Uranus (the planet of electricity, the future, groups, technology, hivemind, modern ruler of Aquarius) spends about five months of every year retrograde. Can you imagine the speed of life if he didn't? This year he stations retrograde on September 10th, 2026, at 5-degrees Gemini and will get all the way back to 1-degree Gemini and station direct on February 8th, 2027.
Usually, I write about Uranus retro as 'the change changes', but what his retrograde is really about (because he is connected so strongly in astrology with Prometheus and the Promethean myth of giving fire to the people) is WHAT HAPPENS AFTER WE HAVE STOLEN THE FIRE. What happens after the 'awakening'? What do we do with/about what we know and now cannot unknow?
I have learned something. I have seen something. I can no longer tell myself the old story - and now I have to decide what to do with what I know. And, of course, with Gemini, there is likely to be two stories here/more than one thing.
We have just been through a crazy-ass Eclipse season and right at the end of that, among a myriad other changes, Uranus stations retrograde and the electricity turns inward. The breakthrough, revelation, idea, realization, rebellion - whatever it is for us - has to be processed, integrated and reckoned with. Sometimes we discover that the thing we thought would liberate us has consequences we hadn't anticipated. Prometheus doesn't just steal fire. He changes humanity's relationship to the gods. And once the fire exists, there is no putting the world back into darkness.
(Trump was born with a Sun/North Node of Fate/Uranus conjunction and this has kind of been his job here, and of course, all the AI charts have strong Uranian energies)
On the same day Uranus stations retrograde at 5-degrees Gemini, Sedna will station retrograde at 2-degrees Gemini. In February when Uranus stations direct he will be EXACTLY conjunct Sedna (same degree) and she will station direct about a week later. So, they are both very strong at station now - in early September 2026 - and again in early February 2027.

Because Sedna is a trans-Neptunian object her transits are incredibly slow. She stays in the same degree for a very long time, so her retrograde periods act as a kind of persistent DEEP-SEA pressure on a specific area of our chart. She focuses on survival, deep-seated ancestral/past-life patterns, the knowledge that refusal is sacred and overcoming profound betrayal. Her retrograde periods might be asking us to examine where we have become emotionally FROZEN, harbor deep resentment or have disconnected from our own vulnerability.
Where Sedna holds/preserves, Uranus breaks. The wall that once protected us can become the wall that keeps us from moving. Uranus doesn't necessarily come along and gently persuade Sedna to reconsider. He introduces electricity into the deep. He agitates what has been frozen. He sends a shockwave through something we had assumed was settled. And because Uranus is in Gemini, the disruption may come through information, language, a conversation, a realization, technology, a sibling/cousin/local community issue, a contradiction, a message or suddenly seeing an old story from an entirely different angle.
Because once we consciously know something, we have choices (Gemini!) we didn't have before. We literally awaken them, ie the choices, into existence, too!
Because what if the thing restricting us was originally the thing that saved us? That is much deeper. People are told, “Let go of the resentment. Let go of the fear. Move on.” Sedna would have very little patience for that. Some things cannot simply be “let go.”
They have to be understood, honored and metabolized. And Uranus may provide the mechanism for doing that differently. Not forgetting what happened. Not pretending the betrayal didn't matter. But discovering that the survival strategy no longer has to be the life strategy.
This Sedna/Uranus retrograde is an opportunity to dismantle our internalized structure of what we would call - SURVIVAL MODE. Isolation, the hoarding of resources and the deep-seated paranoia - that keep us from living a deeply connected, ecologically integrated life. Sedna/Uranus can bring the frozen/forgotten pieces of the inner self (this is deep past life and ancestral work) UP FROM THE DEPTHS allowing a more resilient and compassionate self to emerge.
Sedna can represent what has been pushed down into the depths - frozen and forgotten pieces of the self, ancestral patterns, old betrayals, buried knowledge including what we know but don't want to know. Uranus brings the lightning. He can crack open what has been frozen, disrupt the stories that have kept us organized around fear and illuminate what we have been unable or unwilling to see.
This is not about shaming the survival self or demanding that it simply “let go.” It is about recognizing its intelligence while asking whether its rules still apply.
What once kept us safe may now be keeping us separate. Keep in mind we survived for a reason. Our ancestors survived for a reason. Honor the survival. Then ask whether you are still living as though the disaster is still happening!
As the buried material rises, we have an opportunity to transform these old survival strategies into something more resilient - we can become someone who can protect without isolating, discern danger without living in paranoia, have boundaries without building thick walls, hold onto what is needed but not hold onto everything that was ever needed and receive from others without believing that dependence on others is weakness.
We might have to sit with the discomfort/process old formative experiences. Much healing can come from re-connecting to nature/time in nature - remember we had asteroid Diana "I am going into the woods" EXACT on the last Eclipse. Life conspires between the last set of Eclipses and the next set in February 2027 to invite the abandoned parts of ourselves/our psyche - our fear/terror, grief, need for genuine care - to the surface to be warmed or sometimes even shocked awake like they do with electricity and heart attack patients.
So, the Promethean fire enters the deep. And what emerges does not have to be the self that survived.
It can be the self that finally has enough safety to LIVE.
Sedna - you know.
Uranus - now you have to know that you know :)
So, what do we already know that we can no longer afford to pretend we don't know? And then, what becomes possible once we stop organizing our life around not knowing it? This is a huge chapter of the story of the summer of 2026 to the winter of 2027.
The question is not whether the ice will crack. The ice will crack! The question is what emerges when it does.
