This is a BIG week with unexpected news and shifting circumstances for many people.
One of the multiple BIG changes in 2025 is happening now, too, as Saturn changes signs, moving from the last sign to the first!
Mercury's opportunistic sextile to Saturn this week (likely connected to what we do with the unexpected news) will bring new ideas and fast-moving conversations that offer some early clues about how this shift is going to go!
Our world revolves around Saturn cycles - the furthest planet we can see with our naked eyes. He is the energy of everything that is physically real. He is all about limits and hard edges. He is father energy. Responsibility. Discipline. Structure. Hard work. He is the planet of contraction and lines that must be held. He is also the only planet whose rewards we can COUNT ON.
After a few years with a strong Saturn - his time in Cappy and Aquarius - Saturn has been in Pisces since 2023 where he has not been as strong, but where he DID have Neptune in Pisces, too (Neptune was strong in his home sign and Saturn was answering to him).
Saturn in Pisces has been tricky though. The lack of boundaries. The drifting of purpose. The weak authority. There is a reason Saturn rules both a cardinal and a fixed sign and an earth and an air sign, but not a mutable or a water sign and Pisces is mutable water.
Pisces in the LAST SIGN and Saturn in Pisces has been requiring us to come to terms with endings.
MAKE PEACE WITH OUR PAST.
Karmic chickens have come home to roost and karmic debts have come due. Because this is really old and illusive/elusive energy with thin, and even non-existent boundaries we may have become committed to things/responsible for things we didn't have to be. Taken on other people's burdens. And because, again, Pisces is mutable water and what flows in can flow right back out, we may have done the opposite and avoided certain commitments and responsibilities that we would have been better off dropping an anchor for.
Either way - the pressure of OBLIGATIONS THAT NEED TO END will end. Keep in mind, Saturn's exit of Pisces isn't permanent at this point - we will be back here in September for one final leg of this LONG good-bye until February 2026 when Saturn settles into Aries until April 12th, 2028.
As we work with Saturn, life gets easier. If we try to avoid Saturn, life gives us obstacles and set-backs and pushes us into the tight corners that will require us to grow the muscles needed to get ourselves out.
Saturn in Pisces with Neptune in Pisces has given structure to unhealthy escapist and victim constructs that will end as Saturn moves into Aries and a new era of SELF-RESPONSIBILITY begins.
On May 24th, 2025, Saturn enters Aries for a three-month sneak peek.
The planet of the old goes into the sign of the new. Saturn in Aries gives responsibility to the young. They must work hard. We are all starting at the ground floor with something. Responsibilities and a need to grow-up/take something seriously and think long-term come to a house where we are more likely to shoot from the hip. Authenticity and integrity and self-respect will matter.
We will have to face responsibilities we are not ready for.
Our self-esteem/self-worth - that we have been working on since Chiron entered Aries in 2018 are going to make or break us with Saturn in Aries. We will need to be assertive without being hasty or aggressive. Aries is naturally the sign of the collective first house. It's tricky to have Saturn here. If Saturn is in the first house of your natal chart, you would have had to grow up quickly in your first few years. The same might be true if you were born with Saturn in Aries. Seriousness would be part of your earliest life probably through whatever was going on with your parents.
Wherever our Aries house is - this has always been the space we have had to fight/work alone/compete/push for what we want if we are going to have it. This is a house where we are naturally motivated and naturally brave, but maybe not so naturally stable and committed.
With Saturn here, now there are limits and rules and responsibilities. But there is also a cosmic father. Structure. Support. Rewards for dedication/hard work. Neptune will be in Aries at the same time, so a dissolving father/structure can be part of the story, too. So can a dreamy one. But we are used to this from the last couple years with Saturn in Pisces. This is all rather unprecedented. We will have to see how this goes.
Saturn, who is exalted in Aries' polarity sign of Libra, is considered 'in his fall' in Aries.
It's like we have the general answering to the soldier. You can see the way this can get us into all kinds of hasty trouble, but also the way fresh energy/ideas/input can come into stagnant situations.
Men born with Saturn in Aries often have to grow-up early, sometimes through the loss of their own fathers. They might become fathers 'late' or reluctantly and then surprise themselves by becoming very good ones. This kind of situation will be in play for some aspect in all our lives now.
With Saturn (and Neptune) in Aries - Mars is going to be uber-important.
