On Tuesday, June 30th, 2026, Jupiter bids hasta-la-vista to Cancer and enters Leo!
Jupiter has been in Cancer for the last year expanding our natal Cancer house theme, our home, sense of safety, roots, belonging, family, history, memory, patriotism and emotional intelligence.
Jupiter in Cancer has asked us to think about, "Where do I belong?". Often the Jupiterian luck/gifts, that he is so famous for, are CUMULATIVE, and they come after some risk or trial or are prone to showing up at the very end of his stay.
Jupiter naturally rules what is foreign to us - distant lands, travelers and the wisdom that comes from meeting people whose lives have unfolded differently than our own - and over the past few weeks, millions of World Cup visitors haven't simply come to watch soccer, and we talked about this HERE - they've reflected something back to America (a Cancer Sun country) that many of us had forgotten.
After many years when our attention has been consumed by division and all the very real things wrong here, they've reminded us of the things that are right - our generosity, our openness and our remarkable ability to welcome people from every corner of the world AS GUESTS. America has never been one voice or one way of thinking - it is fifty states, countless communities, and people from every imaginable background learning, imperfectly, to share a home. Of course we don't always agree with each other - we never have and we never will.
Sometimes it takes strangers to remind us of who we really are. I thought the United States, a Cancer country, might somehow expand its borders with Jupiter here, but didn't see the way it was going to happen. This was the way.
Cancer asks, "Where do I belong?" and then Leo asks, "Now that I know where I belong/what I need to feel safe - WHAT WILL I CREATE?"
That is a very different question! And this doesn't mean we have all answered the first question, but we have all been given opportunities over the course of the last year to think about and work through Cancerian situations that have expanded. For better or worse.
Jupiter, the natural ruler of Sagittarius, loves drama. Leo loves drama. So, what is coming can be dramatic. If fact the drama could be IMMENSE - pull up a chair (yes, a recliner) and make some popcorn (maybe not the kind with the fake butter though)!
Jupiter is the largest planet in our solar system. If we put all the other planets and the moon and all the asteroids and all the meteors and comets together on a scale - mighty Jupiter would still outweigh them. Astrophysicists believe he was almost our second sun (and he definitely thinks so, too). Jupiter graciously generates more heat than he receives from the sun - and is associated with expansion, generosity and abundance.
Jupiter is the space that views our life as a journey of prosperity and expansion - from the moment we are born he is widening our vista, nudging us toward new horizons and whispering shouting in our ears be brave and GROW dammit!
The danger of Jupiter in Leo is kind of obvious - things get too big, too much risk, too much ego, performance, attention seeking, kings and celebrities. But Jupiter's higher expression in Leo has never really been about applause because Jupiter is the teacher/the mentor/the sage - Jupiter's highest expression has always been about MEANING. In Leo, Jupiter/the King of the Gods - asks whether our unique light actually serves life. And it might just be his opposition to Pluto in Aquarius as this transit gets started, that pulls that question out of him.
Jupiter enters Leo and opposes Pluto, trines Neptune and sextiles Uranus. He comes in on the last day of June, a day after Mercury stations retrograde and we have a Full Moon in Capricorn. The South Node moves into Leo at the end of July, and we have the first Leo Eclipse at the end of August. Jupiter enters Leo hand-in-hand with Isis (don't tell Juno!) and we are going to have a Mars retrograde in early 2027 ... in Leo that should be all kinds of fun. :) Let's unpack some of this.
JUPITER OPPOSITE PLUTO
This is one of the defining aspects of Jupiter's year and it hits right out of the gate. Jupiter says - "I want to grow." Pluto in AQUARIUS asks - "Who benefits if you do?"
Aquarius doesn't care whether the king shines. Aquarius cares whether the kingdom functions. So, the opposition isn't simply ego versus community. It's more something like - can personal greatness exist without becoming domination? Can individual creativity strengthen the collective rather than consume it? Can leadership empower instead of control?
There will likely be enormous personalities, powerful influencers, charismatic leaders, billionaires, politicians, AI pioneers - all Jupiter in Leo themes -meeting Pluto's insistence that power itself must evolve. Probably quite a few of them will have Jupiter/Pluto aspects in their own charts. For most of us collectively the question will be - how do I become more visible/use my heart more without losing my integrity?
SOUTH NODE ENTERS LEO
Jupiter will have about one month in Leo before the South Node of the Moon moves into Leo. This changes ALOT. Jupiter is expanding Leo just as the South Node begins emptying Leo.
The South Node doesn't say "don't do Leo." But it does say - stop doing the unconscious version. Stop over-doing Leo! There is a Total Solar Eclipse in Leo in August (20 degrees). The eclipse suggests that our old relationship with visibility, fame, leadership and identity has reached completion.
Old Leo says - LOOK AT ME. LOOK WHAT I CAN DO. New Leo says - LOOK WHAT I CAN OFFER. The difference is enormous. The difference can change the world. We are blessed to have the South Node in Leo with Jupiter in Leo! We may collectively discover that attention itself isn't nourishment. Purpose is. We knew this once but may have forgotten.
