the astrology of 2025 | general trends and overview of 2025 part III - URANUS, PLUTO AND NEPTUNE - the outer planets totally change life on earth by the mid 2030's

Part I is HERE

Part II is HERE

Every planet is different. They are living energies with intent and purpose, just like a person except MUCH bigger. Planets have plans and intelligence. They are going somewhere. Within us, they represent aspects of our psyche, our DNA, maybe our very soul - I don't know how this works only that it does.

You will notice if you read my blog I use the words "he and she" when referring to planets - this isn't about gender, but is about living beings. I have been told this 'he/she' thing creeps some people out and that I should use the word "it", but you can see how these big energies, God-like at the very least and named for the ancient Gods, are much more than "its".

Uranus, Pluto and Neptune are the OUTER planets.

They are considered the higher octaves of the inner planets. Uranus is the higher octave of Mercury. Pluto is the higher octave of Mars and Neptune is the higher octave of Venus. Their maneuverings move the COLLECTIVE energy forward, and our personal lives are pulled along with them. The outer planets are in all our charts, but they will resonate more for one person than another person. Their transits are lengthy (when in contact with a personal planet or point in your chart the transit can last for YEARS) and often define our life histories.

URANUS 'the great awakener' is the modern ruler of Aquarius. His particular nature is maybe best illustrated by his descendent Prometheus - the titan and creator of mankind who stole fire from the Gods and gave it to the people. This really pissed off Zeus, who did not want mankind to have any God-like powers, and, so, as punishment the immortal Prometheus was chained to a rock where an eagle pecked out his liver every night (until he was replaced by Chiron, but that's another story and Uranian/Aquarian people have to take care of their livers actually). Uranian vision and genius is alienating/always comes at a cost. Its group-centric, Prometheus didn't give fire to one person, he gave it to all people. It isn't about individuality. Uranus is a collective energy - individual consequences are not important to Uranus. The only thing that matters is that things change. Uranian revolutions always have collateral damage. The eggs get broken to make the omelet and we choose to not notice that the individual eggs are SCREAMING.

But, I am an Aquarian with a 10th house Uranus and get to say things like this :) Many years ago when I first started studying astrology and people would yearn for the coming 'Age of Aquarius'. I would sit quietly and nervously - already tuned into those screaming eggs (I believe this analogy came from something the amazing astrologer Liz Greene said in a lecture).

Anyway, for Uranus, and keep in mind I am turning something very complicated into a few hashtags, maybe think - radical change, freedom, chaos, disorder, you have to break a few eggs to make an omelet, electricity, breakthroughs, breakdowns, break-ups, lightning strikes, genius, rebel, the tower card, enlightenment.

Uranus has been in Taurus since 2019 shaking up our values, our resources, our money, the planet Earth. Having the planet of chaos/disorder/change in fixed earth has been collectively very de-stabilizing. Since our natal Taurus house is a space most people experience and desire stability, having Uranus here the last few years has been pretty crazy-making. I wrote about Uranus in Taurus for the first time HERE. I don't remember what I thought would happen, I will have to reread that post and see what I said :) Uranus will likely leave Taurus with something unexpected - aliens come to Earth?! MAYBE. But, maybe, the aliens have always been here (ie all of us) and the 'aliens come to Earth' is more about artificial intelligence which will almost surely be replicating itself somehow when Uranus gets into dualistic Gemini!

With Uranus in Taurus it has been best to avoid getting stuck in the mud, but if we are stuck in the mud, well, the good news is -

Uranus moves into Gemini on July 7, 2025.

NOTE - Uranus will only get to 1 degree Gemini in 2025. He will be in Gemini until November 2025, when he will retrograde back into Taurus for one final shake-up, before returning to Gemini in April 2026 and then he will be in Gemini (except for a sneak-peak into Cancer) until May 2033. Very smart and freedom-loving babies will be born with Uranus in Gemini. I wish I was young enough to have one. Maybe!

Uranus in Gemini will be about the change that changes. It will be about new ideas, new words and conversations. Tech and transportation and the way we communicate will be changing and moving at lightning speed. With Pluto in Aquarius answering to Uranus in Gemini and Saturn in Aries - the speed at which everything is happening will probably be unprecedented. Can things get any faster?! Gemini people and maybe especially Gemini risings will change. Our Gemini houses, planets and points - keep in mind these are areas of life where things have never been rock-solid for us anyway - will change. Childhoods can be disrupted/early education will change. Sibling relationships will shift/change course. Ideas/points of view we have had since childhood will change. With Uranus opposing Sagittarius, religious dogma will be uprooted. 'What is foreign' can change through opposition. Things within local communities that have been the same for a long time will change. Keep in mind - change is part of the process of living and needs to happen. The speed can be upsetting, but the outer planets will be - by 2026/2027 - making smooth aspects with each other. There is a method to their madness.

