the astrology of Uranus into Gemini 2025 - 2033 | the return of revolutionary thought

The weekly for the third week is in the monthly HERE

Uranus, our cosmic wild card - planet of disruption, rebellion, innovation, chaos and sudden awakening entered Gemini last week. Uranus hasn’t been in Gemini in nearly a century, and as the final outer planet to shift signs in 2025, his entrance marks the energetic pivot into a new collective chapter.

Gemini, ruled by Mercury, the God of communication, the trickster and messenger between worlds is the realm of MIND AND MOVEMENT. Gemini is about communication, our local environment, transportation, technology, siblings/cousins, language, commerce and the stories we tell to make sense of our world.

In Gemini, the sign of the twins, duality isn’t a problem to be solved. Two is better than one. Twice is better than once. What goes around, well, it often comes BACK AROUND. Uranus in Gemini is all about the telling of new (Uranus) stories (Gemini) - the changing (Uranus) of the MESSAGE (Gemini).

Uranus in Gemini electrifies our mental field. Thoughts race. Ideas collide. We can expect explosive innovation in how we communicate, how we move, and how we think. Old modes of processing information and how things get from one place to another may simply no longer function. Something in our current systems - intellectually, technologically, logistically - becomes obsolete, and we’re pressed to evolve. FAST..

Uranus DISRUPTS. He speaks in the form of sudden shifts, external events, and unexpected developments.

Things happen to us.

Our challenge, and this is where we find the OPPORTUNITY is maybe to respond in kind/lean in/loosen our grip/meet the change with change.

Change is not just advisable - it is a STRATEGY FOR SURVIVAL.

With Uranus now answering to Mercury (the celestial trickster), trying to outsmart or manipulate the shift kind of misses the point. Although, yes, we will try a bit of this. I know I will. But, this is not about getting the Universe to play by our rules. This is about embracing uncertainty and then the embrace is what creates the possibility and opportunity.

We have been asking for the patriarchy to end, for the hierarchal structures that raise one thing up at the expense of another to fall. People tell me the opposite is happening, but is it really? I don't think so. Can we change how we are seeing what we are looking at? And if you can't - then change what you are looking at for a while and then go back with fresh eyes.

Gemini always suggests SEEING DOUBLE. Doing it two ways. Taking two routes. Speaking two truths. We can't outsmart this stuff but maybe giving this erratic electrical current multiple somethings to work with can be a good idea. If not the erratic energy will find its own channel - often through chaos, breakdown, or burnout, some of which won't be preventable. Remember Uranus is always moving through our lives. It's always somewhere in our charts. We’ve survived its revolutionary pulse before.

Each time Uranus changes signs, he lights up three areas of our lives - the house he is leaving which will stabilize over time, the house he is entering (where innovation wants to land and the shake-ups will happen), and the house of our natal Uranus (the trauma signature in our natal chart life uses somewhat regularly to WAKE US UP).

In midlife, we all experience Uranus opposite Uranus. It's a transit designed to liberate us from calcification/getting old before our time. By our forties, most of us have entrenched ourselves in routines, roles, and safety structures that have long ago outlived their usefulness. Uranus arrives to say, "This isn’t working anymore." Get off your ass. It sends signs, people, events that jar us awake. An existential espresso shot. It’s the classic midlife crisis, and, at its core, it’s an invitation to reclaim the youthful spark we have lost. It usually comes in through an opportunity that looks like a CRISIS.

Something happens TO US.

Uranus, AKA Prometheus - the fire-bringer and rebel against the Gods just does not abide stagnation. If we resist, he lights the match. If we flow, he hands us the match. Do I want a match? Probably not. Uranus is the modern ruler of FIXED air Aquarius and shares Aquarius with stable/sober Saturn - this isn't all about the shaking, what we do with the broken bits/what we do NEXT matters, too, of course. This is where Saturn comes in and why Saturn/Uranus cycles are so powerful and their sextile this year so important.

I have a very Uranian person in my life who comes in and screws things up and leaves.

This is so freaking annoying as you can imagine.

This doesn't happen to me that often because I do enough of this myself, but my point here is that Uranus/Aquarius is the shake-up stuff. Saturn/Aquarius is the 'what we do with the broken bits' part. Aquarius is the collective 11th house that comes after the 10th house/pinnacle. We think of the 11th house as groups and collective goals, etc. And it is. Because we've already passed the peak and it's a good idea to reach our hand back and pull others up. But sometimes it's also the way tha 10th house stuff - our ambitions, goals, public life and reputations - shake apart which isn't always pretty. As Uranus moves into the sign of Gemini we want to be thinking about what we are thinking about and figuring out how this thinking is GOING for us. Is this working? What are we talking about, thinking about, looking at, listening to? Is this working for us?

Mars is crashing into the South Node right now.

WHAT DAILY HABITS NEED TO CHANGE? This isn't about being more productive although it could involve a better use of our time. This is about something more connecting.

What ideas are keeping us trapped? Maybe the idea that people who think/see things differently are wrong? And then we have to find people who are just like us, and, news flash, NO ONE IS. How can we better work with what shows up? How can we trust that the universe/our higher self has put the people in our lives that we actually DO need? Maybe the ideas are about what we can and cannot do, etc? What tech habits are keeping us stuck? End scrolling today. Find a book. So many people tell me they aren't reading books anymore. Go get one. Stick with it. Your body will remember what to do with it. Stop looking and start reading. What new thought could liberate us? This will come in. Certainly unannounced. Shake the sh*t out of us and make us deal with it/see it/refuse to let us go back to sleep.

