On Saturday, October, 28th, 2023 at 4:24PM EDT, the Taurus Moon opposes the Scorpio Sun, giving us this month's Full Moon - our annual Full Moon in Taurus. Happening near/although out of sign, the Moon's nodes makes this Full Moon, a Lunar Eclipse. This is our FINAL Taurus Lunar Eclipse of this past 2.5 year cycle. We won't have another one here for 18 years.
The Moon loves Taurus (the sign of Mother Nature) and this is a "stop and smell the roses" moment. Maybe we get what we want and maybe we don't. Sometimes not getting what we want, lets us see very clearly what we already have.
The Full Moon is at 5 degrees Taurus. People with planets or points 3-7 degrees of the fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius) will feel this energy strongest, but we are all impacted. Taurus is ruled by Venus and rules our collective 2nd house of everything money can buy and everything money can't. What we have, the money we earn, our values, self-esteem, stability, security and comfort. Taurus also represents Mother Earth (I see Ceres as at LEAST co-ruler of Taurus). Taurus energy is nurturing - it brings us back to ourselves.
Since Taurus is fixed Earth, it can also speak of fear based thinking when our security is threatened (real or imagined) focusing us on all the reasons something we want to do won't work or all the reasons we can't have what we want. Taurus energy is stubborn (like the bull) or passive (like the cow).
With Taurus we either own it (whatever "it" is) or it doesn't belong to us.
Like all Full Moons, this a Sun/Moon opposition. The Sun is in deep, dark, transformative Scorpio and the Moon is in earthy, grounded Taurus. The polarity of death vs life. The stuff we own that is stuffed, hidden, merged, has strings attached, is REAL. The stuff we own that is visible, nourishing, we can hold in our hands, take to the bank, is REAL. Full Moons represent fullness, peak power, endings - that moment of our breath when our lungs are full just a second before we begin to exhale.
Oppositions are just what they sound like and often at a Full Moon we might find ourselves working with the polarity of the two energies involved the the houses they are located in our chart. With Scorpio, some transformation comes to light (Full Moons bring things to light) maybe we have to surrender, there could be a loss of control - with Taurus, we turn toward the present moment - what already exists. We might take solace in what brings us comfort - nature, food, our physical senses. Now, because this Full Moon is a Lunar Eclipse - something is OBSCURED, too. Sometimes whatever is headed one way - toward fullness/a peak/an ending MORPHS.
Let's unpack the chart.
The Moon in Taurus opposes the Sun in Libra, both at 5 degrees. The Moon is widely sandwiched between Jupiter and the North North. If you can imagine yourself making an actual sandwich, the two slices of bread are still far enough apart that the sandwich isn't quite settled - lettuce, pickles, etc - maybe things we haven't immediate access to can still be added, they can also be taken away. If a shoe is going to drop, maybe we think it has, but it actually hasn't yet, although in some ways it has because the sandwich ingredients are all on the table. We can see where this is leading. The Moon sextiles Saturn - there will be a sandwich, something physical - and squares Pluto, out of sign - so, maybe there is a loss, obstacle, corner that must be turned. We are out of mayo/the mayo is moldy/poisoned/must be tossed.
The Moon's conjunction to Jupiter - besides its exalted status in Taurus - is the Moon's best aspect. It's wide. Applying. Still in the future. Makes us hopeful/gives us faith. The greener grass/maybe the mustard that is a step-up from the mayo is OUT THERE. It's not helping us with this sandwich, but somehow it also IS. I hope this sandwich metaphor isn't making you crazy or hungry :) Moon/Jupiter can feel good/lucky. Gives us the ability to bounce back. Can make us need more than we actually need though.
The Sun in Scorpio is conjunct Mercury and Mars, again this is applying (still to come) - Mercury and Mars will meet on Sunday. Mars is EXACTLY opposing the same Jupiter the Moon is applying to. ACTIONS WILL BE BIG. Words are big, too/blustery - maybe nourished by religion/beliefs/not feeling safe.
