weekly astrology forecast | october 12th, 2026 to october 18th, 2026 - time to recognize an opening when it appears and decide what we want to make of it

After a couple weeks or so of looking beneath the surface of things, confronting uncomfortable truths and questioning what we can and cannot trust, I think we could use a little good news, so let's focus on these two aspects in the week ahead.

They really start to pick up speed around Wednesday.

One aspect reminds us that there is something worth reaching for. The other helps us figure out how to get there.

First up - the Sun in Libra sextiles Jupiter in Leo. This brings the possibility of a gift, an opening, a renewed sense of confidence or a reason to believe things can work out.

Jupiter is in the sign ruled by the Sun, so the Sun has something to say about how Jupiter expresses itself. With the Sun in Libra, themes of cooperation, relationships, fairness and finding common ground can become part of the story.

A sextile is an opportunity aspect. It doesn't necessarily deliver a miracle to our doorstep, but it can create the conditions in which something beneficial becomes possible. And Jupiter does have a way of opening a door we didn't know was available, bringing the right person into the conversation or helping us see a situation from a more generous perspective.

This is a shift in a BETTER DIRECTION. Someone extends a hand. An opportunity presents itself. A conversation restores a little faith in another person. We discover that we have more options than we thought.

There is also something possibly quite lovely about the Sun and Jupiter working together through a sextile while Venus is plodding backward through Scorpio. Venus is asking us to look beneath the surface of our relationships, attachments and values. That process can be uncomfortable as f*ck, BUT the Sun/Jupiter offers a counterpoint - examining what isn't working doesn't mean that everything is broken. We can recognize a problem without losing sight of what is good, generous and worth preserving.

And with Jupiter in Leo, there is a heart-centered quality to the potential gift. This isn't just about getting more. It can be about remembering what makes us feel alive, what gives us joy and what makes us want to participate in life again.

Secondly - Mars in Leo trines Saturn retrograde in Aries. This is the more practical aspect of the two. The Sun/Jupiter sextile can restore our sense of possibility, but Mars trine Saturn gives us a way to work with that possibility.

Mars in Leo wants to act, create, lead and put something into motion. Saturn in Aries asks us to take responsibility for the direction in which we are moving and for what we are starting. Tis is a fire trine - so active and forward-moving. The brakes are off with something here (exact on Sunday, but strongest in the build-up).

Mars can act out of anger, impatience or the need to prove something, but Saturn can help us pause long enough to consider whether the action we're contemplating will actually get us where we want to go. Together the planets can help us channel energy rather than waste it. We can make a plan, commit to a project, tackle a problem that has been hanging over us or take a first step toward something that will require sustained effort.

Saturn is in its fall in Aries, retrograde, and sitting in Mars’s sign, so Mars has the upper hand in this trine and can dilute some of Saturn's natural stodginess. Saturn feels less like the taskmaster and more like the structure/stability for Mars’s ambition. The trine combines a starting impulse with the stamina to finish, a useful pairing with anything starting this week.

And this isn't just about work, duty and getting things done. Saturn's typical territory. There is room for creative ambition here, too. The courage to put our work out into the world. The willingness to take ourselves seriously. The decision to stop waiting for permission and begin building something that reflects who we are. Saturn doesn't have to be the planet that tells us no. In a supportive aspect to Mars, he can be the structure that allows us to turn an intention into something tangible/real.

Mars supplies the drive, and yes, some of this may be ego-fueled in Leo, that's OK, Saturn helps give that drive direction, discipline and STAYING POWER. In a time when we might be feeling overwhelmed by circumstances we cannot control - this trine can be extremely helpful. We may not be able to fix everything, but we can decide where to put our energy. We can do something useful with what we have.

First, recognize the possibility. Sun/Jupiter. There is still room for growth, generosity, joy and opportunity. Something may be worth reaching for. Then, give it a form. Mars and Saturn help us make decisions, commit to a direction and put in the work necessary to turn possibility into something real. And they show up in just the right order at just the right time.

So, we will notice offers, invitations or kind gestures we might normally brush off. Say yes to things mid-week especially. Later, let's choose something - a project, etc, and take the first/next concrete step. We will allow Venus retrograde to keep us honest about what isn’t working (we won't have much choice) AND let Jupiter remind us what’s worth keeping/reaching for.

xo all

heads up - ALL DAY VOID MOON ON TUESDAY so expect time to get stretchy, use it for routine tasks and rest and much can be accomplished. Pluto's direct station is this week also and will have its own post and I will drag myself into the charts and look at the New Moon politics.