THE TOTAL SOLAR ECLIPSE
Because it is a South Node eclipse, I would suspect it won't simply launch new leaders. It may eclipse old ones. Old identities. Old performances. Old brands. Old stories we've been telling about ourselves. Since Jupiter is nearby by sign, whatever leaves creates space for something much larger to emerge. Eclipses often remove before they reveal. Trump was born on an Eclipse and had a North Node Eclipse (the future) during the first summer of his first term - you might remember he looked right into it :). Now, as a Leo rising President of a country with a natal North Node in Leo he gets the South Node (ending) Eclipse ...
JUPITER TRINES NEPTUNE
I love this aspect and I have this natally and when I had Neptune on my natal Jupiter and both trining my natal Neptune I was crazy psychic and my creativity was crazy high (this was in Pisces/Scorpio 5th and 1st houses for you astro buffs). My intuition was off the charts, and I think we can all have some of this now. Neptune in Aries is trying to dream the future into existence. Jupiter in Leo gives those dreams a heart. Instead of merely imagining something different, Leo says - the hell with it, let's make it! This could be an extraordinarily creative period. Art. Film. Music. Theater. Storytelling. Children. Education. Spiritual creativity. The willingness to inspire instead of merely criticize - we have been there/done that with the South Node in Virgo for the last year, right?
Neptune provides imagination. Leo provides courage. Jupiter provides faith.
JUPITER SEXTILE URANUS
This feels more like creative innovation than technological disruption for its own sake or at least I am hopeful based on the other aspects. Uranus in Gemini experiments. Leo performs. Think of breakthroughs in education, entertainment, communication, tech assisted creativity, publishing, performance, gaming, media. How do new technologies help humans become more human? Is this possible? That's a much more Jupiterian question than simply making everything faster and bigger. Let's hope people are asking it. Let's ask it ourselves. We have to get this part right.
JUPITER TRINES SATURN
This is maybe my favorite future aspect. Jupiter wants possibility. Saturn wants reality/permanence. Dreams become businesses. Ideas become books. Artists become masters. Leaders become institutions. After so much cardinal instability over the past couple of years, this feels wonderfully HOPEFUL. Jupiter and Saturn will make three trines over 18 months.
ISIS
MERCURY IS RETROGRADE IN CANCER
This is important background information. Jupiter will enter Leo just a day after Mercury stations retrograde and we have a big Full Moon in Capricorn the day before, too. Before we go rushing into Leo shouting, we will keep in mind 1. the Moon has just been sobered and is waning and Jupiter in Leo is answering to the Sun in Cancer who is answering to the Moon and 2. Mercury - an uber important personal planet - is RETROGRADE. Before expressing ourselves too loud and proud, it will pay off for us later, if we first - remember, reflect, reconsider our story and what we are saying/doing/showing
Cancer is memory. Leo is authorship. So maybe we don't simply invent a new identity. Maybe we recover one. Have you ever seen the video where people are asked to 'run like a girl' and everyone runs like an idiot except the actual girls (young girls) who run really fast. Maybe something like this needs recovering regardless of our gender. And since this is kind of repeating the Isis "restoration/integration" theme - and repeating themes are usually sure- fire things when we stumble upon them - yes, we can probably count on RE-COVERING something. Personally, I hope it's the hard-earned riches stolen from me in the 1500's :)
THE FULL MOON IN CAPRICORN
This isn't the centerpiece of the story, but it does color Jupiter's entrance, so we will take a look. The Full Moon in Capricorn happening the day before has just illuminated responsibility, consequences and maturity. Then Jupiter enters Leo while the Moon is still in Capricorn, under pressure from Saturn. So Jupiter's entrance isn't carefree. It's almost as if Saturn is standing at the doorway saying (and we actually have a Sun square Saturn applying and happening within days) - you may become larger but just don't confuse expansion with entitlement.
Something else I have noticed with the Cancer/Leo transition. Cancer and Leo are consecutive signs for a reason. Cancer asks, "Who loves me? and Leo asks, "What do I love enough to give away?" Jupiter's year in Cancer expanded belonging. Jupiter's year in Leo may ask what we do with the security we've found. If Cancer fills the cup, healthy Leo pours it.
And because Pluto, the South Node, and the Eclipse all become involved almost immediately, this doesn't look like a year for performative confidence. It looks like a year for discovering which forms of self-expression are life-giving and which identities, ambitions and performances have become COSTUMES THAT NO LONGER FIT.
That feels like a much deeper expression of Jupiter in Leo than simply "shine brighter". Thank you, Pluto opposition. Maybe we want to become so fully ourselves that our light stops being just about us and starts becoming something others can see by. It's been the fans that have lit up the World Cup even more than the star players - keep this in mind.
MARS RETROGRADE IN LEO IN EARLY 2027
Mars is going to get all the way through Leo at the end of 2026 and then he is going to get to 10-degrees Virgo in January 2027 and turn around. He will go all the way back to 20-degrees Leo before stationing direct on April 1st/April Fool's Day and since 20-degrees Leo is also the degree of the late August Total Solar Eclipse something from late August 2026 is going to connect to something in early April 2027. Mars will meet Jupiter once in Leo on November 16, 2026 (25-degrees).
