the astrology of the New Moon in Gemini | May 26th, 2025 - seeing double, making choices and decisions, empowerment through communications, deals, important information, great new moon that speaks of making a commitment to our dreams

I had family over for the Memorial Day parade today, so am late with the weekly, but wanted to pop up the New Moon tonight!

On May 26th, 2025, at 11:02PM EDT the Gemini Moon catches up with the Gemini Sun at 6 degrees giving us this month's New Moon - our annual New Moon in curious/busy/restless "two is always better than one" GEMINI.

The New Moon in Gemini puts the focus on our communication, thinking, ideas, on what we are learning and what we are teaching, on our siblings, our tech/transportation and our local community. The sign of the twins and duality - we might be seeing double or doing two things at once with this one.

This Moon in Gemini has already sextiled Saturn (freshly minted in Aries), met up with ruler Mercury (freshly minted in Gemini), sextiled Neptune, trined Pluto and now meets the Sun. The Moon will then sextile Mars in Leo, sextile Venus in Aries and finally go void in a couple days off a meeting with beneficial Jupiter.

This New Moon looks pretty good!

We really want to take advantage of the next two weeks to GET SOMETHING STARTED. If you do not always write down your New Moon intentions - you should really do it with this Moon. She rules writing, has her ruler nearby and is making nice with, well, pretty much everyone.

New Moons are times when we are literally in the dark. The Moon and Sun are together at the same degree. Then time moves on, the Moon becomes visible, a little more visible everyday. This is called waxing and is the two weeks of the month when things are naturally growing.

Ruled by Mercury and ruler of our 3rd house, Gemini rules our growth through the exchange of information, through contact with our immediate environment, through language. Gemini reigns over: the flow of information, technology, communication, our mental processes, conversations, stories, our local community, our neighbors, our siblings, our transportation. This is all the stuff getting a do-over now and for the next 30 days and the 6 months through the Gemini Full Moon next winter.

Gemini is the first AIR sign of the astrological year - a sign of the mind, the archetype of the "teacher" - the storyteller. If you are a Gemini Sun sign this is basically the way you process life. As soon as you learn something, and you are naturally curious and learn alot of "somethings" - you simply must pass it on. Gemini has more to do with questions than answers. She has been mentally exploring and noticing stuff her entire life.

Gemini is perspective. What we notice becomes what we think about, what we talk about, what we act on. What we notice becomes who we are. It's a good time to notice what we are noticing. Of course, we would probably have to stop for a moment to do this and we won't be able to - because we will be so busy!

Geminis are actually supposed to know a hell of a lot of stuff that they may never have a need to know (unless they make it into the final rounds of Jeopardy) - this is the sign of curiosity.

Let's unpack the chart!

The Moon meets the Sun at 6 degrees. The Moon is sextiling Neptune and trining Pluto (separating) and conjunct ruler Mercury. Mercury, the ruler of this lunation is sextiling Saturn and Neptune (separating) and trining Pluto (applying).

It looks like some of this New Moon story has ALREADY HAPPENED/is behind us.

Maybe we have taken some kind of action with a "dream", maybe even had an opportunity and there is something here with a Gemini flavor so we are either doing something we have done before, doing two different things/seeing double or there is a Mercurian theme to what we are doing. Mercury's sextile to Neptune speaks of using our intuition, our creativity and compassion.

With Saturn conjunct Neptune in Aries - we want to be thoughtful and RESPONSIBLE with the new things that show up.  AND we might have to, at times, take some kind of quick action to create an opportunity with them when they do show up. KEEP THIS IN MIND

The trine to Pluto brings empowerment/confidence and speaks of COMMITMENT. The solving of mysteries. Situations involving financing, merged money and resources, taxes, insurance, intimacy, reproduction, power, transformation, loss, death are intense and REGENERATIVE. There is a 'before and after' quality with something here. Maybe a secret came/comes out. Maybe something buried is dug up. With ruler Mercury making the same aspects and Gemini being a repeating sign anyway, again there is some kind of duplicating or repeating energy here, too. Maybe two stories. Choices. Decisions. Something we have done before, etc. Pluto is retrograde, so there is an old story of merged money, power, intimacy playing out here.

Asteroid Icarus sits between Mercury and the New Moon providing a warning about flying too close to the Sun/too high. Saturn/Neptune should keep things sensible as we take some action to 'make the dream real'. Icarus is certainly not a stop sign but keep in mind there could be something ahead we are not quite prepared for.

Mercury is going to catch up with the Sun this week and then will go on to sextile Mars and Venus and meet Jupiter over the next two weeks. The Sun never does catch up with Jupiter in Gemini - which is kind of repeating Icarus's warning about flying too high or taking on too much. With Jupiter in his detriment in Gemini - just doing too many things at once to be totally effective - maybe this is a good thing. The Sun will catch up with Jupiter in June though. They meet at the end of the month in Cancer where Jupiter is exalted while making a nice sextile to Mars as Mercury sextiles Uranus and trines Saturn, and as Venus, exalted in Taurus by then, sextiles the North Node. This will be around the next New Moon in Cancer - which is another goodie!

I will try to get the weekly up tomorrow and then start on June. That will flesh this all out a bit more.

In the meantime, set your New Moon intentions for this one!

GEMINI NEW MOON AFFIRMATIONS

This is a great time for affirmations for Gemini themes - your natal Gemini house theme, your natal third house theme, movement, flexibility, wit, communication, writing, storytelling, logic, social graces and ease, siblings, local community issues, your tech, your transportation, teaching/learning, mental anxiety, areas of life where you are seeing double or doing two things at once or doing something again, your nervous system, hands, wrists, arms, shoulders and your lungs.

AFFIRMATION TIPS: get into a good frame of mind - always make affirmations from a positive place (meaning both happy and certain) - write your affirmations down by hand in script, SPEAK THEM OUT LOUD - then release your attention from them knowing that your intention is known.

Know what you seek is seeking you (Rumi).

Know these things are already yours.
