the astrology of the new moon in gemini | part III - a new piece of information, a fated adjustment, a crossroads, new moon horoscopes by sign

We will get back to the 'big picture' with this New Moon in the next post!

I got lost in the New York Knicks game yesterday (!) and didn't get that next part up and I think we should skip over to the most relevant pieces for us personally with this New Moon since Gemini is a very immediate/personal sign.

In other words, let's do a regular New Moon post, too.

OK, so, tonight at 10:54PM EDT the Gemini Moon meets up with the Gemini Sun at 24 degrees giving us our annual New Moon in multi-tasking/two-is-better-than-one GEMINI.

The Moon is making a sextile to Chiron at the very end of Aries and opposing Black Moon Lilith in Sagittarius. Gemini's ruler Mercury is squaring Saturn and sextiling Mars. And among all the other commotion (Gemini always has more than one thing going on at a time) we have the background energy of Uranus, also in Gemini, squaring the Nodes of Fate - so the Moon on her way to the Sun has met up with Uranus and squared the Nodes of Fate (this was yesterday) - and we have Venus just moved into Leo, so leaving Jupiter and preparing to oppose Pluto.

The Moon/Sun in Gemini puts the focus on our communication, thinking, ideas, on what we are learning and what we are teaching, on our siblings, our tech/transportation and our local community. The sign of the twins and duality - we are very likely seeing double or doing two things at once now!

The New Moon is closely sextile Chiron in late Aries. A healing of identity through curiosity. Through conversations and questions and all the Gemini things we just talked about. Chiron in Aries has been exposing wounds around our right to exist as ourselves, to take up space and to start and live life on our own terms. Gemini offers a surprisingly effective medicine and it's about giving up certainty for EXPERIMENTATION.

Gemini pulls in choices/options as soon as we give up the need for certainty.

And then we have that opposition to Black Moon Lilith who has been in Sagittarius for months. I see Black Moon Lilith as a shame wound that connects to our time on our mother's wound/the nine months when we WERE HER.

With Lilith in Sagittarius, that shame can arise around - wanting freedom, wanting answers, wanting to leave, wanting to know more, questioning authority, seeking truth outside the accepted story, having faith in your own experience. People born with BML in Sag or the 9th house often learn very early that curiosity is dangerous. Don't ask that. Don't wander too far. Don't think you know better. Stay where it is safe, etc. Some of this can be very well-meaning, but the result can be a kind of 'split'. One part of us desperately wants/needs expansion. And another part distrusts what/anyone who embodies it. Now we weren't all born with Black Moon Lilith in our 9th house or Sagittarius, but BML here now, and opposing the New Moon, pulls something like this into the New Moon story.

The Gemini Sun/Moon are saying to Lilith , "You don't need to know the ultimate truth todayYou only need to give yourself permission to ask the next honest question." And this can be where wounded healer Chiron comes in because the healing isn't found by proving ourselves right. The healing comes from accepting that our very natural desire to know, explore, learn, question, and grow OUTSIDE where we were planted - was never wrong in the first place.

Then we have the larger backdrop I am going to focus on this with the New Moon by sign part next because it is probably the LOUDEST part. Uranus has just entered Gemini and is squaring the Nodes. The New Moon is occurring in a field already charged by disruptive/future-focused Uranus. Uranus squaring the North Node of Fate is asking us - because remember this is Gemini/choices/multiple ways forward - if maybe the future cannot be reached by repeating the past.

Squares to the Nodes frequently coincide with choice points. Not necessarily choices we consciously make. Sometimes life makes them for us. The old timeline destabilizes. A skipped step appears. Something we have been avoiding suddenly demands attention.

A friend is about 30 years old with a very sick father in hospice. She is a Leo rising, so the North Node in Pisces/8th house is asking her for a timely surrender/sacrifice. Her natal Sun is in her 12th house, so this loss is very fated. The skipped step is that she is still living at home/didn't make those future goals and connections (11th house Gemini) she should have made years ago to start her life and now she is going to have to do that.

Because Uranus is now in Gemini, for all of us the skipped step may involve - new information, a new perspective, a conversation, a piece of technology/transportation, a different way of thinking about something, something connected to our local community, a sibling/cousin, a realization that changes everything that follows.

