name. Some of the work has happened quietly, beneath the level of conscious understanding - old fears, hidden motivations, inherited patterns, or the ways you sometimes undermine yourself without quite knowing why. Pluto direct begins to give shape to what you've been discovering. You may feel ready to release an old burden, establish a different relationship with solitude, or acknowledge something you've known deep down for a long time. This isn't necessarily a dramatic outward transformation. Sometimes the most powerful change is the moment an old fear stops making your decisions for you. You don't have to understand everything you've uncovered before you can begin to live differently dear Pisces.
Pluto direct could symbolize the point at which we begin acting on realizations about financial or emotional arrangements that have become unsustainable.
