MONDAY - Sun squares Saturn, Neptune stations retrograde, Third Quarter Moon - Aries
WEDNESDAY - Venus enters Virgo
FRIDAY - Venus conjuncts the South Node and trines Chiron, Chiron trines the South Node
SUNDAY - Sun conjuncts Mercury
For some maybe the pace slows but the consequences deepen ... let's unpack the week and then we will get back to the rest of this MEGA month!
MONDAY - The Sun squaring Saturn is always some kind of an accountability check-in. This feels like back to work after a holiday. Cancer wants to protect what matters/maybe stay home with family and Saturn in Aries asks us if we can sustain it this way or do we need to knuckle down. There may be limits around Cancerian things like - family, housing, our emotional bandwidth, home/family business, mother/mothering, real estate, patriotism, our natal Cancer house theme. Squares are tension/frustration, require action. Saturn/Sun can slow things down, but Mercury is retrograde, so we should be slowing things down anyway. Structural and lasting benefits come from patience.
The Moon in Aries squares the Cancer Sun. More Cancer/Aries. The Moon wants to do/go/fight. The Sun wants to make a pie. Maybe this month's Third Quarter Moon is asking us - what battle no longer deserves our energy? Third Quarter Moons are release points. Aries says - "I can keep fighting!" and Cancer asks - "Should you?" Maybe have a slice of pie instead. :)
Sometimes winning might look like withdrawing our life force/energy/attention from something that's already over or sucking us dry.
This is also the day Neptune stations retrograde at 4-degrees Aries. Neptune will be retrograde until December 12th when he will station direct at 1-degree Aries making this the first Neptune retrograde conducted entirely in Aries since the early 1860s!
With Neptune turning around we put our rose-colored glasses in the drawer. Happening the same day as the Sun/Saturn this is likely reinforcing the theme of REALITY CHECK. Dreams we have outgrown/don't line up with anymore will begin to dissolve. The grip of addictions/escape tendencies can lessen (or increase for a bit depending on our natal chart, but this is always a good time to deal with them in a different way). As Neptune turns inward, we begin seeing the places where we've projected certainty onto stuff that isn't so certain. Fantasies dissolve. Over time. Don't force clarity. Let it emerge.
WEDNESDAY - Our Virgo house gets a visit from the lovely Venus. Virgo Suns and Ascendants get more attractive - both easier on the eye and able to attract what they want. Our natal Virgo houses get more attractive, too!
With Venus in practical Virgo - love becomes helpful. Beauty becomes functional. Affection gets expressed through fixing things. Cleaning something. Cooking dinner. Remembering details. Showing up.
Virgo reminds us that devotion is often quiet. It's less about 'I adore you' and more 'I noticed your tires needed air'. One shadow to watch with Virgo is perfectionism because Virgo always notices what could be improved. That's not a terrible thing, but just don't forget to appreciate what's already lovely. Venus will be in Virgo until August 6th.
FRIDAY - VERY KARMIC DAY - Venus trines Chiron and conjuncts the South Node, Chiron trines the South Node and sextiles the North Node.
This whole day feels karmic. The Venus who arrived in Virgo on Wednesday meets her own history on Friday!
The South Node often brings old patterns back into view. Old values. Old financial habits. Old stories about self-worth. OLD PATTERNS. We sometimes reconnect with people and things and situations from the past.
Venus in Virgo asks - what is truly valuable/what deserves tending? The South Node asks - what have you brought with you? what is inherited/familiar/already known? Chiron in Taurus asks - where did your relationship to worth, security, embodiment and enough-ness become wounded and where can it now become WISE?
Meanwhile Chiron is nicely supported which means healing can come both from discovering something new and from something that has worked before/responding differently to something old. The Nodes of Fate suggest this healing helps re-direct our future/heals very old, even generational woundings. Chiron can also keep this whole Virgo 'sorting' thing from becoming TOO nostalgic - can we touch this old story without becoming the version of ourselves who first lived it?
Picture Venus opening an old cedar chest in the attic. Inside are clothes, letters, recipes, photographs, tools. Venus in Virgo doesn't climb into the chest and live there. She lays everything out on a table. She washes what can be washed. Repairs what can be repaired. Keeps what still belongs to her and tosses the rest. Chiron stands nearby saying, "See? You survived enough to become the one doing the sorting!"
SUNDAY - We reach the halfway point of our Mercury retrograde cycle - Mercury retrograde's cazimi with the Sun. The Sun shines directly onto Mercury/Mercury retrograde sits in the heart of the Sun. Something clicks. We remember something. A conversation comes full circle. An idea we've been revising suddenly makes sense. THIS (whatever this is) is what this Mercury retrograde is about for us.
Bottom line for this week. Saturn asks us to face reality. Neptune asks us to release illusion. Venus asks us to improve what actually matters. Mercury asks us to remember what we've forgotten.
xo all
Back with more of July's HUGE astrology in the next post and we will relook at the Mars/Uranus and see what started. Next Monday Venus will square Uranus, so something is about to get shaken up.