The future arrives first as a thought. Then as a choice. Then as a completely different life. Gemini is perspective. What we notice becomes what we think about, what we talk about, what we act on. What we notice becomes who we are. It's a good time to notice what we are noticing.

What else do we have going on?

Mercury, ruler of this lunation as the ruler of Gemini, is in Cancer. This is important because Mercury is not operating like a detached Gemini Mercury. The information being received now is EMOTIONAL. Personal. Ancestral. Protective. Connected to belonging. Connected to memory. Connected to what we care about.

Mercury's square to Saturn in Aries suggests reality checks. Responsibilities. Boundaries. The need to make something real. The need to grow up around an issue. A square from Saturn often asks something like - "What are you going to do about it?" Saturn doesn't ask us what we think or what we want, he asks us what are we going to build/commit to.

Mercury is also sextile Mars in Taurus. That gives the chart traction. Mars in Taurus doesn't rush. He stabilizes. He takes the NEXT PRACTICAL STEP. This is extremely helpful because Uranus can bring overwhelming downloads and Gemini can scatter our attention all over the place. Mars in Taurus is about - CHOOSE ONE PRACTICAL THING AND DO THAT.

To recap - A new future begins when we stop shaming ourselves for what we genuinely want to know or maybe what we need to OUTGROW.  The Chiron sextile suggests healing. The Moon opposing Black Moon Lilith makes self-acceptance non-negotiable - the parts we've exiled don't disappear - they just go feral. Mercury/Saturn asks for maturity (trust the real words/don't be vague to be safe). Mercury/Mars asks for PRACTICAL implementation. And Uranus squaring the Nodes suggests a crossroads.

And with Uranus standing at the very BEGINNING of Gemini - something is JUST GETTING STARTED - so these seemingly small questions and ideas may end up opening doors that alter the entire trajectory of the years ahead.

Let's take a look by sign.

I am really focusing on the Uranus/Nodes here activated by the New Moon. This will likely all be triggered when Mars gets here at the end of June. Aries is the universal energy so applies to everyone. If you know your rising sign use that as well as your Sun sign.

Keep in mind - Uranus/Nodal square is often a skipped step moment. Something that has been avoided, postponed, denied or simply not yet developed suddenly becomes impossible to ignore. Because Uranus has just entered Gemini, the skipped step often arrives through new information, a conversation, a realization, technology, siblings/cousins, neighbors, education, media, or a radically different perspective. The Pisces North Node suggests movement toward surrender, trust, intuition, compassion and acceptance of uncertainty. The Virgo South Node suggests releasing excessive control, perfectionism, analysis-paralysis and the belief that everything can be solved/fixed through effort.

So, the axis holding Pisces/Virgo will show the crossroad while Uranus in Gemini shows where the disruption or awakening comes in.

ARIES | Aries Rising - Pisces North Node in the 12th House, Virgo South Node in the 6th House, Uranus in Gemini in the 3rd House

A realization, conversation, piece of information, or shift in perspective changes how you approach work, health, obligations, or daily responsibilities. The skipped step may involve trusting intuition instead of trying to manage every detail. Something that once felt necessary to control may no longer require your constant attention. The future asks for more faith and less micromanagement. New ideas and new ways of thinking help free you from old patterns of stress and overwork.

TAURUS | Taurus Rising - Pisces North Node in the 11th House, Virgo South Node in the 5th House, Uranus in Gemini in the 2nd House

Questions about money, security, talents and values disrupt old ideas about creativity, romance, children or personal recognition. The future may require releasing attachment to being noticed, validated or in control of how your gifts are received. Friends, groups, and collective goals become increasingly important. A new understanding of your worth may help you find your place within something larger than yourself.

GEMINI | Gemini RisingPisces North Node in the 10th House, Virgo South Node in the 4th House, Uranus in Gemini in the 1st House

This is a deeply personal crossroads. Your identity is changing. The skipped step may involve leaving behind family expectations, old emotional conditioning, or a version of yourself created for safety and survival. The future is calling you into a more authentic public role. There may be some grief around the person you once needed to be, but excitement around the person you are becoming.