"Them's fighting words", comes to mind. And Mars is the ancient ruler of Scorpio, strong here. We have seen in the news the way Israel is languaging what they are going to do. Using hugely destructive language/big terrifying words. Somewhere in our own lives - because this is a life vs death Full Moon Lunar Eclipse (Taurus/Scorpio) - maybe something we are thinking about/talking about has grown big and uncomfortable, too, because remember this is the pileup - the Sun, Mercury, Mars - that is opposing the Moon. Making the Taurus Moon UNCOMFORTABLE.
Tongues are sharp. Can be used as weapons. Can feel like they are coming at us. Information is dangerous/doesn't feel good.
Stay grounded. Think about what you are thinking about/what you are saying.
Remember you are in an Eclipse portal setting up your future. That sandwich isn't just a ham and cheese.
Venus, the ruler of Taurus. rules this Eclipse (she ruled the Eclipse two weeks ago also). She is moving fast now, at 18 degrees Virgo already. This is a practical Venus. She dots her i's and crosses her t's. She is trining Uranus and Pluto - in sync with the future and the past. In an EXACT sextile to Ceres in Scorpio. And EXACT aspect during an Eclipse is important. There is an opportunity here between your Virgo house and your Scorpio house. And, if we see Venus and Ceres as the co-rulers of Taurus - and know the Moon is exalted here - this is another good sign. Good for practical gain from what is buried/dead/hidden/merged.
Venus is also in an inconjunct to Chiron - separating (has already happened). Old wounds. Old pain - around our ability to take care of ourself/be ourself - is driving the boat/the reason we are making the sandwich. If a second shoe is going to drop, this connects to the first shoe.
The day after the Full Moon, Mercury and Mars will be exact in Scorpio, 11 degrees. We are walking our talk here. Words are not threats about what we are going to do, but what we are actually doing. Saturn direct this week will support this. With Mercury/Mars in Scorpio this is likely to be about stuff we don't really want to look at/talk about. Changes that come through our actions now/the space in our life where our actions meet our language/thinking - will be permanent.
This heart of this Full Moon/meat in this sandwich isn't in the howling - although, yes, there will be/has been howling.
It will be about - and play out over the next couple weeks - how we walk our talk. The measured actions we take with the information we probably don't want to look at/deal with.
This is Scorpio. The spaces we have merged with other people. Debt. Inheritance. Sex. Reproduction. And with an Eclipse, there is a sense of fate here. Events are somehow sacred. Mean more than they look like they mean. So, be measured. Precise. Can you get what you need without destroying someone/something? Maybe yes, maybe no.
Venus is in Virgo, and Virgo is about the bottom line - what is most practical?
As Mercury meets Mars, the Moon will finish up in Taurus. She opposes Mercury and Mars, trines Venus, meets Uranus and finally trines Pluto. So, once we have 'walked our talk/dealt with this stuff we don't want to deal with' THINGS GET BETTER.
That trine to Venus, pulls in the Moon's exalted status FINALLY. Comfort. Ease. The meeting with Uranus says that change is good/something we can embrace. That final trine to Pluto is empowering/ends what must end, so the bottom line of whatever this Full Moon is for us is POSITIVE.
The Moon's final closing aspect is good news for this chart/for us, but we have to deal with that opposition to Mars/Mercury. Have the uncomfortable conversation about whatever we have been holding back to keep the peace (this plays out over the next couple weeks) or maybe the conversation has been had/the information has come in and we are GOING TO HAVE TO DEAL WITH IT.
Whatever we have pushed into that closet is out
(think about the innocent Palestinian people with no where to go - what have we stuffed into a closet/turned into the boogeyman in our own life?).
Not speaking/not taking action will not work - the sandwich doesn't get made. This is Taurus. She rules food. And we have to eat.
We need to take action - deep/intense/measured. We need to deal with the discomfort to get to the comfort. Nothing is getting pushed under the rug/into a closet right now. This is what Eclipses do. This is their job..
We can't control everything, but what we can control we should.
We'll get a clearer picture in the week ahead post Sunday.
xo all
