Lots of aspects this week and big shifts as two personal planets change signs.
Let's dive right in and unpack it!
TUESDAY - Sun sextiles Chiron, Mars enters Virgo
WEDNESDAY - Jupiter squares Neptune, Third Quarter Moon Pisces
THURSDAY - Mars inconjunct Saturn
FRIDAY - Mars inconjunct Neptune, Sun enters Cancer, Summer Solstice
SATURDAY - Mercury trines the North Node
SUNDAY - Mars sextiles Jupiter, Sun squares Saturn, Venus semi-squares Neptune and Saturn
MONDAY - the Moon in Aquarius is going to activate last week's Mars/Uranus square, by squaring Uranus and opposing Mars. Disruptions. Expect the unexpected. A disagreement can come out of nowhere. We could feel restless and need time alone. The Moon goes void at 1:31PM EST off that Mars opposition then moves into Pisces and starts applying to a nice trine to Jupiter which perfects in the evening. Things get better/easier as the day goes on. The problems don't seem as bad. Let things go. Chill out.
TUESDAY - the Moon in Pisces is making some nice aspects and the Sun reaches 26 degrees Gemini and sextiles Chiron in Aries. This is good energy to solve problems rather than dwell on them. Ask light-hearted questions. Conversations, information, siblings, our local community, being out and about - can be HEALING. This won't be about some deep probing conversation. This is about KEEPING IT LIGHT. Humor helps. In Gemini, maybe this is an acknowledgement that there are two sides to a situation. Keep an open mind.
MARS ENTERS VIRGO.
After bringing the war (and the king) home - which we've talked about in a series of posts HERE and I will have the final post up this week - Mars finally gets his feet onto some dry land. This change of sign for Mars is also going to impact our Aries planets - Saturn, Neptune and Chiron, who are answering to him.
Virgo makes things precise, smaller, down-to-earth, there is a focus on HEALTH and quality. What action is the most helpful/healthful? Do some of that. Some good things about Mars in Virgo is our ability to organize, to be productive, to focus on the details and what needs doing right now - the next step. Since Virgo is a service sign, the actions we take that help us will most naturally help other people. Mars in Virgo can really clean up the mess and improve the situation. The wheat is separated from the chaff - yes maybe rather ruthlessly sometimes because this is Mars we are talking about. But in the end, we are left with the wheat or whatever it is we need to grow the wheat. Either way the superfluous bullsh*t/ the ego is gone.
Mars in Virgo can be excellent for productivity, and it can also run entirely off course with perfectionism, so keep in mind if we let fiery Mars get out of control in pious Virgo territory, we could have a bigger mess on our hands even though everything looks all clean and sparkly. Mars can get very pissed off here if everything doesn't meet his exacting standards of perfection. So, let's not go there. We could find ourselves taking action toward some quite impossible something or other. If everything has to fall precisely into place for something to work out - well, Mars in Virgo is the man for the job - on the other hand he doesn't see the big picture, just the details right in front of him, and can toil rather tirelessly with not much to show in the end. This can still be OK in the short term - we grow the muscles/get the experience, etc, but just understand this going in. If we find ourselves, or someone else, demanding an impossible to meet goal or impossibly high standards of perfection we will know we have veered off course here. Mars has run amok.
Mostly Mars in Virgo is an excellent transit for reality-based progress and feeling the satisfaction and reaping the rewards of a job well done. Much will have to do with our natal relationship with Mars. For some people Virgo topics can become a source of anger - you don't want to do the work/help someone/keep track of the details/stop eating the cookies, etc. Keep in mind - Mars in Virgo is going to inconjunct the Aries planets very quickly. So, we will likely be making adjustments to Saturn - the rules, limits, authority, and to Neptune - idealism, confusion, escapism, the dream, before any real progress gets made.
Mars will be in Virgo until August 6th.
WEDNESDAY - Jupiter reaches his square to Neptune and we have the Moon's final square to the Sun (closing square) before next week's New Moon. The Sun in Gemini wants the facts. To be clear. To work with what is logical. The Pisces Moon comes in and brings CONFUSION. Now we aren't so sure. Maybe new info emerges. Maybe we are just overwhelmed. Squares create tension and frustration. This can be a good time to question our decisions and choices. Then the Moon goes void off a sextile to Uranus - changes are opportunistic. Do something different. By Wednesday night, EST, our emotions shift as the Moon moves into Aries and catches up with Saturn and Neptune and squares Jupiter.
The background to all the lunar stuff is the Jupiter/Neptune square perfecting today. This can be over-the-top, create confusion and BLUR BOUNDARIES. Take care to avoid catching colds, etc. This is a time when we can take something too far because the consequences do not feel real. Something could sound too good to be true and end up being DISAPPOINTING. This can be very creative energy though, and we might be inspired to make something, or, on the other hand because Neptune can be dissolving, be totally unmotivated, even exhausted.
