On Saturday, September 26th, 2026, at 12:49PM EDT the Aries Moon opposes the Libra Sun giving us this month's Full Moon - our annual Full Moon in fiery and independent Aries.
The Full Moon is always a time of tension (there is something to all that howling after all) - it's a time of Sun opposite Moon. Oppositions are pretty much just what they sound like and this one is in the "me vs we" polarity of the Aries/Libra axis.
This is the culmination of the Aries New Moon that launched the lunar year back in April, so maybe something from that time is finishing up/becoming illuminated/peaking. And this is our annual Harvest Moon which means that results are delivered. Aries, the first sign, the sign of what is beginning/what we start, always complicates the conclusion a bit ... sometimes quite a bit.
Let's dive right in and unpack the chart!
The Full Moon/Sun opposition is 3-degrees Aries and Libra. 3 has been a HOT degree all around since at least the 4th of July. The Full Moon is tightly conjunct Neptune. The Full Moon sextiles Pluto and Uranus. The Full Moon is part of a Kite formation. The Sun is part of the Kite, too, and also a Grand Air Trine. The Moon is exactly conjunct asteroid Borasisi. Neptune is exactly conjunct asteroid Niobe and the Sun is tightly conjunct asteroid Phaethon. Asteroid Zeus exactly opposes Saturn and Ceres sits right on the United States Sun. Mars, the ruler of this lunation sits at the anaretic degree (29-degrees) of Cancer answering to the Moon who is answering to him and in an exact square to Chiron in Aries - also answering to Mars who is answering to the Moon who is answering to Mars. Hmm. Cue exploding head emoji :)
The Full Moon is tightly conjunct Neptune. A light on our dreams. A light on our illusions. The Neptune/Full Moon gives this lunation a Pisces Full Moon feel and we just had a Pisces Lunar Eclipse Full Moon last month exact almost to the day.
Neptune dissolves boundaries. Between land and water, dry and wet, warm and cold, well and unwell, us and spirit, us and the past, one person's atmosphere/mood/health and another's. Coupled with a Full Moon in Aries it can coincide with weather that is difficult to contain or predict - storms, heavy rain, flooding, fog, damp, changing temperatures - or with periods when our own physical boundaries feel more porous.
Neptune asks us to pay attention to what we cannot clearly see.
We can't see the moisture in the air until everything is damp.
We can't see the virus until someone is sick.
We can't see the gate dissolving until the swarm has crossed it.
And the Moon is the apex point of the kite structure and opposes the Libra Sun, while the Sun is part of the Uranus/Pluto/Sun Grand Air Trine. This is the same formations we had two weeks ago, but now the Moon itself sits at the opposition point off the Sun vertex and sextiling Uranus and Pluto almost to the minute. So, the tail of the kite - the piece under the most pressure, the part that has to move to release the whole configuration - is this Neptune/Niobe/Borasisi-soaked Aries Full Moon. The Grand Air Trine (idea, detachment, ideology, revolution, power) has a single outlet, and that outlet is flooded with emotional charge, imagination, symbolism, seduction and potentially difficult to distinguish from reality.
Asteroid Borasisi (66652) is named for the fabricated Sun-God of Kurt Vonnegut's book Cat's Cradle about the destruction of humanity through technology run amok and we have been talking about Borasisi for a while now because when Saturn met Neptune at 0-degrees Aquarius last spring Borasisi was right there with them. This Full Moon in Aries is EXACTLY conjunct Borasisi. This is a stark WARNING about artifical intelligence (which Trump wants to rename super intelligence ... or even ... supreme intelligence, eh wth I think this name is already taken?!). Borasisi isn't just a lie. Borasisi is the Sun in a manufactured cosmology - a fictional god embedded in a fictional religion whose own creator openly admits is foma. LIES.
And just as Borasisi sits exact with the Full Moon and tight with Neptune, asteroid Niobe sits exact with Neptune and tight with the Full Moon.
The central Niobe mythology is that she boasts of her superiority to the Goddess Leto because she herself has so many children while Leto has only two. Her abundance becomes evidence, in her mind, of her superiority. Leto's children Apollo and Artemis destroy Niobe's children, and Niobe is ultimately transformed into stone, eternally weeping. So, there are connections to arrogance, grief, loss of children.
Niobe speaks of something like - "Look at what I have created. Look at how much I have. Look at what this proves about me." And that is very different from simple hubris and can be even more dangerous (transiting Mars tight on Trump's natal Niobe at this lunation, Netanyahu's Niobe at that 3-degrees Gemini powered up my July 4th's Mars/Uranus conjunction and this Full Moon at 3-degrees Aries and sextile). It is mistaking abundance for invulnerability or mistaking what we have created for proof that we know what the hell we are doing.