NEPTUNE is the modern ruler of Pisces and has been strong in Pisces since 2011.

Powerful mutable water. How does water change things? Water dissolves. Water washes away. Water erodes. Water suffocates. Neptune rules spirituality and dreaming. Neptune rules creativity and inspiration. Neptune rules illusion and escape. Neptune rules water and the sea, drugs and hospitals. It is the archetype of the mystic, the dreamer, the visionary and the compassionate (also the addict, the escapist, the pessimist). Pisces beckons us to look inside, to use our intuition, to feel our connection. Strong Neptune/Pisces people need to do some kind of meditation every day and have some alone time to empty themselves of all the crap they have collected from everywhere. We have all become spacey and forgetful with Neptune here. Our vision has been cloudy. It has been hard, if not impossible, to know what is real. Life has been a dream is one way of looking at it. Drugs have been idealized. Conspiracy theories are everywhere (some are true obviously). We are less grounded. Our boundaries have been thin. People think we are going to 'ascend' into another dimension. Are we? Who knows. Things that are not quite "real" have prospered and been idealized. Facebook. Social Media. Drugs. Wine. Bitcoin. Meditation. Fantasy. Spirituality. Video games. The music should have been better. Why hasn't the music been better? Probably the great musicians are all being born and the great music will come later ...

On March 30th, 2025 - Neptune enters Aries.

Planets on 0 degrees of a cardinal sign launch a new cycle (called an Aries point) and, outer planets especially, are uber important. This will be during a powerful Eclipse season and connected to our final 9 degree New Moon which is an Aries Eclipse. Both Venus and Mercury will be retrograde in Pisces (Mercury having stationed retrograde at that same 9 degree Aries, Venus at 10) and answering to Neptune. Something BIG will be happening.

(Trump will have a pile-up of 8th house planets, Mars will be conjunct his Saturn/Venus. Uranus will be exactly where he was during his previous assassination attempt. There is too much to list here going on in his chart and the U.S. chart and Vance's chart - which is a mini-me version of Trump's. This is not good. But maybe not what it looks like.)

Neptune will be in Aries until October 2025 when he will retrograde back into Pisces. Then Neptune will return to Aries in January 2026 and finally meet up with Saturn in February 2026. Neptune will be in Aries until March 2039.

With Neptune in Aries - our clouded vision and idealization shifts toward our cardinal fire energy. We might idealize masculine energy, whatever is new and starting, youth, assertiveness, anger, action.  Originality. Independence. Standing up for ourselves. Fighting for what we believe in. War. Independence. See, I already said independence and already can't see this clearly :) All these things might look better to us, as if rose-colored glasses have been slipped over our eyes when we look at them. Neptunian things like art and music and spirituality and mental health get FRESH STARTS and passionate hearts. New action, treatments, etc for mental health. New action on alzheimers. New action on healthcare. New action on drugs and addiction. New music. New art. New spiritual movements. Water initiatives. On the other hand, leaky boundaries can get firmed up/set afire - maybe no one is getting in. And, maybe, over time, the hard edges of our youthful masculine energy is softened, its fire watered down and made more compassionate and connecting. And everyone will love young men more and that is much needed, too. Saturn will be here, but just for the start of this thing. We will talk more about the Neptune/Saturn in the final overview because they are on a crash course with each other in early 2026 and we are going to have to think about what this will mean and how to work with this. Neptune dissolving what Saturn has started? Saturn making real Neptune's new dream?

PLUTO made his final move into Aquarius a few weeks ago

He will be in Aquarius until 2044.

Aquarian things will be empowered/destroyed. Pluto will expose the underbelly of humanity - the people's underbelly and things that have been hidden from the people. There will be revolutions with a focus on the future, rather than fighting about the past (although with Saturn in Aries there could be some fighting about the past for awhile). Many traditions will become irrelevant. There will be radical changes within groups and society (China has an early degree Aquarius Moon, so could go first). Detachment and intellect will be empowered. Due to Pluto's opposition with Leo, we will need to hold onto our human-ness (even our ego) and protect our Leo hearts. Tech will be empowered and, very likely, ultimately destroyed. It is a LONG transit.

That's all I have for this morning. Please excuse any typos The good news for us with all the changes ahead is that the outer planets will be in good stead with each other by 2026. By 2027, these energies will be much more settled into their new spaces.

We will look back at the 2020's as a whirlwind and not believe how far we have come and what we have all been through. TOGETHER.

Back with the 2025 Eclipses.

xo all and Happy New Year!
