Pluto into Aquarius | 2023 - 2044 - fear of the future, the power of technology, the power of socialism, the power of friendship, the dangers of group think, overhauls happening overnight, the end of knowing what's next, life after work and ambition

We are going to get a sneak peak of Pluto into Aquarius in 2023 (as Pluto dips his toes into Aquarius from March until June), then in 2024 we get a brief glance back at the past (as Pluto dips back into Capricorn) and, then, finally by late autumn 2024, we have the real deal FULL ON - Pluto in Aquarius.

No more of Pluto hankering for his good old days in powerful Cappy, he will stay put in Aquarius - the sign of the people, tech, the future - until 2044.

We can see how BIG the changes will be, by all the prep work we get to ease us into this new paradigm. The Universe is always supporting us as it heads toward POSSIBILITY (rather than away from constraint as some might have us think).

Life anticipates what's possible and heads in that direction regardless of the temporary un-pleasure or how long it takes.

Evolution knows what it's doing.

With Pluto's change of sign piggybacking on the New Moon in Aries which is itself piggybacking on the Spring Equinox (not to mention Venus and Juno on the North Node in graceful Taurus) - the energy is literally shouting at us to WAKE UP. "Here are the portals you need to turn fear into bravery and ease. Here is the best opportunity we can give you to respond as the seasoned co-creator you are and not a dependent/rebellious youngster."

When Pluto went into Capricorn at the end if 2008 - we had the banking crisis triggered by the housing crisis and Obama had just been elected President. He came in like a bulldozer (Pluto not Obama). Once in Cappy, Pluto began moving toward his square with Uranus - which happened SEVEN TIMES between 2012 and 2015 - think Facebook, the Arab spring, gay marriage, among other things. We moved a few years past that when Pluto started his collision course with Saturn, which perfected only once in January 2020, because once is enough when "time runs out and reality is destroyed". And, here in the United States, the in-between years were dominated by Trump's Presidency and his natal Uranus/North Node/Sun conjunction being a perfect fit for Uranus in the sign of leadership/government/authority. Pluto in Capricorn is/was a wild ride!

With Pluto in Aquarius, he will be interacting with Uranus, too.

But Pluto will be in Uranus's sign which changes things and instead of the testing/frustrating squares we had with Pluto in Capricorn we will get smooth trines. From 2024-2029 Pluto in Aquarius will trine (brakes off) Uranus in Gemini. This is our ROCKET SHIP into the future folks, ready or not.

As I write this, Pluto has, for now, moved off my 29 degree Capricorn South Node. My over-used and over-loaded Cappy tendencies ripe for transition. I am looking ahead to May and July's challenging nodal squares - as signals this transition is not going to be a walk in the park. In May, Pluto in Aquarius will square the Nodes of Fate in Taurus/Scorpio. In July, Pluto, back in Capricorn, will square the Nodes of Fate in Aries/Libra. The world will be interesting. In evolutionary astrology squares to the Nodes of Fate are called skipped steps.

So, in 2023, before Pluto gets cemented into Aquarius next year, skipped steps will be dealt with.

With Pluto in Aquarius - for the first time since the American, French and Industrial Revolutions - we have the planet of EVOLUTION in the sign of REVOLUTION.

Keep in mind this is a LONG 20 year transit that begins with fits and starts. Everything isn't going to happen all at once, but the way things start matters and what happens between now and Pluto's retrograde on May 2nd, and how that changes between May 2nd and June 11th, when Pluto returns to Capricorn for the rest of the year, is likely to be a kind of "preview" of next year's more dramatic and lasting changes. Pay attention collectively. Pay attention personally. We are all in this together.

Pluto is power/life and death. So, it is likely over the next 20 years, we will see the things Aquarius rules both empowered and destroyed.

The power of Pluto can create obsession and conjure up alot of fear because there are reasons we have pushed down deep the stuff Pluto rules. We don't want to deal with it/look at it.

He comes into a space and takes away the false power/basically torches the landscape and then, over time, REAL POWER, can grow in the scar-strengthened ground. Your natal Aquarius house is a space you are naturally more eccentric, detached, intellectual. Now Pluto comes in here to make us more emotional, obsessed, passionate. We will feel things we have never felt before. Situations will conspire for us to feel things INTENSELY in an area of life we are used to dealing with through our intellect and detachment.