Borasisi - we can invent a reality
Niobe - and then believe our invention proves our superiority
Neptune - and make this feel transcendent and connecting
Uranus - and make it possible at unprecedented speed
Pluto - and give it enormous systemic power, enough power to CHANGE THE STORY
Aries - and ACT ON IT
The problem isn't just that technology can be dangerous, which is a no-brainer, but that humans have created something extraordinarily powerful without understanding the larger system into which they have introduced it. The United Nations annual General Assembly Meeting is going on now. We have seen Netanyahu's presence again cause dozens of leaders to walk out (who thinks he is special by virtue of his 'special children/people' more than he does?). The tech CEOs have been speaking/panicking on artificial intelligence safety and global governance - more parents of 'special children'/more people playing God/building a God. Trump's U.N. speech might have seen him taken from the room in a straight-jacket a decade or so ago. But we aren't in Kansas anymore. Then Phaethon conjunct the Sun where he has always been most dangerous. Can we see where any of this is going? Is the answer really, no? Or is it that we don't want to? The perfect storm is brewing and here we are with this Full Moon in Aries that is like a Full Moon in Pisces ... with teeth. A perfect storm. The beginning of October looks dicey and will be playing out during this Full Moon cycle.
And Mars, as is often the case, is the key to this whole thing.
Because the Aries Moon answers to Mars at 29-degrees Cancer, the anaretic degree. It's now or never. So, the Moon's impulse doesn't simply discharge directly. It goes through this debilitated Mars in Cancer - emotion, memory, protection, defense, REACTION.
The good news for us with Mars in the Moon's sign and the Moon in Mars sign (each living in the other's house) - is that they can get back home through each other. Mars can get back to Aries through the Moon, and the Moon can get back to Cancer through Aries. I FEEL. I ACT. I FEEL THE CONSEQUENCES. I RESPOND.
That's useful for an Aries Full Moon because Aries wants immediate action, while Cancer wants to consider what that action means for what it protects. At its best this is about action that actually comes from caring about something. Rather than the Arian "I need to win" or "I need to prove myself," Mars in Cancer can say - What am I protecting? What matters enough to act for? Who or what needs me to act?
AND there is also a less helpful version of this I would be remiss to skip reporting on. The Moon in Aries is hot, immediate, autonomous. Mars in Cancer is emotional, defensive, protective, subjective. So, the exchange can become something like - Moon in Aries "I need to do something NOW." and Mars in Cancer "Yes, but first I need to protect myself." And because Mars is at 29-degrees Cancer, that Cancerian material is reaching a culmination point. There can be a sense of I've had enough. But that is where the mutual reception can become reactive rather than constructive. The Moon can trigger Mars' old emotional defenses, and Mars can feed the Moon's urgency. I feel threatened so I act and then my action makes me feel more threatened, so I act again. That's the less helpful version. We can't let something go and one thing just builds on the next thing.
And the bigger challenge here is that Mars is simultaneously squaring Chiron retrograde in Aries. Something very old HURTS and is driving our actions. So, maybe we are thinking (if this isn't a health thing because this could certainly be a health thing) - "I will never be powerless again." And that can be profoundly healthy. But it can also become something more like - "I will never be vulnerable again." And that's a whole other can of soup. The first produces agency (and I have been thinking about this word 'agency' and the way we use it now, because it hasn't always been used in this way and what it means especially with these autonomous ai agents). The second produces armor. And with Mars in Cancer, the armor can be built from old emotional survival strategies - the things we learned when we were trying to protect ourselves, our family, our territory, our belonging. We don't want wound followed by reaction. We want wound followed by awareness followed by choice followed by response. We still need action, but we need considered action.
And this feels particularly relevant to our larger Borasisi/Phaethon/Niobe interpretation. Because those myths all contain versions of acting from an emotionally charged conviction that is incorrect. This is the flashing yellow light!
(as I am typing this George tells me to go outside and we have the craziest rainbow and lighting/strange yellow glow - flashing yellow light! - and dark blue color in the air, that we have ever seen as we wait for this weekend's nor-easter)
Phaethon (tightly conjunct the Sun, so right where he can do the most damage - think about the myth!) - I must prove I can do this. Niobe - What I possess proves my superiority. Borasisi - The story feels real, so it becomes reality.
The Moon/Mars mutual reception asks a much more intimate question - what feeling is asking me to act and is that feeling giving me information or is it demanding that I prove something? Good God this is complicated for an Aries Full Moon and the wind here feels like it is blowing my house apart :)
BOTTOM LINE - the mutual reception may be the key to working with the opposition (the me vs we). The Moon is in Mars's sign, so our emotional experience wants to become action. AND Mars is in the Moon's sign, so action has to pass through feeling. That means neither planet gets to escape the other. We can't simply feel without eventually doing something. AND we can't simply act without confronting what we feel.
