This week is all about Thursday, September 10th, 2026.
ALOT IS GOING ON THIS DAY.
This doesn't mean everything is happening on that exact date, but the week will build upon and unravel itself all around the energies of THURSDAY
There are a gazillion aspects, but underneath all the celestial traffic, there are really four movements happening at once -
Two rulers leave the houses they built (and become guests in other planet's signs) - 1. Mercury leaves Virgo for Libra. 2. Venus leaves Libra for Scorpio
The ruler of rulers turns around - 3. Uranus stations retrograde
and we have the New Moon in Virgo - 4. The Sun and Moon meet at 18-degrees Virgo
And underneath all this, Mercury is moving toward a Pluto/Neptune trine/opposition, exact on Saturday, which gives the week a kind of "what did we just realize, and what does it actually mean?" flavor. Think about how in the Wizard of Oz, Dorothy moves from black-and-white to technicolor and suddenly discovers that the world is much bigger, stranger and more complicated than she thought - and then has to figure out how to navigate it.
ACT I - THE GODS LEAVE HOME - Mercury leaves Virgo. Venus leaves Libra. We leave the territory where we know what we're doing.
This has to happen. Think about the kids going back to school and entering a new grade.
Mercury has been in Virgo, where he/she is exceptionally capable. Can analyze, sort, categorize, distinguish, improve. Venus has been in Libra, where she is equally at home and can most effectively relate, negotiate, balance, cooperate. We have been operating with relatively familiar tools. Mercury could think his way through. Venus could relate her way through.
Now the story changes/a new chapter begins - Mercury enters Libra and has to think through other people's perspectives, competing needs and uncomfortable compromises. Venus enters Scorpio and has to deal with attachment, vulnerability, power, intimacy, shared resources and what lies beneath the surface.
Mercury is leaving the clean distinctions of Virgo and entering Libra, where every thought acquires a second side. Mercury wants to distinguish; Libra wants to weigh. So, our mind can become more diplomatic but also more wishy/washy, hesitant, more comparative and occasionally more capable of talking in circles. There will be some superficial chitchat and passive aggressive stuff while Mercury is in Libra, too. That's all to be expected.
The good news though is that none of this can happen without other people - Mercury in Libra is all about social interactions. Virgo doesn't need other people to analyze, but Libra can't achieve balance without them!
So, to be successful our words are more polite now. We need to listen. If we want our communications to hit their target we need to make the other person feel listened to.
With Venus entering Scorpio, Scorpio Suns and Ascendants (Scorpio on the cusp of the first house of your natal chart) become more attractive - making them both easier on the eye and it easier for them to attract what they want.
For all of us, our Scorpio houses get more attractive, too ... and more complicated. Although the theme of whatever house is ruled by Scorpio in our natal chart is naturally complicated!
Honesty is recommended for the next few weeks because we will all be feeling our way through everyone's bullshit. Including our own.
While Venus is in Scorpio - and she will go retrograde here so this will be a LONG transit - we are charged with figuring out what we really want and why we want it. Much of this work will be done unconsciously. With Scorpio this is a lot about power and control.
Does the other person/situation make us stronger or more vulnerable?
We could be merging our resources (ruled by Venus) with other people's resources (ruled by Scorpio/Pluto) - this could take the form of relationship commitments, sex, reproduction, mortgages, financing, cooperative ventures. Things along these lines that we might not normally consider we could be attracted to now.
These attractions could easily lapse into obsessions. We could fill hours looking at expensive houses on the internet or other people on Facebook. If something begins to feel like, "we must get this NOW" we will know we might have slipped over the edge :) It will be time to ask ourselves what we are really looking for. With Venus visiting our Scorpio house the answers will be available to us if we seek them ... and maybe even if we don't.
And we want to keep in mind that Venus isn't just entering Scorpio and moving forward because she is already walking the degrees she will revisit during her upcoming retrograde in October and November. So, something about Venusian Scorpio territory - relationships, money, resources, values, attachments, intimacy, shared assets - will not be a one-and-done story. Something may start, re-appear, re-verse, or re-veal another layer later. So, pay attention to what is RE-PEATING. A conversation you've had before. A relationship situation you thought you'd put to bed. A financial situation that won't stay settled. Or maybe a question about what something - or someone - is actually worth. There can be a realization like, "hold on, we've been here before."
Mercury and Venus are both leaving signs they rule. And they are touching the future/North Node in Aquarius, as they leave home. This feels SIGNIFICANT and is fleeting, so we will pay attention.
And if you are saying to yourself, wait, WTH, how did I miss this 'know what I am doing' thing the last few weeks, I can assure you that you haven't. It's the stuff that just kind of runs on muscle memory and we don't really notice until things become a bit or a lot more complicated. If we had all the planets in the signs they rule all the time we'd never grow/get anywhere.