Much will be on the shoulders of our young masculine energy. THE BOY MUST BE THE MAN. AND, IN SOME WAYS, THE MAN MUST BE THE BOY. We will have to pay more attention to what Mars is doing. As Saturn enters Aries, Mars is strong at 17 degrees Leo and trining Venus in Aries. Mars is answering to the Sun in Gemini and Mercury (ruler of Gemini) is still in Taurus, so answering to Venus and then with Venus in Aries, she answers to Mars. If Saturn moved into Aries AFTER Mercury gets into Gemini, which happens the same day, ultimately, he would be answering to Mercury, BUT Saturn makes his move with Mercury still in Taurus, so we come back to Mars. Back to ourselves. Symbolism matters.
If we have planets in Aries - Saturn will meet up with them at some point over the next couple years. If that meeting is part of his retrograde, this might happen three times. Our planets in Aries are used to just kind of jumping in and going for it. Saturn comes in here to GROW THEM UP via limits, reality checks, patience and hard work. Karma happens. Sometimes endings.
If we have planets in Libra - Saturn will oppose those planets. Limits, reality checks, hard work, situations with authority figures are designed to grow these planets up. Work to keep this area of life BALANCED. Imbalances, maybe especially within relationships and with women can be especially challenging as karmic chickens come home to roost. If we have planets in Cancer or Capricorn - Saturn will square those planets bringing tension/frustration/the need to CHANGE/MOVE. You will be pushed and motivated to make choices and face responsibilities.
If we have planets in Leo and Sagittarius - Saturn will make a smooth fire trine/brakes off. It will be easier to keep going what is going with these energies. This is an almost effortless Saturn (there is surely no such thing as a totally effortless Saturn) - security, dependability, stability. You get SUPPORT. A life preserver is tossed from your Aries house. Take it.
Let's take a look by sign - use your rising and your Sun. Feel around, see what fits. Keep in mind, right now we are looking at a THREE-MONTH PREVIEW of a three-year transit. So, we will have this energetic shift for three months - which some people will feel more strongly than others - and then Saturn will backtrack, and we will go back over what has transpired in these three months AND back into Pisces for that 'better ending'. Then in February 2026 Saturn will return to Aries until April 2028.
ARIES Rising - Aries 1st house - Saturn in your first house is about YOU taking the lead Aries. Reality checks, new responsibilities, new obligations. If you are overly reliant on a partner Saturn will bring that reliance back on yourself. You are patiently building integrity and self-respect (we all are). Starts may be slower than what you are used to as a fire sign, but what is built will be stronger and longer lasting. Maturity will be a theme, as will patience. Keep in mind, Saturn is the great cosmic teacher, and life will conspire to teach you what you need to learn here. Saturn pulls in karma, old fears and pressure and this is a physical house, so you will want to prioritize your health/take the responsibility of care for your physical body (maybe especially your head) seriously. As Saturn exits your 12th house (now and more fully in February 2026) very old - past life/ancestral - obligations and contracts are closing out.
TAURUS Rising - Aries 12th house - Saturn in your 12th house is a bit like a Saturn in Pisces transit - making peace with the past, becoming more mature and self-reliant through good-byes. You never know what you are going to get with the 12th house because you are dealing with very old/ancestral karma (what is behind us, what we can't see from our perch in the 1st house), but with Aries as your natal 12th house you have past-life/ancestral ties to Aries energy - masculine, young men, war, impulsivity, etc. - and Saturn here will conspire through circumstances (that might seem unconnected or illusive) to wrap up this unfinished business over the next three years. Make the time to be alone. Make the time to meditate. Make time for music/art. Saturn's exit from your 11th house (now and more fully in February 2026) will end or brings results/earned rewards through certain obligations to friends, groups and causes.
GEMINI Rising - Aries 11th house - Saturn in your 11th house is about reality checks and new responsibilities and obligations within groups, friendships and collective causes. Here is where you will be required to grow up/step into your authority and bring your expertise. Networking will be very important. New rules/limits/boundaries might require you to end certain affiliations and friendships (maybe just because you no longer have time for them). New friendships and alliances will form slowly and can be long lasting. Keep in mind, Saturn is the great cosmic teacher, and life will conspire to teach you what you need to learn about friendships and groups and help unwind any unfinished business/karma you carry here. As Saturn exits your 10th house of career, public life and reputation (now and more fully in February 2026) certain career responsibilities and obligations/pressure will be wrapping up via results/earned rewards and endings.
