This is a month that does not belong to the gentle Gods.
This is the time of Mars returned to his throne, armor still warm, pacing the gates with a restless, unspent fire. Mars does not ask if we are ready. He only asks if we are willing to move.
At the threshold to Mars' kingdom of Aries are Neptune and Saturn.
Neptune does not stand at a gate instead he rises like mist across the path. Edges soften. Signals blur. The line between instinct and illusion dissolves. What feels urgent can feel meaningful. What feels inspired can be projection. What feels like clarity can be something we want to be true.
Mars moves anyway. And this is where it will be easy to get lost. Because action comes online before discernment. Momentum builds before reality confirms. We move on feeling without yet knowing what the feeling is made of. Neptune offers/shows the version of the path that feels beautiful, meaningful, destined. But feeling is not truth. And big movements made here - unchecked! - can drift us far from what is real.
The good news that only feels like a stop sign/kick in the teeth is that standing at the threshold to Aries is Saturn, ancient and unyielding, hand on the doorframe to Mars' kingdom. Nothing passes without weight. Nothing starts without consequence. Saturn does not necessarily stop Mars - he tests him.
And beneath all of it, in the unseen architecture of things, Pluto stirs. Quietly. Slowly. He pulls. He takes. And what cannot transform will not be carried forward.
Mars surges ahead and says - now, now, now!
Neptune says - believe it.
Saturn answers - prove it.
Pluto whispers - become it or lose it.
And you, me, all of us are inside this conversation!
Once Mercury gets into Aries, April fully dissolves the soft voice of intuition we’ve come to romanticize from the world of Pisces. This is something older (Aries the first sign and Pisces the last). The body knowing before the mind catches up. This is the instinct that tightens in our gut and says - we go this way or we don't go at all.
THE CHALLENGE for us in April is that as the pressure builds and the tempo accelerates the old fears we carry will rise up to meet it. And fear is clever. It mimics instinct. It sharpens our senses just enough to feel like clarity. It can rush decisions.
Because Mars is asking us to act before we feel fully ready. Neptune is asking us to feel something without yet knowing if it’s true. Saturn is asking us to commit before we feel fully secure. And Pluto is asking us to release what we thought we could/would carry forward.
So, we are stretched (again think about that chrysalis) between who we have been and who we are being made into. And here - this narrow crossing/this month - is where the old identities begin to surface. Because Neptune will inflate and then Saturn will expose our weak points - personally and collectively - and Mars will push on them and Pluto will not let us pretend they are not there.
So, all planets are full steam ahead, so we MUST MOVE FOWARD and, here, this month, is where the sh*t it gets real.
Then at the edge of the month with May almost visible over the horizon, just as the pressure has done its work, another force arrives. Uranus - the sky breaker/the awakener. For years, Uranus has moved through Taurus, shaking the ground beneath our feet. Our sense of security. Our relationship to stability, value, survival. Slowly, persistently, he has loosened what we thought was solid. And now, in a blink, he leaves the ground behind. He takes to the sky (and he is a sky God after all, so this is not bad news at all, but will require some adjustments). He enters Gemini. This change is immediate.
What was slow (is anything slow?) becomes fast. What was embodied becomes MENTAL. What was building becomes broadcasting.
And this is where it will be easy to mistake stimulation for alignment. We have to keep in mind that not every idea is insightful or important. Not every connection is meaningful. Not every sign/signal is meant for us. Not every surge of clarity is actually true. Some of it is just noise and it will be faster, louder and more convincing than before.
If we were ungrounded with Uranus in Taurus (and we all were to some extent because that was the point!), we will be scattered in Gemini. If we are avoiding what is real, we will start to outrun ourselves with information and explanations. We are being given the OPPORTUNITY to learn to - and keep in mind this is a LONG PROCESS that is just starting! - hold our center through disruption, think without fragmenting, think on our feet, tap into collective genius and discern truth quickly and you can see how through the gift of the chaos of the 2020's (always a rose somewhere among the thorns, many, many roses actually) we are already learning this!
Because Uranus in Gemini does not slow the pace that we already feel is too fast (!) but he will remove the illusion that we ever needed it to.
We have already been through ALOT - this is just the next step. It wouldn't be happening if we weren't ready for it to happen and if we hadn't collectively on some level agreed to participate in this. This is NOT the month we discover who we are, but this is the month we are kind of initiated into who we are becoming. Something BIG is happening within that chrysalis folks and out here in the 'real' world, too. Slow down and give yourself, and other people, a break when things feel hairy.
We must MOVE, but we can question what moves us. We can make choices understanding what we are choosing. Our mantra can be - Not to outrun Mars. Not to be seduced by Neptune. Not to resist Saturn. Not to fear Pluto. And not to scatter under Uranus. But something without all those "nots", my brain feels mushy.
To stand inside the CONVERSATION because what we carry forward into the electric and fiery world ahead must be chosen with our EYES WIDE OPEN and our body onboard or it will be chosen for us by speed.
Next post tomorrow we will talk about sensible ways to get through these weeks.