One of the most important things happening now, RIGHT NOW, children are being born - for the first time in hundreds of years - with Pluto in Aquarius. These children are the ones anchoring in this new paradigm through their physical bodies. They are almost like an alien race :) here to change our future. Their experiences will be filtered very differently than the rest of us.

I hope we are ready for them!

Let's make some word salads for Pluto and Aquarius and see what we get:

Transformation (Pluto) in ways we can't anticipate (Aquarius).  Awakening to the truth. Transforming via the power of technology. Destruction of technology. Transforming via the power of groups. Destruction of groups. Empowered socialism/communism. Destruction of socialism/communism. We are enlightened to what is hidden underneath. Group-think is empowered/destructive/destroyed. Unexpected/shocking/traumatic transformation. Deep/internal enlightenment. AI is empowered. AI is destructive. AI is destroyed. Empowerment of science. Destruction of science. Plutocracy answers to the people/groups. Plutocracy answers to tech. Technology creates wealth. Outsiders gain power. Tech uncovers hidden truths/secrets. There will be fast reversals of power and fortune. Empowerment/destruction within gender issues. Detached situations stirred up with passion. The end of the predictable.

Keep in mind although this list, yes, sounds like trouble, other planets will be in other places interacting with Pluto and each other. It's not going to be all about Pluto. And he is the planet of death after all, we can't expect him to bring us a walk in the park ... unless maybe we are investigating a triple homicide in the area.

Remember Pluto is influencing Aquarius and Aquarius/Uranus is influencing Pluto. Also Uranus is in Taurus answering to Venus and, now, Pluto will be, too. It's a very good sign that benevolent Venus in currently very strong in her home sign of Taurus at Pluto's first move into 0 degrees Aquarius. She is conjunct Juno (relationships, our relationship with the king/the things we do for love and power, contracts) AND the North Node of Fate - our best and most abundant way forward. This will be very helpful.

(note - Pluto enters Aquarius for the second time on 1/20/24 EXACTLY conjunct the Sun, so whatever we have happening/our relationship with power will be clearly illuminated. And, of course, Pluto is starting a new story with the Sun here. Then on November 19, 2024 when Pluto enters Aquarius - and crosses 0 degrees Aquarius for the last time in hundreds of years, which remember is "the world starts up again" degree from the Winter Solstice 2020, Pluto will be in a sextile with the Sun, while Venus in Cappy sextiles Saturn and Mars (in Leo) trines the North Node, so that entry point looks opportunistic, too)

Just before Pluto changes signs this week, he makes a smooth trine to Ceres.

We talked about Ceres in the New Moon post. She is retrograde in Virgo now - back here ironing out our imbalanced relationships. Spaces we are over/under-nourishing as well as re-thinking/re-working other Ceres themes - change of life storylines, things that are outside our control, resource/food issues, situations that require complicated compromises, mother/child scenarios. The Ceres/Pluto dynamic is something like a mother-in-law and son-in-law relationship which now is in a smooth flow. Pluto is empowering Ceres with whatever she is re-working and Ceres is giving Pluto some last minute motherly advice - Virgo-type motherly, so practical and organized - for his start into Aquarius. Her two cents/sense is put in. And because this is happening we know this is needed to happen. What does that say to us in our own life? What house/theme does Virgo rule in your natal chart?

I have a natal Pluto in my 10th house and I notice career changes (10th house rules career) in my life have consistently happened within a year of Pluto changing signs. Now, I am a Scorpio rising, so my modern ruler is Pluto which might make this more noticeable to me, but take a look your natal Pluto house - not the house he rules, but the house he resides - and think about what was happening in 2023, 2008, 1995, 1984, 1971, 1957. Some dates may be about things happening with your parents depending on your age.

I wasn't going to dip into the houses in this first post, but since I am so late putting it out there - got sick after my trip last week - I am thinking it should go up NOW :)

Use the sign that rules your first house - you can email me and I can check for you if you don't know what it is - also the house before and after to see what fits best. You can also use your Sun sign which brings your Sun to the ascendant for a more thorough look, but your rising sign will likely be most accurate.

People with planets in Aquarius (and the other fixed signs through squares and oppositions) will feel Pluto in Aquarius strongest as Pluto interacts with our natal planets. Keep in mind he won't be interacting with your planets for the entire 20 year transit. Since he is an outer/collective planets I would use a very tight orb with Pluto, he will be strongest within a degree or two to your natal planet.