CANCER Rising - Aries 10th house - Saturn in your 10th house will bring career and public life obligations, authority, reality checks and responsibilities. Careers can peak or end over the next three years. You will be publicly held to a higher standard and face challenges/opportunities to earn respect and greater authority as you step up to the plate. Your reputation will be very important. Rewards for past work will come in now. Saturn will not be back here for almost 30 years, so make this a time well spent. Keep in mind, Saturn is the great cosmic teacher, and life will conspire to teach you what you need to learn. As Saturn exits your 9th house (now and through February 2026) certain big-picture beliefs, legal situations, publishing/media, religious, foreign situations can peak/wrap up bringing results, rewards that have been earned and endings.
LEO Rising - Aries 9th house - Saturn coming into your 9th house of your big-picture beliefs, travel, higher education, foreign people/places, religion, legal issues, publishing, weddings, the media - says it is time to take this stuff seriously. Your beliefs will be tested, so don't allow them to become too fixed too fast. Sober and dedicated efforts made in any of these directions will pay off over time. A half-assed attempt at anything here will land you on it. For your sake I hope it's bouncy. The best news for you may be that Saturn is 'exiting stage left' your 8th house of other people's resources/money, debts, loans, taxes, sex, intimacy, reproduction, so situations dealing with these issues will start to ease up and rewards will come in for your hard work over the last three years within these areas.
VIRGO Rising - Aries 8th house - Saturn in your 8th house of intimacy/other people's money and resources (what is merged) and what has been stuffed/buried/death brings reality checks, limits, obligations and responsibilities through sexual/intimacy situations, reproduction (matters can be taken seriously), taxes, insurance, inheritances, spouse's resources/income, what is owed, loans, mortgages. What us yours? What is theirs? Saturn brings sobriety to issues here and requires you take this stuff seriously. Skeletons can come dancing out of closets and elephants from behind coffee tables. It can be a good transit for deep psychological work, occult work, conspiracy theorizing. Death will have to be confronted in some way - this doesn't have to mean an actual death of someone, although it might - an authority figure, for example, could be possible. More likely, this would be more about acknowledging the 'passage of time' and what you do with this knowledge to 'shape up' your own life. Saturn is the planet of endings, and the 8th house is the house of endings so it is likely his transit here, which you will have two or three (if you are lucky) times in your life is designed for you to grow up/mature through loss/endings. Remember if you are a Virgo rising you have always had Aries ruling your 8th house, this isn't anything new. You may have always played things fast and loose here and not given the very important topics of this house too much thought. Now dad/authority comes into this 'buried' house. This wouldn't be the time to cheat on your taxes, for example. As Saturn exits your 7th house - relationships, contracts and commitments can bring results, rewards for hard work or an ending now (and through February 2026).
LIBRA Rising - Aries 7th house - Saturn in your 7th house of partnerships and balance can bring new limits, obligations and responsibilities with another person. This could be a transit when you learn and work on what you do when you are confronted with the needs of others. Some obligations and responsibilities may pass to a partner, or a partner may become more self-sufficient. Some partnerships may end, and some partners will face serious tests. This is an important angular house and what you do in relation to other people over the next three years will impact all aspects of your life. As Saturn exits your 6th house - your daily work, habits, health, pet - situations can become easier. Results and rewards for hard work in these areas will come in as will endings (now and more fully in February 2026).
SCORPIO Rising - Aries 6th house - Saturn in your 6th house of your daily habits, daily obligations, health, work, pets can bring new limits, obligations and responsibilities. It will be time to take this stuff seriously. Mars is your ancient ruler, so Saturn answering to Mars should feel comfortable for you. Take care of your health. Take care of your daily obligations. Stick to a schedule. If you have let this stuff go, well Saturn will bring in reality checks and wake-up calls. Tend to medical issues as they crop up, Saturn can come in here via an expert to help. Saturn will test your commitment to living a responsible life. Saturn is all about cycles and things paying off over time. Trust this. Do your best but know you will also need to rest and rejuvenate to avoid burnout. This is Virgo's natural house so being of service to others, taking care of the small things, doing things one step at a time will help and fixing what needs fixing will bring stability and rewards over time. As Saturn exits your 5th house (now and more fully in February 2026) your creative projects, romances, children and relationship to play will show results, bear the fruit of hard work and bring fated endings.
