the astrology of where we are now ... the macro and the micro

The biggest event in the news here is probably the Titan submersible missing since Sunday, so let's start with something that has our attention anyway.

The Titan was launched within a couple hours of that "not a time to be leaping" New Moon in Gemini we talked about HERE. That Moon, setting up the lunar month and in play for around 30 days, strongest for the first two weeks, was TRICKY.

It shows a need to stay humble, read the fine print, know things could be prone to dissolving. There is a  need to watch for self sabotage/confusion/deception. The Moon was tightly conjunct asteroid Atlantis which I interpreted as 'calamity, tech out of control, hubris', but could certainly also be read as literally 'sinking into the sea'. The Sun was tightly conjunct asteroid Phaethon whose story I won't repeat here since I went into it in detail in that New Moon post, but speaks of hubris, complicated father/son dynamics (there is a father/son on the Titan). The New Moon in Gemini's chart (Moon/Sun opposing Sagittarius the sign of adventure and the Galactic Center) concluded with a dissolving square to Neptune - not a good chart for a deep sea adventure.

If we look at the chart for the sinking of the Titanic back in 1912, obviously in pretty much the same place, since the Titan was going down to look at the wreckage - we can see connections.

The Moon/Sun, at the time of the Titan's launch, tightly straddled the Pluto (death) of the Titanic chart. Late degree Gemini stuff (likely at least partly because of the Titanic and its continuing hold on our psyches), like ruler Mercury him/herself is TRICKY. It's like the uber hot area of TRICKY Mercury. You might remember all the late degree Gemini connections with the Idaho murders/Ted Bundy and many other events we've looked at. There are multiple troubling fixed stars in that area including Polaris, probably our most famous fixed star (North Star). The Titanic chart's Mercury/Sun conjunction is conjunct Titan's Chiron (wounding). Titanic's Chiron is conjunct Titan's Saturn - and remember Saturn (structure, authority) in Pisces (water, dissolving) had stationed retrograde just hours before that New Moon and was very strong/very watery. In both charts the Sun (life force, ego) squared Neptune (water). The Moon of the Titanic chart (at the time of sinking) is on the Neptune of the Titan chart. Both charts have a strong Juno and the Juno of the Titan chart is conjunct Pluto in the Titanic. From the New Moon post - "With Juno square to Neptune there could be some relationship tension/problems with contracts that are maybe too loosey-goosey/lacking boundaries. Or maybe we have 'idealized' the partner/relationship/contract and now here are some facts/information/conversations at odds with our rose-colored glasses." This is probably all part of the story of the mess this sub, and its occupants, are in now.

If they haven't found the sub before Sunday when the Moon in Virgo will form an exact T-Square with Mercury and Neptune, that could be when it is found/information known/search called off, etc. The "truth" may always be hard to know, unless, against all odds and unlikely with this chart, there are survivors. Pisces is also the sign of miracles and there is always hope (Pandora tightly conjunct Uranus in the Titanic chart and tightly conjunct Neptune in the Titan chart).

OK, let's take a look at where the rest of us are now.

We know we are in the lunar cycle of the Gemini New Moon, heading toward next week's Capricorn Full Moon, but what else is going on?

Venus is a HUGE player this summer with her 40 days and 40 night retrograde in Leo and she has just started covering degrees she will walk three times. People with planet/points in Leo and the other fixed signs will likely feel this most personally, but we will all be impacted. I wrote about this in detail HERE. For now, she is moving forward for the first time, so we know whatever we are doing now MATTERS - will be subject to re-looks and re-visions and all the other "re's" because we will be back over these same degrees AGAIN AND AGAIN. People from the past can return (sometimes briefly), things we used to love/value can be re-ignited - basically Venus retrogrades are our chance to re-assess what we love and value through Leo - so, collectively through our hearts, by needing and giving attention/appreciation, by standing out, by having fun, through romance, through children, and for us, personally, all the collective themes are in play plus the themes of our natal Leo house.

Keep in mind what Venus is - Venus is the invisible force of attraction - love, relationships, art, friendship. Venus pulls these things together. Venus is always reminding us to honor our natural attractions - the people, colors, tastes, art, animals and interests we are drawn to. Our attractions are our primary clues as to how we can make a unique contribution to the world.