ACT II - THE FUTURE TURNS AROUND - Uranus stations retrograde. We stop rushing toward what comes next and begin processing what has already happened.
Also on Thursday Uranus stations retrograde. The future looks back. This is probably the most important piece of the whole week. Of course, I am an Aquarius Sun so would think that :) The stuff that has moved faster than we can process, well, the next few months is when we get to process it. Uranus doesn't necessarily say, "Surprise! Something is coming!" Although he might. Sometimes he says, "look at what has happened."
Suddenly we understand the implications. This is especially important because Uranus has been moving through Gemini where everything is sped up and doubled up anyway and where everything is happening through information, communication, ideas, technology, connections and rapidly changing mental landscapes. Whatever's felt fast, disruptive or ahead-of-schedule in recent months gets its annual processing period. What from the recent past is actually part of the future, even though we didn't recognize it when it happened? Changes could ease up or intensify depending on our natal and progressed chart's interaction with the retrograde. Uranus will be retrograde for the rest of the year.
The retrograde asks - What did we learn? What changed our mind? What information arrived that we haven't incorporated yet? What happened so quickly that our nervous system hasn't caught up with our intellect? We will be re-considering our relationship to technology and information. And we want to keep in mind that planets are immensely strong at station/change of direction and Uranus as the modern ruler of the North Node in Aquarius and with Pluto (arguably the most powerful planet) answering to him is immensely IMPORTANT.
Something can certainly change direction now and it can happen FAST. And this 'change of direction' can happen before Thursday/may have already happened since Uranus has been squatting on the same degree for a while now.
ACT III - RETURN TO EARTH - Virgo New Moon. OK, so what are we actually going to do now?
Thursday is also the day of the New Moon in Virgo. And the Moon is answering to the same Mercury who is making all those aspects and now in Libra. Virgo doesn't ask us to solve the entire future. It's the "back-to-school Moon" with perfect timing this year. At least here in New Jersey.
The Virgo New Moon is our annual opportunity to look at the machinery of ordinary life. How are we spending our time? What habits are actually supporting us and which are sabotaging us? What needs maintenance/fixing? What needs simplifying? And wth are we eating? What small change would make everything else work better? What did we do today and will we/should we do it again tomorrow? This will have its own post.
The wisdom of Virgo - the first sign of the zodiac that takes 'other people' into consideration - is that we don't integrate enormous change by understanding every possible implication. We do it by changing what we do every day.
And after the New Moon Mercury keeps going. He/she/we aren't getting a peaceful little stroll through Libra. He's moving toward a trine to Pluto and opposition to Neptune.
So, Pluto pushes us to go DEEPER and then Neptune asks what is actually real down here/under the hood/under the covers?
Mercury in Libra is trying to make sense of competing perspectives. So by the weekend, I think the questions become less about what happened and more about what it all MEANS. And maybe even something about what part of what we believe really needs to CHANGE.
And there is some kind of adjustment and vulnerability and uncomfortableness built right into the middle of the sign changes because once settled into their new signs, Mercury inconjuncts Chiron and Venus opposes him - and Chiron is sitting in Taurus, the sign of the body, the bank account, the ground under our feet. This is instability touching essentials. Not a crisis so much as a reminder that what we've called "stable" may need re-examining.
And Venus in Scorpio opposing Chiron in Taurus is almost textbook intimacy vs security. Shared resources versus personal resources. Attachment versus autonomy. What I need versus what someone else needs. And Mercury's inconjunct says that our understanding may have to adjust to accommodate something emotionally tender that doesn't fit neatly into the story we were telling ourselves. This is something like - something doesn't fit anymore, and we have to stop forcing it to.
There are really too many minor/maybe not so minor aspects to list - it might make us feel busy, restless, creative and slightly OVER-DETERMINED.
Mercury's quintile to Mars gives the mind some cleverness and ingenuity. The semi-square to Jupiter can make the mind run ahead of the facts - which becomes especially tricky as Mercury approaches Neptune. And the Sun's sesquiquadrate to Pluto adds that subtle pressure from something underneath/buried that needs to change. I have found this to be the kind of aspect that wears at something until it cracks. Again, this doesn't look like a crisis, but it is PRESSURE. There is some kind of sense here that maintaining the old arrangement is becoming increasingly difficult.
So, let's not try to figure everything out on Thursday (or maybe even anything out). Mercury and Venus touch the North Node and then both change signs and start applying to big outer planet energies. Uranus changes direction. The Sun and Moon begin a new lunar cycle. Chiron gets involved. Pluto pulls at the deeper story while Neptune complicates certainty.
We don't have to understand everything this week. We may just need to notice what has changed, what keeps repeating and what no longer fits - and then begin making small adjustments to the way we live our ordinary/daily lives.
The bigger meaning may take some time to catch up with us. Because when life gets complicated, Virgo asks a very simple question - what are you going to do differently tomorrow?