ARIES RISING - THIS IS ALSO THE COLLECTIVE INFLUENCE. Pluto leaves your 10th house of career, public reputation and goals - keep in mind he will be back here in a few weeks for the rest of the year to wrap something up. What has happened with your career since 2008 Aries? He now enters your 11th house of WHAT COMES AFTER that career/ambition/public life. The 11th house is Aquarius's natural house and a space you are naturally more detached/intellectual. Pluto comes into this area of your life to transform your relationship with the collective. His presence will make this area of your life that includes friendships, groups, the goals that bring you into connection with other people - more emotional, focused, deep, passionate and even obsessive. Outgrown friendships will wither on the vine. You will see the hidden underpinnings of groups. Your affiliations can change. You are charged with figuring out, through dealing with your own and other people's power, where you stand within groups and group goals.

TAURUS RISING - Pluto leaves your 9th house of your big-picture-beliefs, travel, publishing, religion, weddings. Breaks with your local environment and change in your belief system were possible. What has happened in this area of your life since 2008, Taurus? Pluto now enters your 10th house of career, public reputation and goals. This is a space you are more naturally detached/intellectual. Pluto's presence here will make you more emotional, focused, deep, passionate and even obsessive around this area of life. Your career/public life will be transformed. You will see the hidden underpinnings of corporate structures, large institutions and authority. By owning your own power and dealing with other people's power, you will be charged with making your public life, work in the world, goals and reputation more honest and in line with your own individual purpose.

GEMINI RISING - Pluto leaves your 8th house of intimacy, other people's money, third party situations, psychological issues and life and death. You have undergone a dark night of the soul dear Gemini and are now stronger and wiser for it. What life and death transformations have happened in your life since 2008, Gemini? Pluto now enters your 9th house of your beliefs, travel, legal issues, the media, publishing, weddings, religion. This is a space you are more naturally inclined to intellectual/detached maneuverings and with deep/powerful Pluto here, you will be more emotional, intently focused, deep, passionate and even obsessive. Situations will conspire for your big-picture-beliefs (including religious) to die and be reborn. Your relationship to 'what is foreign to you' will be transformed.

CANCER RISING - Pluto leaves your 7th house of partners. Since 2008 an important relationship could have ended or the way you relate one on one to other people been totally changed. There also could have been big changes in a partner's life. Pluto now enters your 8th house of shared money/intimacy, life and death, taxes, inheritance, insurance, sex, fertility, reproduction, the things we don't talk about in polite company. This is Pluto's natural house and you will be charged with transforming your relationship with other people's money and intimacy. Secrets can come out to be replaced by truth. You could inherit money during this transit. The way you merge your resources and yourself will change. Since this is the house of the stuff we have stuffed, the potential to deal with shadow issues and heal old trauma - even past life/ancestral - is very great through 2044. This is a great gift to you in this lifetime, but of course, won't always be comfortable.

LEO RISING - Pluto leaves your 6th house house of your day-to-day activities, routine, your work, co-workers, your pets and your health. Good news for you if you are hopeful to dial down the intensity of your life in these areas which may have been on over-drive since 2008. Pluto now enters your 7th house of partners. This is a space you are most naturally inclined to deal with intellectually/maybe even keep the people closest to you at arm's length. That will change during this transit as your closest relationships become more intense. A key relationship will be transformed from the ground up or it will permanently end during this transit. There could be dramatic and deep changes in a partner's life. A new and intense relationship could begin.

VIRGO RISING - Pluto leaves your 5th house of children, creative projects, romance, recreation and your natural spotlight. The intensity of something within these themes since 2008 will dial down. Pluto has likely done his job of bringing your need to be loved, appreciated, even adored to your attention. Children could have been a catalyst during this time. Now Pluto enters your 6th house of your day-to-day routine, your work, co-workers, your pets and your health. Do your routines enrich or enslave you? If you are resenting your responsibilities or avoiding them, results will effect you. You want to take care of your health with Pluto here to avoid unwanted problems. With Pluto in your 6th house your job, daily routine and health can be completely transformed.

LIBRA RISING - Pluto leaves your 4th house of home, family, home, business, family business and mother/motherhood. The intensity of the demolition and reconstruction you have been going through in these areas since 2008 will end. You could have healed some very old/very deep familial trauma (including past life and ancestral) through surviving the situations that have transpired. Now, Pluto enters your 5th house of children, romance, recreation, creative projects, your heart and your natural spotlight. These are areas of life you might normally deal with in more intellectual, sometimes detached ways. Not any more. Fears around your creativity, your children, your heart health, your ability to shine, to love and be loved can come up to be transformed. If you are at an age to want children, the desires can get intense. New attractions might border on obsessive at times. With Pluto here you are charged with excavating no less than the very expression of your purpose.