She has two aspects to her - one is contemplative - observing patterns of relationship - between people, within our art, in nature, etc. The other aspect is dynamic -  paintbrush meets oilcloth, girl meets boy, writer meets publisher, etc.

I couldn't find the last time Venus retrograded entirely in Leo. Eight years ago when she was retrograde in Leo, we started out in Virgo, so we took our work, our daily doings and obligations back into Leo - do we still have passion for this, etc. This one is ALL LEO. I will write a part II to that earlier post once we get closer to her station on July 22nd.

Mars is in Leo, too, now. Mars and Venus are not going to actually meet and by the time Venus turns around for her re-do, Mars will be in Virgo. This is important because the last time Venus and Mars met (the feminine and masculine) was at 0 degrees Aquarius - one of the reasons gender issues have become even more activated among other things - and the next time they meet is ALSO IN AQUARIUS. Our relationships will continue to be more detached, individualistic, futuristic. If they met now in fiery/passionate/heart-centered Leo, this would be a whole different story. But they don't. :(

For now though, Mars is in fiery Leo, a sign he most especially likes. He hasn't been in Leo in a couple years and will be here until July 10th. This is good energy for taking action with what our heart desires, the way we are here to SHINE. Time to DO YOUR SUN. Our Leo natal houses are RED HOT. Mars is going to square Uranus on Monday. This is EXPLOSIVE. Unpredictable. Risky. Maybe dangerous. Is applying/strong even now. The drive for attention/appreciation is strong. Slow down a bit. Act with care.

Mercury is home in Gemini for just a couple more days - will move into Cancer on June 26th. Yes, he/she is FLYING. Mercury is applying to his square to Neptune - exact on  Sunday. It is challenging to KNOW/to be clear. There is confusion/deception here. Also things can be wet, tiring, etc. Add the foggy Mercury to a Mars/Uranus square and this sounds like a recipe for an ACCIDENT. Stay frosty. Again, slow down. Act with care. Understand the CONSEQUENCES.

Saturn is retrograde in Pisces. Pluto has retrograded back into Capricorn. Neptune will station retrograde in just a few day (June 30th). Things are not full steam ahead, keep this in mind.

Many important asteroids/energies just changed signs or are about to. Juno will leave Gemini for Cancer (home. family, real estate, patriotism, what make us feel safe), Vesta will leave Taurus for Gemini (valuing the new/fleeting/casual) - this happens today and she leaves Taurus off a trine with Pluto focusing our devotion/attention on ONE IMPORTANT PHYSICAL THING - then our focus shifts/loosens a bit. Are there more options/choices? Do we need more conversations, more communications, more ideas?

Ceres left Virgo for Libra (partnerships, balance, beauty, women). Pallas will leave Leo for Virgo on July 10th. For now, she is in Leo with Mars and Venus, helping us be wise with/and see the patterns with our desires, our play, our romantic relationships, children. Know there is much change happening now, at the time of the Solstice. That should be mostly good news, sets us up for newness of the new season, counterbalances some of these retrograde energies.

We are finishing up the Nodes in Scorpio and Taurus. On July 17th, the same day as our next New Moon - the New Moon in Cancer, always important since Cancer is the Moon's sign - the Nodes move into Libra and Aries. Venus and Mars switch places. Expect a big post. Usually from what I have seen in the last decade the Nodes tend to go out with a BANG. And this time, they will move into Aries/Libra with a square to that retrograde Pluto in Capricorn, so they will come in with a bang/transformation, too. We'll talk about that in a BIG nodes post.

I am not sure how big-picture this is.

Maybe this is more micro and than macro after all :)

The big picture is we are creating the culture/the world that future generations, and yes, there will be plenty of them, will be living in. We are up to this task/needed or we wouldn't be here during such times. These next few months with Pluto back in Capricorn is a time to notice what has eroded that we once depended on. Maybe we are still holding on. Maybe we have let go. The shifting sands of our crumbling base. There is a humbling here, but we've been here before. We know this territory very well.

Yes, more humbling! UGH - hopefully we have used that North Node in Taurus the last 18 months to simplify and stabilize some things.

The humbling is much needed before we full steam ahead back into Aquarius ....so we don't f*ck that all up.

xo all
