weekly astrology forecast | june 23rd to 29th, 2025 - the need to let go of fear, painful words, powerful and lucky new moon and maybe a major ending

I have to ignore the elephant in the room to get this post up tonight!

Astrologically speaking our current situation is brought to us courtesy of Mars conjunct Regulus (fixed star, king, kingmaker, nature of Mars and Jupiter) squaring Uranus on Algol (malevolent fixed star, third eye of Medusa, losing our heads) and activating the charts of all the major players and, of course, the collective karma of all of us alive on planet Earth, maybe even ever alive on planet Earth.

(Trump gets to play both sides of this thing, literally and metaphorically with his Mars/Ascendent/Regulus and his Uranus/Sun/North Node with Algol on his midheaven, Israel has a tight Sun/Algol and a tight Mars/Regulus, Iran has a tight Ascendent/Algol, Netanyahu has a tight Mars/Regulus and I was surprised to not find a prominent Algol in Netanyahu's chart, but then I looked at his wife's chart - whoa - a stellium in Aries, first house answering to her Mars in the 7th house (partners) tightly conjunct Algol, so Netanyahu is playing both sides, too)

We'll talk about all this in the New Moon post next or its own post!

Right now, we are getting a PREVIEW of 2026 because remember the planets still have to station retrograde and then we get back where we are now next year. Uranus hasn't even moved into Gemini yet!

Pluto is in Aquarius and by next year the North Node (way forward) will be in Aquarius, too. As if everything else isn't enough, we have a tech TSUNAMI coming. If we are not EMBODIED, if we are not connected to God/Goddess, SOMETHING bigger than ourselves it is going to be very easy to be lost/to have our lives written for us in disappearing ink by algorithms.

This is already happening. Everything that is happening is already happening.

Remember with Pluto (death and fear of death) in Aquarius (the people) - it is easy for us to be afraid/to have our fears magnified. We need to continue to live our lives. Love our lives because they are what we have at this turn of the wheel. They are perfectly perfect for us this go round. Our ancestors woke every morning not knowing if their children would live through the day and they still had to kill the bison and wash their pants.

I took my 8-year-old nephew to the movies today. It was a special showing of How to Train Your Dragon - which is all about the one boy Viking who can't kill a dragon and so befriends the dragon and how that changes everything. The showing was for people with autism. In line for popcorn there was a woman in front of me who couldn't have been any taller than five feet. She was trying to wrangle her son who was at least a foot taller than her into the popcorn line. Finally, she gave up. I bought an extra popcorn for them but then couldn't find them in the theater. My nephew then proceeded to eat too much popcorn and get sick :) BUT the point I am digressing from is that this woman cannot be worried about what Trump is doing because she is just getting through her day. This day. Her day is enough.

It's summer. We never know for sure how many we will get. Let's take a breath and count our blessings. We have to take care of ourselves and our nervous systems. We have to unplug. And we have to plug in and pay attention. The North Node is in Pisces and maybe instead of meditation we should try some prayer. Play that Billy Joel song about how "we didn't start the fire" on repeat. That helps me sometimes. And I know no one needs me to say this, but I do like to talk ...

Let's dig into the week and then we'll take a look at that elephant.

MONDAY - Sun square Neptune

TUESDAY - Mercury square Chiron, Sun Conjunct Jupiter

WEDNESDAY - NEW MOON IN CANCER with two Yods/Fingers of God!

THURSDAY - Venus trine South Node, Mercury into Leo

FRIDAY - Mercury trine Saturn and Neptune

SATURDAY - Mercury opposite Pluto

Let's see what we have!

On MONDAY - the Sun in Cancer squares Neptune. The Sun is coming off this weekend's square to Saturn - a reality check/need to GROW UP. Face the kind of tension, frustration, even CRISIS that builds muscles, guard-rails, MATURITY. Now Saturn squares Neptune - maybe we are undermined by confusion or idealization. Again, this is tension/frustration. This could be a time when we are LETTING GO. Maybe of our ideas about home, family, country, authority. Maybe of our need to control the uncontrollable. Maybe of the kind of historical fear that old man Saturn can wake up deep in our bones.

Sun/Neptune can indicate SELF-SABOTAGE. We call in sick (or get sick through thin boundaries). We give up. We take that drink we know we shouldn't. We lie. We believe a lie. We are LEAKY. Our ego is UNDERMINED. At the same time Mars is making an awkward inconjunct to Pluto. This is Virgo/Aquarius. There is no common ground here. If we are feeling like we MUST help/fix/make something perfect, we will meet this aspect at its most intense. Manipulation. Obsession. Power struggles. This day looks challenging, BUT the Moon is VOID ALL DAY. Lighten up. Not much will come of today's machinations and what does is out of your hands, so don't make yourself nuts.