Don't just have the feeling. Find the action that honestly belongs to it. Don't just take the action. Find the feeling underneath it. There is a kind of escape-hatch from 'reactivity' here. Which is an especially good thing if we are already feeling emotionally wound up/pushed into a corner.
Neptune retrograde still carries the DREAM (or illusion), but the dream/illusion is changed. Mars at the end of Cancer suggests that an old emotional pattern of protecting ourselves, looking backward or carrying the past has reached its limit. Something is ready to move. The square to Chiron says we might feel surprisingly tender, uncertain or even weak at the very moment we are being asked to act. We will allow ourselves to feel that. Strength does not require us to be invulnerable. Don't mistake vulnerability as a reason to abandon what we know is right. Also, keep in mind we won't be able to see other people clearly right now - it's Libra season so we want to keep in mind the other person will have a different perspective. That's how this works. On Sunday, Mars enters Leo. The emotional labor of Cancer gives way to fire - confidence, creativity, courage and the willingness to take a risk/be visible for something REAL (Mars will retrograde through Leo in early 2027, so this new Martian fire energy will be long and tested, too). We are standing at the edge of a new chapter. The fear has not disappeared, but maybe it no longer gets to make the decision. Or won't by the time Mars finally leaves Leo next May.
This Full Moon plays out over the next two weeks as Luna wanes. I hope something here is helpful.
NOTE - it will not be easy to make a decision now, and I can't tell you which way to lean because this is Libra season and leaning isn't really the point, old health stuff can crop up and need to be sorted, brain fog and intuition can be heightened, get enough rest AND enough exercise, sugar/alcohol/drugs effects can be increased or decreased, so know that wanting more doesn't mean we should be having more, weather can be wet/destructive, other people can be challenging and we won't be seeing them clearly/they won't be seeing us clearly either, it will be easier to catch a cold/bad mood/good mood/case of scabies - you get the idea, also being that this is an Aries Full Moon with Neptune which is similar but not the same as a Pisces Full Moon - all this stuff can have a bit more BITE.

ARIES | Aries Rising - the face you show the world touches something manufactured - not fake maybe, but unverified. Something you've built your identity on gets tested for whether it's actually solid or just well-told. Mars, your ruler, is exiting stage lefft/weak and wounded, so don't confuse this week's version of you with the final one.
What is authentic when you no longer need to convince anyone?
PISCES | Pisces Rising - what you own, earn or call "mine" gets fused with what you're worth - the Niobe error, applied to money or possessions. Abundance is not the same as proof. Check whether you're measuring what you have or what it means about you.
What is actually worth holding onto?
AQUARIUS | Aquarius Rising - a story you tell gets treated as more solid than it is, maybe by you or by someone listening. Words this week can calcify into myth fast, so say the true, smaller thing instead of the compelling, bigger one.
What do you know, what do you believe, and what have you simply heard often enough to feel true?
CAPRICORN | Cappy Rising - Cancer holds Mars, so the domestic/ancestral axis is exactly where the pressure lands for you dear Cappy. You can't retreat into the house this week because the house is what's asking the question.
What have you been protecting, and does the old defense still belong in the present?
SAGITTARIUS | Sag Rising - Something you made - art, a child, a project, a public act of pride sits at the fusion point of this Full Moon. Niobe's warning is sharpest here. Let the thing you created stay separate enough from your worth that losing it wouldn't erase you. LIBRA | Libra Rising - a relationship carries the fabricated-god pattern and someone (possibly you, possibly someone else) is cast as more real/more certain/maybe more oracle than they've earned. Test the partnership against fact, not against how good the story feels.

VIRGO | Virgo Rising - old grief that froze rather than moved gets nudged. Niobe's stone-weeping is native territory here and something you've been holding rigid for protection may be ready to actually flow or may need one more week held still. Don't force it either direction.

Phaethon's desire to prove himself and Niobe's desire to display her accomplishments are especially relevant here.

GEMINI | Gemini Rising - a community, cause, friend group or collective story carries this Full Moon story. The group's founding myth gets tested against what's actually true. Watch for a "we" that's really a Borasisi - comforting, organizing but not entirely honest. This may be the most obviously Uranus/Pluto/Borasisi house.
A collective dream can inspire us, but it can also become a collective illusion.
TAURUS | Taurus Rising - the undertow itself ie grief, dissolution, memories older than you are conscious of, the parts you don't say out loud - surface at the Full Moon's most private angle. This is the house where Niobe's tears actually fall, so let something be felt here rather than performed anywhere else.