SCORPIO RISING - Pluto leaves your 3rd house and I hope you have found your voice dear Scorpio - if not, don't worry you have another year of Pluto peeking back in here. You are ruled by Scorpio and his favorite, he will support your efforts. Since 2008, you may have totally transformed the way you communicate, your relationship with your local community, your siblings, your tech. Now, Pluto enters your 4th house of home, family, your roots, your mother/motherhood, home business, family business. This will be your field of excavation/transformation. You might move - if so, the process of letting go will likely be intense/cathartic. Someone could leave your home. Situations can end and the endings will transform you. Your roots, mother issues - will come up, so you can deal with the shadow side and transform these energies. This is a house you are more naturally intellectual and detached, Pluto's entry into your home will make things more intense and emotional here.

SAGITTARIUS RISNG - Pluto leaves your 2nd house of money, your values, resources and self-esteem. Hopefully you have risen like the phoenix from the ashes here since 2008. The way your money, values and resources connects to your self-esteem should be clear to you by now. Challenges to your self worth/your pocketbook/what you thought you needed were possible. You have had a complete overhaul of your survival strategies. Now Pluto enters your 3rd house of communications, information, siblings, your local community, tech and transportation. You will be given the opportunity to find your voice/the authority of your words through a deep process of transformation. Contracts will be signed and commitments (long lasting/permanent) will be made. Your thinking will become more focused/intense.

CAPRICORN RISING - Pluto leaves your 1st house - YAY - I will celebrate for you dear Cappy - you have been through so much! Permanent transformation of your physical self, your brand, the way you present yourself to the world is nearly over. By the end of 2024, and maybe this has already happened, a completely new you will arise - like a butterfly from a caterpillar. Pluto now enters your 2nd house of your money, resources, values and self-esteem set on transforming your self worth and finances. Fears around losing money and what you need to survive will help you develop unbreakable survival strategies. New sources of income, new resources can come in. You could get obsessed with a new interest or what you want.

AQUARIUS RISING - Pluto leaves your 12th house of what is hidden/put away/done behind the scenes or behind your back, secrets, the ethereal realms, hospitals, your imagination, music, prisons, addiction, healing, past lives. Something here has been deeply and permanently transformed since 2008. Pluto now enters your first house dear Aquarius - the power naturally wants to flow to you. There will be a direct impact on your appearance, how you present yourself, your brand. Pluto in the first house can trigger an identity crisis as who you were - the caterpillar - is being replaced by who you really are - the butterfly. It doesn't get any bigger than this.

PISCES RISING - Pluto leaves your 11th house of your friendships, groups, causes, the internet, the public, the goals that bring you into connection with other people, technology, what comes after work and ambition. Your relationship to the collective has been completely transformed since 2008. Hopefully you have moved beyond the structures of your 10th house and embraced something new in the 11th, if not you still have 2023 to finish this up! Now Pluto enters your 12th house of what is hidden/put away/done behind you back or behind the scenes, secrets, spirituality, hospitals, your imagination, music, prisons, addiction, healing, past lives and your familial inheritance. Situations will conspire to transform your relationship with 'what was', hidden power struggles and self-sabotage.

Keep in mind these are 20 year transits and unless you have a planet at 0 or 1 degrees of Aquarius, you may feel Mars transit into Cancer today more strongly :)

Back with part II where we'll look at the bigger picture with all of this.

A good change I see right away, at least for the next couple months, is that with Pluto out of the end of Capricorn his monthly clashes with our Cancer Moon will let up - family power struggles. Having Pluto at the end of a sign assured most of our Moons ended with some kind of Plutonian aspect - left us feeling either empowered or powerless. Now, we will get a variety in our Moons, at least for a few weeks.

xo all

Heads up NEXT WEEK IS LOOKING GOOD and we get a breather as Mars settles into Cancer, although this weekend looks busy. Mars will trine Saturn for some solid progress and long term success. Mercury will meet Jupiter providing some good news and optimism and Venus will meet Uranus bringing some unexpected love or money. The week will end with Mars sextile the North Node - an opportunity to improve our future when we take action.

What kind of magic is this!!

We have earned it.

(please excuse any typos, too tired to re-read this puppy ;)
