the astrology of the Solar Eclipse New Moon in Libra | October 14th, 2023 - uncomfortable disruptions, power struggles, endings, re-balancing relationships to re-invigorate and restore, new fated relationships, the relationship wound is where the light gets in, eclipse season begins, part I

the astrology of the New Moon in Libra | October 6th, 2021 - the stuff that won't stay stuffed, what's worth defending, power struggles, relationship imbalances, something begins with a bang, keep a cool head

On Wednesday, October 6th at 7:05AM EDT, the Libra Moon meets the Libra Sun at 13 degrees giving us this month's New Moon - our annual New Moon in Libra.

We look to our natal Libra house (13 degrees) for the kind of theme we will be working with personally. Then we consider the general Libra themes (relationship, partnership, balance, justice, women, beauty), our natal relationship with Venus (and Mars for this one), and we look at the event chart for the time of the New Moon, to see how this all might play out.

Happening with a stellium (group) of planets in relationship-focused Libra including Mars (EXACT with the Sun and Moon), as the Sun and Mercury and Mars get closer and closer and as Libra's ruler Venus prepares to leave Scorpio for Sagittarius and cross the South Node and just hours before Pluto (co-ruler of Scorpio) stations direct after a six month retrograde - makes this an uber POTENT fresh start.

Libra New Moons are about new ways to partner/new people/new connections/new situations. New LOVE - not the deep kind necessarily (although it could be), but the social kind that gets us invited to coffee and walks in the park. New peace and harmony. New negotiations. What is fair now? What is balanced now? What does justice look like now? This is a cardinal energy - something is going to START.

Let's take a look at this specific New Moon - let's unpack the chart!

The Moon/Sun are EXACT, conjunct with Mars and tightly conjunct asteroid Karma. They oppose hurting/healing Chiron and trine Ceres. The Moon/Sun form the apex of a Finger of God formation with Uranus/Chiron as the base. Venus, the ruler of Libra and so the ruler of this lunation, sits uncomfortably at the end of Scorpio, opposed by Sedna and answering to Mars and Pluto. Mars is in Libra answering to Venus and Pluto is retrograde, strong and still at station and preparing to begin moving forward within hours. Pluto is in Saturn's sign, Capricorn, and Saturn is also strong and still at station and preparing to move forward within days.

The New Moon's conjunction with a challenged Mars, not able to be his fiery Martian self in Libra, the sign of his detriment (his opposing sign as the ruler of Aries) brings some challenges.

The good news for Mars is he is in a mutual reception with Venus (for just a little while longer), since Venus is in his other sign - Scorpio. So Mars can access Scorpio, but has to go through Venus (women, balance, civility, diplomacy, beauty) to get there. AND Venus is in Scorpio so can access Libra, but has to go through Mars (men, passion, action, anger). Likely there is an elephant in the room we are trying to avoid dealing with and that ain't gonna work. Cue potential passive-aggressive madness.

This Mars conjunction brings passion/fire/impulsivity, maybe anger to whatever is starting. And keep in mind something is always initiated at the New Moon.  Mars likes to push, but this pushing can come out all passive-aggressive sideways in Libra, so we need to be on our toes here. The feeling that we have to do this NOW can be strong. Mars position tells us action on our part (maybe connected to our identity or the need to defend something of value) IS required.

We'll get back to Mars.

The New Moon is opposing Chiron. This aspect is separating, so the wounding/painful trigger - whatever is inspiring the New Moon event - is in our past. Chiron is also retrograde so this trigger will actually have its roots in a much older situation we may or may not remember.

The New Moon is trining Ceres (preparing to turn retrograde in a  couple days). Trines speak of free-moving energy/obstacles removed. In Gemini, Ceres speaks of smart nurturing. Giving people options. She isn't all cuddly here, so we won't need to be either. Nurturing is expressed through learning and then acting on what we have learned. Gemini is the sign of duality, so there may be more than one way forward, more than one thing that needs to be done at the same time. Ceres also rules season of life situations - are we nurturing something no longer in our life or something that is STILL ALIVE?