The center cannot hold. This is NOT because we’re doomed or because we have done something wrong although surely many wrong things have been done, but because the old center has fulfilled its purpose. The stuff it has been holding together has OUTGROWN the need for it even though we may not realize this yet and the process of this level of change can be terrifying.

We look around the world and see chaos. We would probably be crazy if we weren't worried. I can't sleep if I think about this stuff at night or look too far ahead with the astrology.

Trump with his natal Uranus/Sun/North Node pretty much a Prometheus in the flesh - just the biggest narcissistic assh*le, but also one of the most powerful people who has ever lived. We know that what he has come here to do he has done. We saw that in the charts a couple weeks ago. He thought he could come in and use his authority to stop multiple wars and do all these things to 'make America great again', but, again, the center isn't holding. He was never going to be able to do this in the way he thought he would. The things/the ways that 'made America great' are not the things/the ways that will 'make America great'. Innately he knows this because, again, he is Uranus, but he is also a person with a lot of baggage and just can't see this. Maybe no one can.

All the roads ahead look dicey, but keep in mind the North Node is in Pisces right now - those bigger hands than ours that we need to have FAITH in have the wheel, our need for connection and compassion above all else AND then by next summer the North Node - best collective way forward - will be in Aquarius. Uranus's sign.

Uranus in Gemini is going to be alot about technology.

We can already see this is happening.

And with Pluto (death) in Aquarius, so now we have Pluto answering to Uranus in Gemini - this fear that technology, especially AI, is going to kill us is not just a fantasy (it's not a sure thing either obviously) since the story of the son killing the father - which is REALLY the story of the father's fear his son will kill him and then he brings about just what he fears has lived in our DNA for thousands of years (and we can see how fear AI could kill us can result in exactly this) and this killing of the father thing is also the story of the falling patriarchy, and certainly this can be the bigger story, nothing is ever just one thing.

Saturn usurps Uranus. Jupiter usurps Saturn. Always the father's fear comes first. The father acting out of fear his son will kill him and then this becomes the self-fulfilling prophecy (and narrative of how we cause a problem trying to prevent one) and the son, who fears the father will kill him, kills/usurps the father first.

Then we get to Christ and the Age of Pisces (faith, sacrifice, submission, and spiritual duality) which kind of puts this story to bed (which was the Age of Aries story). Christ dies on the cross/is sacrificed, does not rise up against his father, but rises for his "father" becoming a sacrificial son and not a conquering one. The son no longer kills the father but becomes one with the father and gives us a template of divine unity rather than intergenerational conflict. This shift introduces a radically different narrative - transcendence through surrender instead of dominance. In Jungian terms, and Jung was an astrologer, too, this represents a union of opposites as the ego (son) aligns with the Self (father), rather than in opposition to it.

(the shadow of the Christ story is that although Jesus subverts the father/son cycle of violence, institutional religion kind of reinstates it in another form, the divine father and his one son ie the one Sun/one son becomes a model for monarchs and governments and 'fathers' to centralize power and demand/require obedience).

So now there is only one God and this brings us to the patriarchal structures/the 'one son' thing that Henry VIII killed wives and split the church over and is mirrored in governments, family legacies, monarchies, etc to this day. Maybe in order to subvert the father/son violence cycle we must create the patriarchal cycle, I don't know. "Must" is probably too strong a word and this is just one of myriad possibilities.

So, now we start a new age - the Age of Aquarius (and the ages flow into each other, no age ever totally ends) to subvert the Age of Pisces/patriarchal cycle, but this doesn't mean we have to go back to the father/son violence cycle ie AI is going to kill us.

Although, yes, it still could.

Also save us - because maybe the individual savior in the Age of Pisces ie the one son merging with the one Sun is replaced by the collective humanity in the Age of Aquarius - Prometheus giving fire to ALL THE PEOPLE, not to any one particular person, so we all merge with the Sun/fire - and AI being an expression of our collective consciousness, well you can see where I am going with this line of thinking (more reason to pay attention to this summer's Mercury retrograde in Leo!! - post HERE). I don't know. Probably we can't know. Well, maybe someone knows. I'm not for getting all chummy with any of it anytime soon. The tech bro billionaires running this stuff with their Algol heavy charts are dangerous.

By next summer the North Node will be in Aquarius and whatever is going on with technology and humanitarian groups and causes and revolution/liberation will be really pulling us forward. It all looks rather dicey, but the outer planets will be in perfect sync with each other and with FATE. This is happening now, too, but by next summer there won't be any going back. Right now, there is still some going back/we aren't all in the right places yet.

There is still some wiggle room.

I hadn't put up a post on Uranus in Gemini other than at the start of the year, that post is HERE, and thought I should get something up. My thoughts on this are scattered and changing almost daily right now, but I guess that's to be expected for a third house Aquarius Sun :)

xo all - I hope something here is helpful. Use your own discretion with astrology folks, this is nothing more than my take. As I write this the Moon is waning/getting smaller. What is getting smaller in your life or needs to be? Just doing less of what you know you shouldn't be doing will be helpful ...