CANCER | Cancer RisingPisces North Node in the 9th House, Virgo South Node in the 3rd House, Uranus in Gemini in the 12th House

A profound shift is occurring beneath the surface. Old explanations, familiar stories, or habitual ways of making sense of life may be dissolving. Dreams, intuition, synchronicities, and unconscious material become increasingly important. The skipped step involves trusting mystery rather than demanding certainty. Something larger than logic is trying to get your attention.

LEO | Leo RisingPisces North Node in the 8th House, Virgo South Node in the 2nd House, Uranus in Gemini in the 11th House

There can be a bittersweet recognition that something cannot continue as it has. A financial arrangement, attachment, possession, source of security or old value system may need to be surrendered so deeper trust, intimacy, healing, or shared resources can emerge. The catalyst often comes through friends, groups, community, networks or future goals. There may be grief around what is ending, but also excitement around a new future becoming visible. The question becomes - can I release what feels safe for what feels alive?

VIRGO | Virgo Rising Pisces North Node in the 7th House, Virgo South Node in the 1st House, Uranus in Gemini in the 10th House

Career developments, public changes, or unexpected opportunities force a reevaluation of independence versus partnership. The skipped step may involve recognizing that self-sufficiency has become isolation. Relationships become the growth edge. Learning to trust, collaborate and receive support becomes more important than proving competence. A changing public role may require new forms of cooperation.

LIBRA | Libra RisingPisces North Node in the 6th House, Virgo South Node in the 12th House, Uranus in Gemini in the 9th House

Belief systems are changing. A teacher, course, journey, legal matter, philosophy or spiritual awakening disrupts old patterns of withdrawal, avoidance, or unconscious self-sabotage. The future requires bringing wisdom into practical application. It is no longer enough to understand something - it must become part of your everyday life. Take care of your health.

SCORPIO | Scorpio Rising - Pisces North Node in the 5th House, Virgo South Node in the 11th House, Uranus in Gemini in the 8th House

Shared resources, intimacy, debt, inheritances or psychological breakthroughs disrupt old loyalties to groups, expectations, or collective identities. The skipped step may involve reclaiming personal joy, creativity, love, and self-expression. The future asks you to create from the heart rather than seek approval from the crowd. What truly nourishes you becomes more important than what is expected of you.

SAGITTARIUS | Sag RisingPisces North Node in the 4th House, Virgo South Node in the 10th House, Uranus in Gemini in the 7th House

Partnerships become catalysts for major change. A relationship may challenge old definitions of success, achievement, responsibility, or public identity. The skipped step may involve recognizing that emotional fulfillment matters as much as accomplishment. Home, family, roots and inner peace become increasingly important as life asks for a different definition of success.

CAPRICORN | Cappy RisingPisces North Node in the 3rd House, Virgo South Node in the 9th House, Uranus in Gemini in the 6th House

Changes in work, health, schedules, technology or daily routines challenge old beliefs and assumptions. The skipped step may involve letting go of the need to have all the answers. The future emerges through curiosity, flexibility, learning and through everyday conversations. New information may require adjustments to long-held viewpoints.

AQUARIUS | Aquarius RisingPisces North Node in the 2nd House, Virgo South Node in the 8th House, Uranus in Gemini in the 5th House

Creative risks, romance, children, passion projects, or self-expression disrupt old patterns of dependency, crisis management, or emotional entanglement. The skipped step may involve recognizing your value independent of what others provide. This is a powerful turning point around self-worth. The future asks you to invest in your own talents, gifts and creative potential.

PISCES | Pisces RisingPisces North Node in the 1st House, Virgo South Node in the 7th House, Uranus in Gemini in the 4th House

Home, family, roots, relocation, ancestry or your emotional foundation becomes a catalyst for identity change. The skipped step may involve releasing excessive accommodation of others. Changes within your personal life may ultimately push you toward greater authenticity. The future asks you to become more fully yourself, even if that means disappointing people who have grown comfortable with the old version of you dear Pisces.

xo all - I will add that whenever we have a 'crossroads' chart I always go looking for asteroid/Goddess Hekate - and she is tightly conjunct the North Node in Pisces now - confirming the CROSSROADS/heading toward/leaving something behind. Trump is Uranus and it's his birthday, so a crazy powerful crossroads for him and pulled into his year ahead.
