the astrology of the New Moon in Libra | october 21st, 2025 - intense words and information, angelic help available, grand water trine setting up for the rest of the year, partnership and balance fresh starts and resets incoming

On Tuesday, October 21st, 2025, at 8:25AM the Moon in Libra catches up with the Sun at 28 degrees giving us this month's New Moon - our annual New Moon in the cardinal air sign of LIBRA.

With this lunation we are starting a series of 28-degree New Moons that are going to take us all the way to April 2026!

Think about this. The final degree is 29 degrees, so we get almost to the end - month after month after month - during this pivotal time BEFORE getting the fresh start/New Moon. This speaks of perseverance. We keep going. This speaks of getting ahead of ourselves - we get the New Moon and then are almost immediately tossed into the new sign and probably most, if not all, of these New Moons will be the Moon's final aspect! It's always darkest before the dawn.

It's late in the game - BUT NOT TOO LATE. We need to "begin" more consciously, with awareness of consequence, history and what is closing.

With Libra’s New Moon as the first in this sequence, we’re inaugurating a cycle where balance, cooperation and karmic harmony are key AND this lunar pattern starts with asteroid Angel in an exact conjunction. Divine assistance!

Let's dive right in and unpack the chart!

Libra New Moons are about new ways to partner/new people/new connections/new situations. New LOVE - not the deep kind necessarily (although it could turn out to be), but the social kind that gets us invited to coffee and walks in the park. New peace and harmony. New negotiations. What is fair now? What is balanced now? What does justice look like now? This is a cardinal energy - something wants to START.

The Moon and Sun are conjunct at 28 degrees Libra and exact with asteroid Angel. The Moon/Sun oppose Chiron and are just separating from their opposition to the Jupiter/Chiron/Eris square. We talked about this in the weekly HERE, but we will add Eris into the mix here. The Moon squares Pluto in Aquarius, applying/out of sign and is making inconjuncts/quincunxes with just about everything else. The ruler of this lunation is Venus, strong in her home sign of Libra and exactly conjunct asteroid Thereus. Vesta in Sagittarius squares the Node of Fate with the South Node exactly conjunct asteroids Orcus and Panacea. Mercury and Mars are conjunct at 20 degrees Scorpio (the ascendent of the Charlie Kirk assassination chart - so what's happening with that?! something surely, but possibly hidden and the degree of Medusa in the discovery chart of 3I (three-eye) Atlas - the comet that comes closest to the Earth TODAY. Radio silence from NASA - closed due to the government shut down!

Let's start with Vesta. She isn't in contact with the lunation, but her exact square to the Nodes of Fate in this chart is the kind of background noise the New Moon energies are working with. We associate Vesta with the Vestal Virgins of ancient Rome. Charged from childhood (around age 7-10) with keeping the sacred hearth of the temple burning, the Vestal Virgins were supposedly also required to remain chaste for their 30-year careers. In recognition of their unending devotion to the flame that kept their civilization alive (working round the clock if neededthey were also given the unique freedom that came from being "unowned" by men. Vesta represents something like a 'sacred devotion/what is keeping us up at night'. In Sagittarius, this could be about something foreign, legal, next step/big-picture, expansive, higher education, media/publishing, your Sag natal chart house theme. The sign is about broad strokes and distant potentials. Vesta entered Sagittarius back on September 13th, an important time right in between the two fall Eclipses, on course to square the Nodes of Fate and it's exactly now, at this New Moon, that she does.

So, maybe this is a moment when our devotion needs re-direction. Maybe we’ve been too rigid or too loose, too idealistic or too detail obsessed. Squares are tension and frustration that require action and squares to the Nodes always indicate something that wants to integrate - it’s not quite ready to move forward until an inner or outer adjustment is made.

With Vesta, that adjustment could be about what (or who) we’re tending to, protecting, or sacrificing for. In Sagittarius, maybe the devotion has grown too dogmatic or idealized. If we’ve been burning the flame for a vision, cause, belief system, or “truth” maybe here is a time when that needs testing against reality. Happening at the Libra New Moon maybe this is asking us - do we stay true to our vision even if it isolates us, or do we allow collaboration to temper the flame? And of course, once again this year with the Nodes in Virgo and Pisces we are pushed to shift from Virgo perfectionism and problem-solving toward Piscean faith, compassion and imagination. The square says - this isn’t freakin' easy. The fire of Sagittarius is very resistant to surrender always preferring to preach or prove.

Maybe what’s needed is trust and to let devotion be inspired rather than obligated

With Panacea and Orcus both conjunct the South Node in Virgo, we’re looking at past patterns of trying to fix, clean, or control what’s “wrong” and the shadow that comes from that. The South Node represents both what we’ve mastered and also what we may now need to release or integrate. So, when the “healer” (Panacea) and the “underworld oath-keeper” (Orcus) sit there together in precise Virgo, the past becomes a mix of 1. remedy - that relied on logic, diagnosis, and doing things “the right way” and some kind of 2. reckoning that says healing that excludes the soul (or avoids the dark) becomes sterile/brittle/the center will not hold. Old cures that may have become poison, oaths or moral contracts that once kept us safe are now keeping us stuck. There could be something here about surrendering the idea that perfection will save us and then the Vesta square adds pressure from whatever wea are devoted to. With Orcus there can also be something about moving away from 'ancient vows'. Keep in mind this year the way forward is PISCES - surrender and trust, compassion and imagination. Knowing that not everything broken needs fixing for it to be made whole.