SAGITTARIUS Rising - Aries 5th house - if you have been having too more fun, Saturn in your 5th house is going to rain on your parade a bit Sag, BUT he will also bring a serious commitment to your children, creative work and how well you are taking care of what you came here to do, ie living your Sun. Romance can get serious or involve someone older or more serious. Romances that are going nowhere will end over the next three years. Children can grow up/become more responsible. They can also bring greater challenges. Your creative projects, if taken seriously, will pay off over time. Confidence and courage will come through patience and hard work and facing up to difficult situations. Recreation/play time will take on a greater importance, but circumstances can conspire to bring in limits. Roll with it. As Saturn exits your 4th house of home, family, mother, roots - you can breathe a sigh of relief right now and probably more fully in February 2026 - reality checks and hard times here will ease up. Results and rewards for your hard work in these areas will show up as will fated endings.
CAPRICORN Rising - Aries 4th house - Saturn in your 4th house will bring in karmic responsibilities and obligations related to home, family, mother, home business, family business, your roots. It will be time to take this stuff seriously. You might find yourself returning home to care for a parent or bringing a house or home business back to its roots. This is an important angular house, and Saturn here will bring changes to all areas of your life. The cracks in your foundation will be mended over the next three years or the whole place will be torn down. It is not easy to be a Cappy rising and have a martial Aries house of roots - your earliest life could have been a battlefield, very masculine or just very active, but whatever has happened this has allowed you to build self-reliance and self-motivation. Ancestral karma can be wrapped up, over time, through hard work and responsibility - with your parents, your home or through a surrogate parental figure. In the end your roots are being made more stable, your new foundation will be long-lasting. As Saturn exits your 3rd house of local community, communication, commerce, transportation and siblings - results and earned rewards can come in through these areas as well as fated endings (now and probably more fully in February 2026).
AQUARIUS Rising - Aries 3rd house - Saturn in your 3rd house will require you to walk your talk Aquarius. Responsibilities and obligations related to how you use your Mercurian energies will be paramount - your words, ideas, commerce, transportation, sibling situations, writing, local community issues all with require sobriety/to be taken seriously/for you to apply your expertise. You will lead by speaking up, saying "no", enforcing limits, talking like a grown-up, etc. Know that Saturn is a teacher and this will be a process whose rewards will come over time and through hard work. Saturn pulls in karma, old fears and pressure so this 'speaking up, using your grown-up voice' thing will likely not come so easily, but over time will gain you respect and recognition and stability. Saturn will slow down your thinking/your words and make them count. The karmic story of your childhood/early education years can get a reset/restructuring as contracts and storylines end. As Saturn exits your 2nd house of your money and resources and if you have been responsible here, restrictions can improve. Purse strings can loosen. Karmic obligations and responsibilities and old monetary contracts around what you own and what you value can end now and as Saturn leaves Pisces entirely in February 2026.
PISCES Rising - Aries 2nd house - Saturn into your 2nd house means it is time to get serious about your money and resources Pisces. Start a budget. Do it now. Your values and the ways you spend money will become more responsible. Belts will be tightened. Sober investments and what grows over time can pay off. Short term losses or large expenses are possible. Lessons show up in order for you to learn what is truly valuable. Do not cut corners. Only lend money if you can afford to lose it. It is likely not the best time to get the most bang for your buck by selling a house, etc, but it is a good time to take stock of what you have/need and get rid of what you don't. What is happening right now, this week, with your money Pisces? Serious conversations should be happening to get you off to the best start with this transit. As Saturn exits your 1st house of yourself, now and more fully in February 2026, results and rewards for the hard work you have done on yourself over the last three years can show up, as well as karmic endings for obligations and responsibilities you no longer need to carry. Continue to take your health seriously Pisces because your ruling planet Neptune will be journeying with Saturn for the next few months.
OK, I hope something here is helpful.
Most astrologers are not loving the idea of Saturn in Aries due to his debilitated state, BUT we will have him out of drifting Pisces and he will be making a sextile to powerful Pluto and his proximity to Neptune at the start of this thing can take the edge off things/kind of ease us into it. And Uranus is going to sextile Saturn once he gets into Gemini in July. AND Saturn can tamp down the Arian energy, bring age and experience to new things. 2025 is a total gamechanger, so it's all anyone's guess. There are certainly things going right - including Jupiter's upcoming transit of Cancer, where he will be exalted. Yes, Saturn will temper/tamp down this with a square from Aries, but things are moving so fast right now - and even faster once Uranus gets into Gemini - this 'tempering/tamping thing' doesn't seem like a bad thing either.
