MONDAY - Venus sextile North Node/trine South Node
WEDNESDAY - Mars sextile Uranus
THURSDAY - Mars enters Aries
FRIDAY - Third Quarter Moon (20 Capricorn)
This week the month starts to HEAT UP. Next week much more so.
So, move your body more. Slow down. Measure twice before cutting. Be intentional with your words and actions. Drive safely. Keep a cool head and know that others might not. Be careful with knives, fire, your speed, your head. I can't see what's hitting your individual chart and don't want you clobbered, but you know the drill.
Keep in mind I am writing about aspects when they are most exact. They are in play (other than that third quarter Moon) a couple days, and sometimes even a few days, before and after.
Multiple sextiles this week spell OPPORTUNITY, Mars finally crosses the Aries point (so our collective attention is joined on SOMETHING) and comes home to fiery Aries after almost two years and finds a packed house plus Luna and the Sun face off before next week's New Moon.
Let's unpack the week!
MONDAY - we begin the week with a subtle but meaningful CROSSROADS. Venus, strong in her home sign of Taurus reaches out to the Nodes - sextiling the North Node in Pisces (the future) and trining the South Node in Virgo (the past).
Usually the trine here/pull to the past would be stronger. It would be easier to slip back into something or just keep doing what we are already done, but I think this strong Venus, gives the sextile's (a normally weaker/softer aspect) INVITATION from the future equal strength!
Venus is strong in Taurus and very at home with Piscean energy - softened, receptive, compassionate, able to see beauty and meaning beyond what’s tangible. There’s a kind of emotional and spiritual ease here, a willingness to forgive, to flow, to reconnect.
As she trines the South Node (brakes off), slipping back into the past ie old relationships, old patterns, even old ways of loving can feel not just easy, but right. Familiarity can masquerade as truth. Sometimes it will be truth, too, of course. With the Virgo South Node, that familiarity can show up as the pull toward what’s known to “work” - managing, fixing, perfecting, keeping things in order so we feel safe. There’s comfort there. But maybe also, a kind of quiet containment.
The sextile to the North Node in Pisces is different. It doesn't force our hand - it invites. And to get the most from it requires some kind of efforting on our part. The past (South Node) may be easier to return to, and we can certainly access what we know/have back there to help us, routine is very comforting in times of great change/chaos AND at this soft-crossroads (we aren't pushed into anything here) the future asks for a small act of FAITH. Not a leap, not a sacrifice - just a willingness to loosen control, release the need to get it exactly right and trust in something more intuitive/more fluid and less defined. It’s easier to return to what we know, but GROWTH asks us also to trust what we don’t.
Keep in mind there isn't a right or wrong answer here. This is a soft choice point. More potent for people with planets/points in the early degrees of the earth and water signs.
WEDNESDAY - the tone sharpens and the Moon's squares start Tuesday afternoon and take us into Thursday. Mars sextile Uranus suggests an opportunity to do something differently, to pivot, to innovate.
This is a gentle aspect, but with both planets at the final 29th degree of their signs - the anaretic degree of hail-mary style last-minute plays and PRESSURE this normally soft aspect can feel harder/harsher.
Psychologically time is compressed.
This is change at the point of necessity because something has reached its edge. It's now or never.
We can have the feeling that time is running out or we are already too late. The energy carries a kind of emotional finality that can feel like a door has already closed. BUT the sextile, by nature, implies a door is still open. It's not wide open, not without our effort and we can pass it right on by if we want to, but something is available. It doesn’t override the feeling of lateness, but it complicates it in an important way.
Not everything is salvageable at 29-degrees - something is ending, or has reached its limit, yes. That part is real. But the assumption that nothing can be done - that’s where the sextile gently pushes back. With Mars/Uranus, especially, there can be a last-minute opening, an unexpected workaround, a brilliant plan or a sudden shift in trajectory that wasn’t visible before. This is not about a return to what was, but action now can create a different outcome than the one we feared was inevitable.
EXAMPLE for all of us - an example of the Mars/Uranus sextile could be quitting something abruptly, speaking a truth that’s been building, making a bold pivot/decision or even just acting on an idea we’ve been sitting on because we thought it was too late and now suddenly waiting feels impossible and starting feels necessary. If we had some kind of breakup, breakdown, breakthrough when Mars and Uranus clashed at the end of February, the energy now can bring an opportunity that would not have been possible without that break. BOTTOM LINE - we make a move we’ve been putting off, not because we’re ready, but because we can’t stay where we are any longer.
