the meaning of the astrology of the New Moon in Gemini | Monday, May 30th, 2022 - decision time, revision time, starting something over again

Sooo, I wrote this post on Saturday night and .. it disappeared.

Well, maybe disappeared isn't totally accurate since it conjures up visions of magicians and rabbits. I left the post open on two browsers (?) and wrote the weekly post OVER one - don't ask me why - and, the new post ended up saved automatically, and poof, the old post, the New Moon post, was gone

No rabbit. No hat. Nada.

Which makes perfect sense with a Gemini New Moon during a Mercury retrograde, so let's try this again!

As with any Gemini New Moon we are dealing with Gemini themes - words, conversations, information, ideas, writing, two of something, choices, decisions, siblings/cousins, our local community, commerce, our tech, our transportation, teaching, early childhood education, childhood, your Gemini natal house theme. Sometimes because of its dualistic nature, Gemini can activate situations that show us how we are being two people/not integrated. Or maybe the ways we are over-valuing something we have had for a long time and undervaluing the things that change/the stuff that doesn't stick. Not everything is supposed to be something we stick with forever.

Let's unpack the chart!

On Monday, May 30th at 7:30am EDT, the Gemini Moon meets the Gemini Sun at 9 degrees, giving us this month's New Moon - our annual New Moon in Gemini.

The Moon/Sun are conjunct fixed star Aldebaran, sextile Mars and Jupiter and squaring Juno. Mercury, the ruler of this lunation, is retrograde, still at 26 Taurus on fixed star Algol, conjunct asteroid Achilles and squaring Saturn and sextiling Neptune. Mars is conjunct Jupiter. Black Moon Lilith is conjunct Ceres.

The Moon is sextile Mars and Jupiter, together in Aries. This is good for our words sparking a new conversation that TAKES OFF. For new/untested ideas/information to make a big impact. For whatever is launched at this New Moon to bring opportunities for expansion, optimism, luck. For our communications to be direct and to the point. For New Moon situations to GROW.

The Moon's square to Juno pulls in some relationship tension/problems with contracts that are maybe too loosey-goosey/lacking boundaries. So, keep this in mind with whatever is going on this week. Maybe we have 'idealized' the partner/relationship/contract and now here are some facts/information/conversations at odds with our rose-colored glasses. Whatever this is, pay attention to the 'terms of the agreement' now.

Mercury, ruler of this New Moon as ruler of Gemini is backtracking through Taurus. THIS IS MEGA-IMPORTANT BECAUSE GEMINI IS A FAST MOVING SIGN, BUT WITH A RETROGRADE RULER, RUSHING WILL NOT BE A GOOD IDEA

It's likely new beginnings will have their roots in the past. Maybe we are returning to or re-vising something we started earlier in the year. This also speaks of a 'missing message' - something we missed the first time we walked these degrees. There could be something that needs to said again, re-read, re-negotiated.

Because we get this New Moon with Mercury retrograde and then just a couple days later (June 3rd) Mercury reverses course and stations direct it could be that we start out deciding one thing and CHANGE OUR MIND. Or someone else does. Also, the day after Mercury stations direct, Saturn will station retrograde. Situations with authority can reverse course. Our obligations/responsibilities can change.

Keep in mind whatever we are hearing at the beginning of this week is subject to REVISION!

Mercury is squaring Saturn and sextiling Neptune. The square to Saturn is a delay, limit, restriction, pressure, "no", challenge with authority. To a retrograde Mercury in Taurus a Saturnian challenge might look insurmountable. This is a repeating aspect from April 24th, so something about whatever is HOLDING US UP might connect back to late April. The sextile to Neptune is a creative opportunity. The way through the Saturnian square is the Neptune sextile - let go and let God, use your intuition, listen to your dreams, take a rest, use your imagination, forgive, offer connection/compassion, listen to music, meditate, pray. What is your Pisces house theme? Head in that direction for a bit.

Now, Mercury is going to station direct on June 3rd, but he is going to take some time, from the muddy, fixed earth of Taurus, to get up to speed. It may not be until he/she gets home to Gemini on June 13th that things really get moving. This doesn't mean we sit around doing nothing until then, but this is just something to keep in mind.

The New Moon in Gemini - the next two weeks, but especially the week ahead - will push us to make decisions, maybe choose between two things. It will be important to keep in mind that things can flip around on us as we move through the week as Mercury stations direct and Saturn retrograde.

I hope something here is helpful. This is shorter than the original post, you know I think why write something in 100 words when 500 words are available, but the week ahead, which I will post in the morning, will fill in some of the blanks!

xo all

For you astro geeks, let's take a quick look at the fixed stars and asteroids.

The Moon is conjunct fixed star Aldebaran. This star is the eye of the Taurus bull. The "bull's-eye" (note ruler Mercury is on Algol, the "eye" of Medusa). This star is said to have the energy of Mars (and can look like Mars in the night sky - think of the red eye of an angry bull). It's a GIANT star, larger than our Sun. In a predictive chart or mundane chart like this one it is said to speak of "violence, victory and heroism in war” and in a personal chart it is said to show “confidence, energy, leadership qualities”.

Mercury is conjunct fixed star Algol - has been here for a few days and will be here for a few more. Algol is considered the most malevolent star in the sky as the "eye' of Medusa.

Yes, another "eye" - what does that make you think about? Needing a fresh pair of eyes? What we are up to our 'eyeballs' in? Keeping our eye on the prize? Roving eyes? Black eyes? Private eyes? An eye for an eye? Bedroom eyes? Something that's more than meets the eye? What catches our eye? Crying our eyes out? Poking our eyes out? Eyes like a hawk? Eyes in the back of our head? What am I missing?

Mercury on Algol for an extended period of time, during a station, while Mars hangs out with Jupiter is dangerous energy. Clashes of temperament. Arguments (some needed because remember the Moon is sextiling Mars and Jupiter). It's not a walk in the park this New Moon. Asteroid Achilles is also conjunct the Moon and makes me think of getting hit where it hurts/where we are VULNERABLE.
