weekend astrology update | September 23rd -24th, 2023 - libra season brings the healing, some ups and downs for our serious Moon, an ultimately empowering wash-out

On Saturday, September 23, 2023, at 2:49AM EDT the Sun moves into Libra - the Fall Equinox - a moment of balance between the light and the dark (as the Sun crosses 0 degrees Libra, she moves over an 'Aries point', 0 degrees of a cardinal sign - the matters our collective attention are FOCUSED on, will MATTER).

In the Northern Hemisphere, the Sun begins to fall (weakens) as we move into a season of longer nights and shorter days.

Fall is the time of the harvest/reaping what we have sown, but, Libra is a cardinal sign urging us to look ahead/to start.

Write your Autumn bucket list. What do you want to do, see, experience? Think about that.

With the Sun in Libra, a collective spotlight is tossed on - beauty, fairness, women, what is in balance and what is imbalanced within our lives and particularly within our relationships (sometimes imbalances occur naturally such as with parents and children, through work commitments and caretaking - not all imbalances are problematic, but here is where, over the next month, we shine a greater light on them to check in with ourselves and others).

With the Sun in Libra we will all be burning Libra fuel. We move ahead through balance, cooperation, compromise and through our relationships with 'other people'.  Listening is a Libran skill in short supply these days when many people, I think because we are all absorbing so much information in isolation, we find it hard to really listen (hold space for the other person and their words), instead of half-assed paying attention while chomping at the bit to speak our mind. Let's look other people in the eye and really hear them out now. Let's find diplomatic ways to require the same type of 'space holding' for ourselves and our own words.

In some ways, because Libra is about weighing things out (nothing is cut and dried here like the wheat during Virgo season) things are more challenging when the Sun is in Libra. Libras can (not always) appear wishy-washy, but it is because they were born between Summer and Winter - they can see both sides of everything!

We move into the shadow of Libra when we are passive-aggressive, pouring pink paint on garbage and pretending it is a Barbie dream house and putting what everyone else needs/wants ahead of ourselves thus building deep pockets of resentment that will explode all over us and everyone else by the time we get into Scorpio season. These are our no-no's now. Keep an eye out.

The Sun in Libra is answering to Venus, direct after her summer retrograde, and covering Leo for the third and final time - out focus now is on RELATIONSHIPS ALREADY ESTABLISHED. With the Sun in Libra answering to Venus and Venus in Leo answering to the Sun, the planets are in mutual reception. The Sun can get to Leo through Venus - so shine by being more Venusian/Libran and Venus can get to Libra and be more attractive by being more Sun/Leo, ie brave, shiny, creative, not afraid to stand out.

Venus moves into a nice repeating trine with Chiron today. The Leo/Aries trine is about loving ourselves. Having pride in our creativity. Having pride in the 'work in progress' that we are. Being brave enough to be ourselves. Being brave enough to start/to play the fool, the novice. Can we see the beauty in our vulnerabilities/weaknesses? In our wrinkles and gray hairs? Can we see how the stories make those lines and twisted follicles beautiful? And now that we have seen that in ourselves can we see the beauty in other people's scars and blemishes and vulnerabilities, too? Today's trine is a repeating aspect from June 29th and August 14th. Getting our third shot at this on the Equinox is a good sign for whatever our Leo and Aries' houses have been up to this summer. For example, if you are say, a Scorpio rising, this trine is not only a healing flow of energy between Venus and Chiron, but smooth Venusian/Chironic flow between your Leo and Aries houses - work/daily activities and career/reputation/how you show up in the world.

The Moon this weekend is in Capricorn. Our emotions are serious/restrained/mature. She will trine Mercury and Jupiter on Saturday - good for communications, stretching ourselves, luck coming through being practical. The Moon squares Mars Saturday night, bringing pressure and we have Mars opposing Chiron today making action kind of painful. Squares bring tension/frustration, but it's late and we might just want to go to bed :) On Sunday, the Moon in Cappy trines Uranus - expect the unexpected/good for a change of pace - sextiles Neptune - opportunities come through our imagination, spiritual matters, rest, sleep, water. Then she goes void off her empowering meeting with that retrograde Pluto.

She is void for a few hours late Sunday afternoon, a good time to chill, then moves into Aquarius where she will trine the Libra Sun, late Sunday night EDT, giving us this month's Waxing Trine - Libra/Aquarius. Air trines encourage talking/sharing information. Compromise can be integrated with invention, one-on-one conversations with the collective. We can be ourselves AND connect with other people. Interactions are social/detached but polite.

Also on Sunday the Sun in Libra will inconjunct Saturn, retrograde in Pisces. More relationship give and take. Rocks and hard places. Drifting boundaries. Limits. Imbalances. We could be tired/under the weather. Limited by things out of our hands. The weekend is a mixed bag.

Our weekend plans here, in the works for many weeks, are washed out, but I am taking the Moon's sextile to Neptune and follow-up meeting with Pluto - echoing the Virgo New Moon cycle we are in, to indicate the 'wash out/Neptune' will be ultimately an empowering thing. The same applies to any Neptunian matter/action we take seriously now.

xo all

Heads up - sudden changes with love and money are possible with next week's BIG Full Moon in Aries. The Grand Erath Trine still in play will help stabilize things. More on that in the next weekly!
