weekly astrology forecast | August 21st to 27th, 2023 - confusion, exhaustion, reality checks, new perspectives, power moves, culminations, time to clean up our act, mercury stations retrograde and two planets change signs

This is a busy/bullsh*t busting week, so let's dive right in!

MONDAY - Sun inconjunct Pluto, Mars inconjunct North Node

TUESDAY - Venus square Jupiter, Mars oppose Neptune

WEDNESDAY - Sun enters Virgo, Mercury stations retrograde

THURSDAY - Mars trine Pluto, First Quarter Moon (1 Sag)

SUNDAY - Sun oppose Saturn, Mars enters Libra

On MONDAY - the Sun moves off his inconjunct to Neptune with an inconjunct to Pluto, so we go from that escapist/self-deceptive/deceptive/exhausting/wet/ill - whatever the thorn in our side is -  and into this same aspect with Pluto forming a Yod/Finger of God with the Sun at the apex. This is an aspect with two inconjuncts/quincunxes and a sextile.

With the Sun - ruler of Leo - finishing up his time in his home sign of Leo/weaker now, we (and the "we" here is the aspect of us and our relationships that are "the sun/the ego/the king") is faced with the need for PERSPECTIVE. These energies will not be easily merged. Leaders are tested/can be weakened, can fall. We can feel restless and uncertain. If this is hitting our chart we could be dealing with life lessons and difficult choices. Circumstances are playing out through karma/the laws of cause and effect. Manipulations and trying to force situations would not be recommended. Allowing things to happen instead of trying to control them, and then responding appropriately, is usually our best course of action if we are entangled in this/this is hitting our chart.

Mars has his own 'thorn in his side' with the North Node, so finding an action, at this point in time, that will line us up with our best future is challenging. Adjustments are needed. Better to go with the flow right now, I would think.

On TUESDAY - we have two big aspects perfecting.

Mars perfects his opposition to Neptune - you may have felt this more as it was building, but there is something here about what we are projecting onto other people/the outside world, what is OPPOSING US, being 'Neptunian'. This could indicate something deceptive or illusory or fantasy. Something escapist. Something wet or draining. Often Mars/Neptune aspects create drift/we go off course. We might get sick or feel tired. There is a lack of energy/confusing actions. If something kind of shady/unethical is going on, here is where it isn't lining up with stability. If we haven't been taking care of our health, here is where we can get sick, and, on the other hand, here is where we can take action to ward off that illness/head cold, etc with proper attention to our daily life and BOUNDARIES.

Oppositions are culminations, so something is culminating and clarifying now.

At the same time our retrograde Venus is reaching her second square to Jupiter. This is a repeating aspect we had around the middle of June. A desire for MORE. Which can be healthy or too much. We want to watch overspending, over-doing, over-promising. Something could look better than it actually is and we see with this weekend's Sun/Saturn there is a reality check coming. Too much of a good thing is still TOO MUCH. This is a good time to be "re'-evaluating what we want to expand/explore/what we are hoping for and have faith in, and, personally your Taurus house theme.

The Moon is in the middle of Scorpio now, the 'fixest' of the fixed water and should help us keep our feet on the ground or maybe I should say one anchor in the water.

For now, watch for overdoing and misleading yourself. This is good energy for confidence and creative work and for splurging a bit. Take your vitamins. Think about what you are ABSORBING.

On WEDNESDAY - Mercury stations retrograde at 21 degrees Virgo as the Sun leaves his home sign of Leo for the mutable earth of Virgo (from fun in the Sun back to work).

I am going to do a SEPARATE POST on Mercury retrograde laying out the aspects he/she will be repeating!

Mercury rules Virgo and this retrograde, through September 15th, is excellent energy for "re"- doing our daily routine. Getting ourselves organized. Getting healthier. Revamping the care of our pets and daily obligations. Re-viewing relationships with our co-workers and the people who work for, and with, us. Re-evaluating our work and your natal Virgo house theme. Virgo is our natural 'fixer' energy, so this is a great period to fix things that are not working. We will talk more about this in the next post.

On THURSDAY, Mars, at 28 degrees Virgo, trines Pluto while the Moon reaches her first quarter square, from 1 degree Sagittarius, to our freshly minted Sun in Virgo.

The First Quarter Square of the Moon to the Sun can be a reminder that TOO MUCH INFORMATION gums up the works, slows things down. Also making things bigger than they need to be. This might also be speaking of too much of almost anything creating a problem with the stable, healthy, one foot in front of the other daily life we are needing. Squares cause tension/frustration and require action. The good news might be that the hard aspect can make the smooth aspect of Mars and Pluto easier to quantify and that's a good thing.

Mars, at the end of Virgo, perfects his trine to our retrograde Pluto. Old careers/responsibilities/public lives and reputations can get a second wind. We are leaning into these excavated issues from the past. Something is falling into place. Old secrets can be unveiled/truths come out. Doing our Virgo is powerful. The brakes are off. What houses do Virgo and Cappy rule in your chart and what are the themes of those houses? How can you use the smooth flow of this to your benefit this week?

On SUNDAY, the Sun, at 3 degrees Virgo opposes Saturn while Mars falls into Libra.

Sun/Saturn tends to bring REALITY CHECKS. Saturn is retrograde, so we have probably been in a similar situation before. How did we get here? What can we learn? This energy can feel depressing since Saturn is quite literally gravity/pressure, so check in with people who might need a check in.

Oppositions are culminations, so something is culminating and clarifying now.

Mars exits tidy Virgo and enters sociable and diplomatic Libra, the sign of the other person, for the first time in two years.

Mars rules Aries, the sign of "me" and is uber uncomfortable and in his fall in the sign of Libra, the sign of "we".

Our actions/passions can get mired in indecision - this probably isn't such a bad thing with Mercury retrograde because we are re-thinking things anyway. Mars wants to just go, go, go and in Libra is required to 'see/interact with' the other side of things. There is more flirting than commitment (job hunters prepare for a possible extended interview or 'getting to know you' process). More passive-aggressiveness.

Fiery Mars in our collective 7th house of other people means our actions trigger fast reactions. That whole "I'm rubber. You're glue" thing isn't working. Or maybe it's working backward.

The more Mars becomes a smiling caricature of himself , a phoney Mr. Nice Guy rather than the warrior he actually is, the bigger the eventual blow-up will be when his (ours or theirs) Arian head explodes. We need to be honest about our anger, passions, actions without crapping all over other people. It is a balancing act and Mars' combat boots are not made for tight ropes.

The good news for the next few weeks and there is plenty - situations will arise that create opportunities for more fairness. More balanced actions. More social activities. More compromise. More win-wins. More allies. More beauty. More action with women. Doing it together. Plus our Libra house theme gets a kick-start.

I hope something here is helpful. Back with the Merc retrograde post next!