On TUESDAY - Mercury in Cancer squares Chiron and the Moon is in sensitive Cancer, too, and making no aspects. We will be feeling what people are saying and their words will be impacting us emotionally, too. Family, nurturing, security, country situations trigger very OLD WOUNDS. This is also the day the Sun catches up with Jupiter in Cancer. The Sun never met Jupiter in Gemini, so we have not had this merging since Taurus. We will talk about this one in the NEW MOON POST NEXT. Some astrologers see Sun/Jupiter as "good luck", even the "best day of the year" while others see Jupiter as blown out (even in his exalted state in Cancer) and weakened/out of luck. Experience tells me it is both. The deeper we go, the more two things can be true at the same time. We will talk about this in the New Moon post.

WEDNESDAY - the New Moon in Cancer conjunct Jupiter - with those separating squares to Saturn and Neptune, so what have we learned? The Moon rules Cancer, so this is ALWAYS a powerful New Moon and this year Luna is conjunct benevolent Jupiter. This is especially good news IF we do not sabotage ourselves (those squares!) through fear, not expressing ourselves, not taking the center stage of our own life, letting obligations and commitments scare us away from acting, and/or escaping, idealizing, etc.

THIS WILL HAVE ITS OWN POST, and we will talk politics in that one.

THURSDAY - Venus, strong in her home sign of Taurus, trines the Virgo South Node and sextiles the North Node. This is good energy to make the most of old work, health and daily habits that are working for us. A fix falls into place. Mercury exits his home sign of Gemini for fiery Leo where he/she will station retrograde on July 18th (another time period with BIG energy) at 15 degrees Leo. As soon as Mercury gets into Leo he will be applying to his opposition to Pluto on SATURDAY, so it's in play starting now. When Mercury changes signs, the CONVERSATION CHANGES.

FRIDAY - Before Mercury opposes Pluto, he/she trines the Saturn/Neptune energy. Remember Mercury is in Leo, so EFFECTIVE words are bold, brave, coming from the heart, coming from the king. Be creative. Be generous. We were just dealing with tense aspects from Mercury to Saturn and Neptune and now we have the smooth trines. The key to getting the trines is to roar like a lion. Just keep in mind Pluto is coming. Don't be an idiot. Words/information will move something forward easily.

SATURDAY - Anytime we have a Pluto opposition I get a little nervous. Egoic conversations/information can cause power struggles. Words can be intense. Compulsive. Manipulative. Important TRUTH BOMBS can be tossed.

Oppositions can bring endings, so maybe something Mercurian gets sorted out now. Final words are spoken. Oppositions can also expose our projections, so, for example, if we think someone is trying to manipulate us, and maybe they are, but we need to look at our own motivations/words/actions, too, because the source of the situation is generated from within us. If we get real with ourselves, we can usually see how we are trying to control them/the situation, too.

Conversations can be complicated. We could be talking/thinking about death or other Scorpion subject matters - taxes, inheritances, wills, reproduction, intimacy, sex, other people's money, shared finances, investments, third party situations, plutonian/nuclear situations. We could be shown an area where we have grown bitter/decayed.

People might be talking over each other/feeling unheard. Since this is a FAST collective transit and Mercury is going to TURN AROUND in a couple weeks but will never quite return to this exact opposition - let's give each other a break and not read too much into things said now. Know everyone is doing the best they can. Fears of loss can be triggered. Again, the opposition can bring an ending and/or intense situations/illuminations. Power struggles.

Plutonian endings are permanent, and if something ends, well, now we know where we stand and still standing, we are (in the 2020's if you aren't lying down in a big old mahogany box, and I think I can safely assume you aren't, we are STANDING).

After his face-off with Pluto, Mercury (communications, information, our mental processes, siblings, local community, commerce, transportation) moves on into Leo. Leo is the space we carry what 'makes us special'. It also speaks of our relationship to special/to royalty/to the king. With Mercury (communication, intellect) here, it will be easier to put our 'special' into words and to connect with the ideas and conversations that will push forward whatever we are most passionate about.

We will want our words to be heard and appreciated now. Even the most reticent among us will want an audience. Our thinking/ideas (Mercury) can catch fire (Leo). Or we will want them to.

The Sun/Pluto opposition happening hand-in-hand with the Mercury ingress into Leo speaks of this year's Mercury in Leo season being peppered with some power struggles/endings.

Leo is a fixed fire sign, so words can burn, and words can dig us even more rigidly into our positions.  With Leo there is great opportunity for win-win and also for 'nobody wins'. The energy is excellent for teaching us how we express what we are passionate about. It's very supportive of 'top of the mountain' heart-filled type of proclamations and proposals.

Do people listen to us? Does what we say matter? We will care about this now.

Ok, my brain is zapped tonight. Back with that New Moon post and the politics.