Avoid over-promising, falling into a delusion or fantasy. Avoid addictions. NOTICE the reality check at the end of the week when Saturn squares the Sun.
THURSDAY - Mars and Saturn reach an impasse, so we do, too. This is Virgo and Aries. Mutable earth and cardinal fire don't have much in common. Aries is 8 houses from Virgo, so the Aries/Virgo inconjunct can feel more intense, like life and death to Virgo. Aries impulsive nature doesn't look like anything good or safe to Virgo. Virgo is 6 houses from Aries (and why Aries people need structured days and health routines), so Virgo just looks to Aries like WORK. Saturn in Mars' sign will certainly help, but this is a 'rock and a hard place' aspect. Our actions hit a wall/limit, are blocked by rules AND our attempts to follow the rules/apply discipline are met by impulsivity. An aggravating stop and start. We need some give and take and to just accept things won't be perfect and that's ok. The good news is the Moon in Aries is sextiling Pluto, so our actions are empowering even with the fits and starts. Keep going.
FRIDAY - Now Mars is doing the same dance with Neptune we talked about yesterday except instead of Saturn applying the brakes and rules, we have Neptune loosening everything up. Can we color within the lines when the lines are removed? If we color with no lines, do we still have a picture? We are charged with figuring something like this out now. Same -give and take' applies. Things won't be perfect. And, yes, this could have been part of yesterday's inconjunct with Saturn and we just gave up and took a nap.
The Sun enters Cancer bringing us to the Summer Solstice.
We are alive. Life is changing for all of us!
Cancer is all about family and home and history and patriotism and security - about having our needs met and meeting the needs of others we are close to. Family interactions will be sentimental. What we need and what other people need will be colored by our memories of how things used to be (or how we wished they had been). Comfort comes from people and situations that are familiar. The Sun will shine a light on these areas as well as light up our natal Cancer house. AND JUPITER IS HERE, TOO and will meet up with the Sun next week (on Israel's chart ruling Venus, Prince William's Moon - mine, too - and activate the 3-5 degree placements in many charts).
Cancer is ruled by the Moon. Her emotional nature comes from the fact she changes signs every couple days - contrast that with the Sun who moves through one sign a month or Neptune who sits in the same sign for fifteen years. Can you imagine if the celestial body ruling our emotions stayed in the same place for fifteen years?
We wouldn't be moody anymore and certainly some people would be lucky enough to be smiling for over a decade, but we could be stuck in a bad mood through three presidents and two car loans. That's a whole lot of lemons, folks!
Looked at this way - the moody, changeable Moon is our friend!
Feel whatever you need to feel now. Solstice means standstill - so stand still. Get near water. Watch the sun rise. Clean your house. Light a candle in the sunshine. Do that 'balance an egg' thing. And then let's be as gentle with ourselves as we are with that egg.
Remember our DNA carries the energy of our ancestors who celebrated the Solstice for centuries all over the planet. This is powerful stuff.
SATURDAY - Mercury trines the North Node. This is a message ABOUT THE FUTURE. About our best direction forward. With Mercury making a sextile to the South Node - a solution can come in now. A fix. Something that is helpful or healthful. This is a water trine and Mercury is in Cancer, so this might come through our intuition or through what is not said. OUR ATTENTION IS DRAWN TO WHAT LIES AHEAD, so pay attention. Something is slipping right into place. Notice the language you are using - you want to be talking and thinking and writing about what you do want instead of what you don't. The Moon is exalted in Taurus now and making some nice, comfortable aspects. Enjoy this day. Luna will square Pluto at some point, so there could be a power struggle or some intensity, but mostly this looks like a nice Saturday.
SUNDAY - Lots going on today, so I imagine we will be active. The Moon is uber comfortable in Taurus making nice with EVERYONE. This will help. The Sun squares Saturn for a reality check (if something delusional was going on mid-week the end of the week is when that bubble can burst) - maybe around home or family obligations. Maybe around real estate. Maybe around our security. Mercury's sextile to Jupiter speaks of an opportunity here somewhere, so maybe the Sun/Saturn is helping keep our feet on the ground with it. Speak up. Have confidence. Listen. Get outside your comfort zone a bit. Venus is making little semi-squares to Saturn and Neptune, making this a good time to watch our wallets and keep track of what we value. Sunday is a bit of everything and all over the place.
OK, I will be back to finish up the Mars retrograde series.
Mind blowing to me that Mars retrograde in Cancer/Leo which I had been calling ' the war comes home, and the king comes home' last autumn - culminates with a Mars/Uranus square bringing 'No Kings' protests and troops in the street. Life is crazy. Post on that next.
xo all