The old paradigm of fixing and then binding is being asked to yield.

The Moon is coming off her square to Jupiter and opposition to Chiron. This is a cardinal T-Square pointed at Jupiter - ruler of Sag and Vesta. We talked about this HERE. BIG feelings (Jupiter in Cancer) collectively this is about mom/home/family/roots/country - trigger very old wounds and vulnerabilities around being ourselves, being alone, being able to take care of ourselves/being accepted.

The New Moon wants to put this in our rearview mirror/move us PAST THE PAIN. She sits with the Sun and asteroid Angel

(I haven't seen Angel since she showed up on Trump's ascendent during his assassination attempt, saved his life and made him President).

We might feel a heightened sense of spiritual presence, synchronicity, or moral awareness. Maybe we will feel a pull to act as the angel in someone else’s life, or to notice where grace is quietly intervening in our own.

Collectively this adds a kind of 'divine interference' to whatever is starting/closing. Angel is a reminder that the sacred is watching over the process of breakdown and rebirth.

Venus is the ruler of the New Moon in Libra, and she is strong in her home sign. This is good news. There is something kind of stalkerish with Thereus nearby - he is the centaur that would drag home the bears, so is kind of known for stalking and pouncing. We have seen him a few times in charts (sometimes kidnapping charts) and he was prominent enough in summer/early fall for me to add him to my Mars in Libra post HERE. In myth, Thereus was a figure both wild and relentless. When the goddess of love and beauty joins this archetype, maybe desire itself becomes more primal and revealing. Maybe this isn’t the usual soft Venus in Libra, maybe this is a time when what attracts us also exposes what we’ve tried to civilize or control. Because Venus rules this lunation, the tone of the New Moon carries this charge - harmony born not from avoidance, but from an honest meeting with the wild within and without. What we are drawn to now may show us both our longing for connection and the deeper, raw truth beneath it. This feels to me to be echoing the Moon's applying square to Pluto and quick dive into Scorpio - the chart is saying it's time to make peace with negative feelings.

Our knee-jerk reaction with the Moon in Libra is to preserve the peace at any cost. Libra Moon people - and sometimes Libra Suns - will suppress conflict and any emotions that might rock the boat. They are also very charming and able to 'smooth things over'. This is all in play now, too. And of course, we can see this New Moon energies and themes very active in world events ...

Mercury and Mars are conjunct at 20 degrees Scorpio. Mercury/Mars make words intense/focused and INSTINCTIVE. Conversations and information can feel like life and death - and sometimes they will be. Scorpio is very powerful and mostly invisible, so USE YOUR WORDS CAREFULLY and intentionally now. Secrets come out and, at the same time, information is hidden.

Comet 3I (three-eye) Atlas (the Titan condemned to hold up the world for eternity after the Titans lost their battle with the Olympians) was discovered and named on July 1, 2025, with Venus EXACT on fixed star Algol - the most malevolent star in our galaxy, third eye of Medusa, alcohol/algorithms, losing our head. 3I Atlas passes closest to Earth TODAY on the Libra New Moon that Venus rules. With Medusa (our hurt people hurt people wounding/owner of that third eye) at 20 Scorpio in her discovery chart and 20 Scorpio being the ascendent of the Charlie Kirk assassination chart that is such an enigma, we will pull the comet into Part V of that series next.

MONTHLY AFFIRMATION TIPS:

Get grounded - we have moved from an earth sign into air, so this is important - always make affirmations from a positive place (positive meaning both certain and light-hearted/happy). It is a good idea, since the New Moon is literally a blank sheet, to work in a clean, uncluttered space and maybe right after a bath or shower.  We are planting seeds in the dark here - think about the ultimate seed in the dark planting - making a baby. What would you do then? Do that - yes, maybe even that, the Moon does dive right into Scorpio after the lunation :)

I find affirmations are most effective if I speak less on New Moon days so my words will hold more weight when I need them to. I usually burn a white candle to help me focus and thin the veils between me and me. It also helps to channel ancestral energy a bit since I am always thinking as I move my story forward, their story moves forward with me. Write your affirmations down by hand in cursive, we want the letters all connecting and flowing together. Speak the words out loud.

I don't think it's terribly important what we do with our writings as long as we are not pulling them out and checking on them all the time.

We are not handing a honey-do list to the universe! We are lining up with the universal energies of creation here.

I also wouldn't be sharing them with other people, although this is Libra so there might be exceptions to this, which also feels like it dilutes the process or pulls them into our story.

Then - and this is the important part - release your attention from your words knowing your intention is known.

Know these things are already yours.

I hope something here is helpful. Back with the Charlie Kirk assassination part V.

xo all

The Sabian Symbol for this New Moon is "a man alone in deep gloom, angels are coming to his aid". To anyone in a very tenuous position right now - hang in there.