THE LIGHTHOUSE
Popular writer Anne Lamont said - "Lighthouses don't go running all over the island looking for boats to save - they just stand there shining."
I am thinking maybe this is a good way to look at the bridge from Jupiter in Cancer into Jupiter in Leo. Cancer spent the year asking -Where is home? And now Leo asks - Now that you've found your center, what light naturally shines from it?
A lighthouse doesn't advertise.
It doesn't perform.
It doesn't look for approval.
It doesn't convince ships to come closer ...it doesn't have enticing chocolate cookies with sprinkles.
It simply fulfills its purpose by becoming fully what it was built to be.
The lighthouse doesn't dim itself out of humility, nor does it flash like a disco ball to prove its importance. It shines steadily because that's its nature and because someone else may need that light! This is something like what we are called to do with Jupiter in Leo and Pluto in Aquarius.
That's healthy Leo. And living our healthy Leo will also involve our natal Sun sign and our natal Sun's house because THAT is who we are and how we are meant to shine!
Another thing the World Cup has done for us here in America - Jupiter (the wide old world) in Cancer (the United States Cancer Sun on its birthday) may have reminded us that America is home. Jupiter in Leo may ask - now that we've remembered who we are, what kind of light do we become for others?
That feels much richer than nationalism. A lighthouse doesn't lock its harbor, it welcomes travelers (this isn't about open-borders - individually and collectively we can see the need for borders/boundaries) and the travelers are reminded of what they love and miss about their 'home' too through the contrast. The lighthouse is rooted in one place, yet its purpose is to serve those arriving from somewhere else. That is a remarkably fitting image for Jupiter leaving Cancer - the sign of home - and entering Leo, the sign of the heart.
The light doesn't diminish because it is shared.
It fulfills its purpose by being visible.

Let's take a quick look by house.
LEO | Leo Rising - 1st House - Identity - this is your year to become more visible, confident, and unapologetically yourself. But as Pluto challenges from the 7th, relationships become the crucible. As you grow into a bigger version of yourself, others may resist or invite you into deeper authenticity. Leadership begins with self-knowledge/not self-importance - keep this in mind.
CANCER | Cancer Rising - 2nd House - Values and Resources - Jupiter expands your earning potential and reminds you of your gifts and resources and what you already own, while Pluto asks whether your sense of worth depends too much on outside approval or shared resources. True abundance comes from recognizing what cannot be taken away.
GEMINI - Gemini Rising - Voice and Learning - your ideas want an audience. Writing, teaching, speaking, and learning all receive a boost. Pluto in the 9th asks you to question your own beliefs even as you share them. The most compelling teachers are usually lifelong students.
TAURUS | Taurus Rising - Home and Foundations - home, family, and your inner life become sources of pride and renewal. Pluto in the 10th challenges the balance between your private life and public ambitions. Success means little if it costs you the place where your heart feels at home.
ARIES | Aries Rising 5th House - Creativity and Joy - Leo's natural house comes alive! Creative projects, romance, children, hobbies, and play expand. Pluto in the 11th reminds you that your gifts are meant to contribute something larger than personal applause. Create because you have something to give. THIS IS ALSO THE COLLECTIVE INFLUENCE.
PISCES | Pisces Rising - 6th house - Work and Well-Being - daily routines become more meaningful and perhaps more enjoyable. Jupiter encourages taking pride in your craft, while Pluto in the 12th exposes unconscious habits that undermine your health or effectiveness. Small daily choices become surprisingly powerful.
AQUARIUS | Aquarius Rising 7th House - Relationships - partnerships become bigger, warmer and more generous. Pluto in the 1st ensures that relationships cannot remain superficial. The healthiest partnerships allow both people to shine without either eclipsing the other!
CAPRICORN - Cappy Rising - 8th House - Transformation and Shared Money/Resources - trust, intimacy, healing and shared finances expand your world. Pluto in the 2nd asks you to examine where power and money have become intertwined with self-worth. Maybe vulnerability becomes a source of strength rather than weakness.
SAGITTARIUS | Sag Rising 9th House - Beliefs and Horizons - travel, education, publishing, legal situations, what is foreign and new adventures call your name. Pluto in the 3rd challenges certainty. The greatest wisdom often comes not from defending your worldview, but from allowing it to evolve. Keep an open mind Sag!
SCORPIO | Scorpio Rising - 10th House - Career and Calling - recognition, leadership, and visibility increase. Opportunities may arrive that place you center stage. Pluto in the 4th reminds you that authentic authority grows from strong roots. Build a legacy, not just a reputation.
LIBRA | Libra Rising - 11th House - Community and Future Vision/Goals - friends, groups, tech and long-term dreams expand your horizons. Pluto in the 5th asks whether you're contributing your unique gifts or simply blending into the crowd. Your individuality strengthens the community when offered generously.
VIRGO | Virgo Rising - Spirit and Solitude - growth comes quietly through rest, reflection, healing and spiritual renewal. Pluto in the 6th asks you to transform daily habits that keep you disconnected from yourself. Sometimes the most important light is the one kindled where no one else can see it yet.