THURSDAY - Mars enters Aries - his home terrain after almost two long years circling the zodiac and at a time when half the skies are answering to him. There's no easing into things, no catching his breath, it's just “we’ve been waiting for you.” THE VOLUME TURNS UP - our Aries houses become more ALIVE - our attention goes here if it isn't already. Aries and Scorpio people are wide awake.
The next few weeks will give all of us more energy, more assertiveness, more courage and more passion! It might take some time for of us to feel this (some will probably feel this right out of the gate) because he is applying to that stop sign/Saturn, but once Mars gets past Saturn in a couple weeks, we should really be feeling this.
Mars here is direct, instinctual and unapologetically alive. After time spent in more complex or constrained terrain, this ingress can feel like a return to clarity. I AM DOING THIS. I AM GOING THERE. That clarity comes with HEAT. Passion. Maybe impulsivity. Maybe anger. We are playing with fire and need to be adult with our matches. This is raw ignition energy, and we will need to be consciously directing it if it is to be constructive rather than destructive. So now we have -
Sun in Aries - identity, vitality, the urge to be
Saturn in Aries - pressure to define, commit, take responsibility for action
Neptune in Aries - ideals, visions, even confusion/delusion becoming personalized and activated
Chiron in Aries - the wound around selfhood, courage, right to exist as we are
Mars entering Aries - the ruler coming home, turning the volume ALL THE WAY UP, but also leading from a place of strength
Mercury about to enter Aries - thoughts and words catching fire next
(Pallas will enter Aries on April 26th and Vesta on May 13th, so even when the planets start making their exits the Goddesses will continue making appearances - Mars will be in Aries until May 18th)
EXAMPLE - starting something, claiming something, moving forward without overthinking. This one is less about reaction and more about pure forward motion. An example could be signing up, saying yes, taking the first step, asserting a boundary, or deciding “I’m doing this” without needing approval, consensus or certainty. EXAMPLE - we stop waiting for clarity/certainty and take the first step, trusting that the action itself will show us what’s next.
Life is saying the ball is in OUR COURT.
With this much Aries, the question isn’t whether something is starting - SOMETHING IS STARTING - the question is whether we are conscious of what we are setting in motion or putting something into motion unconsciously.
FRIDAY - we arrive at the tricky Third Quarter Moon in Capricorn. 20-degrees, still hot from the massive Cappy pile-up in January 2020, when Saturn, Pluto, the Sun, Mercury, and Ceres gathered and something foundational in our collective reality was both cemented and ENDED. 2020 was the year time ran out.
Third Quarter Moons are crisis points in consciousness/in Luna's monthly cycle. Moments of tension/frustration that require action and re-evaluation. We begin to see clearly what is no longer sustainable. In Capricorn, this brings us back to security, structures, systems, career, reputation, authority, responsibility - what we’ve built, what we’ve upheld, and what those things have cost us.
EXAMPLE - an example could be recognizing a commitment that’s no longer working, restructuring our time or priorities, stepping down from something or confronting the cost of maintaining a certain path/public role. EXAMPLE - we see, with sobering clarity/maturity, what something is costing us and begin to adjust accordingly.
Keep in mind this week's Mars/Uranus sextile (closing/waning sextile - they have a conjunction this summer to start a new cycle) - is their follow-up aspect to their square on the day Trump/Netanyahu bombed Iran. This week carries a quieter version of that signature (Mars into Aries probably makes it not so quiet!). It’s responsive. Maybe reactive. Contains opportunities. It suggests that what has already been set in motion continues to ripple, and that choice points still exist within that momentum.
The North Node is in Pisces - prayers are very powerful. So are connection and compassion and art and music. April is a HUGE month. We need to rest when we need rest. We need to move our bodies to release stored energy. We'll need to keep a cool head at times even if that involves some ice cubes and the kitchen sink.
I think we will look at the hairy middle of the month next and then Uranus into Gemini at the end of the month and some important collective/world stuff, tossed in between.
Personally keep in mind with anything you are starting - we are on a crash course with Saturn, so whatever we are doing is going to be quickly REALITY-TESTED. Aries always thinks there's a need for speed and to some extent there is or life wouldn't be providing us with all this Arian energy, but we don't want to run full steam into a brick wall ... so this isn’t the week to ignore the stop signs or paint them over with pink paint and pretend we live in a Barbie dreamhouse. The fire/initiative is real, but so are the consequences.
SPEED MATTERS BUT DIRECTION MATTERS MORE. Keep this in mind.
Happy Easter everyone.