With the New Moon (plus Mars) forming the apex of a Finger of God whose base is Uranus and Chiron, it might be the Chironic wounding came out of the blue (if we are honest with ourselves this will not be something totally unexpected with Uranus and Chiron both retrograde) and connects with our future and is a GIFT. Probably because it pushes us to take some action we have been avoiding or maybe because something unexpected happens/some 'third way' through that helps us with this New Moon situation.

The New Moon is inconjunct Uranus which speaks of a sudden event/situation that pushes us to move either before we are ready or in a way we were not totally expecting (Uranus is retrograde, so this won't be something we couldn't somewhat see coming). We are going to need to avoid sudden moves - our Mars will be itching - and we need to avoid passive avoidance - our Venus will be maybe wanting to sit this one out or maybe in Scorpio she wants to go over things again and again, especially if we are feeling neglected/scapegoated and then not get anywhere. Neither way will work and compromise will be uncomfortable and not so effective. What do we do?

Pluto will station direct just hours after this New Moon and with Venus in Scorpio answering to the Lord of the Underworld, his station is even more prominent here. Here is the death/ending that was postponed or here is the transformation that has resulted from the 'death'. Pluto is POWER. Pluto is FEAR. Keep in mind, his movement here is slow, almost imperceptible, but IS happening. Consider when you change gears in your car from reverse to first, but still have your foot on the brake. Our car/our body will feel the change even though we haven't moved. People with planets and points in late-ish Cappy but before 24 degrees will feel this as a lessening/unburdening/things feel less like life and death/less urgent. People with planets/points in late Cappy and on or after 24 degrees might feel pretty much the reverse of this (this includes the United States natal Pluto set for its first exact pass on a Pluto return in February 2022, but in play now - this is about massive structural change in our systems). This is all part of the New Moon story.

OK, back to Mars (and what do we do?).

Mars will push us to move fast and if we do this, well, we will find out the ways fast is good and the ways fast is not so good. The bathwater gets tossed, but probably the baby does, too. Things can get dicey. This isn't some 'charge into battle' Moon with Mars so debilitated, BUT Mars position in this chart tells us some kind of balanced/civil action is probably needed.

The Moon's applying trine to Jupiter might indicate that impulsive/brash action can make problems bigger than they need to be. It also warns of over-doing, over-promising or over-trusting - this might be brought home to us when the Moon meets up with Jupiter in the middle of October. On the other hand, this applying trine to Jupiter - the Moon will meet up with Jupiter on the 15th - brings us luck/good news if we can play our cards right.

Think assertive instead of aggressive.

Take a moment. Catch your breath.

The Moon's final square to a recently stationed Pluto asks us:

Are we willing to let go of our ego attachments that are no longer serving us/making us feel loved/bringing us peace? Can we let go of the stuff we are no longer passionate about? Our old ways of doing relationships? The old things we are doing within our relationships? The old ways we fight or the old ways we flight?

Are we willing to step into new spaces/step up to new plates? Defend what we value? Take action on someone else's abuse of power?

This looks like a power struggle plain and simple.

We need to be facing the facts and taking organized action.

We need to keep a cool head - and this cooling our head thing won't mean burying it.

The Sun/Moon/Mars are conjunct asteroid Karma, so the New Moon situation will have some connection to us resisting old trauma/the spaces we are holding it in our cells. Mostly we fear change/chaos rather than seeing its opportunities.

Be smart - and Pallas is sitting with Uranus in Taurus at the base of the Finger of God, so we have access to her wisdom (how to keep what we have/what we need). Angry moves, too much haste, exaggeration will not work out so well for us. Balanced action, diplomacy, being on the right side of the law/being fair will work out better for us.

There are some things that are meant to go now and Pluto will see to that.

We proceed with caution, but proceed we must.

xo all

Keep in mind Mars and Mercury and the Sun will all meet up within a couple days AFTER this New Moon - this will bring more clarity and help us decide what actions we need to take. We will talk about it as we move through it.

the astrology of the solar eclipse new moon in libra | part II - releasing old relationship contracts, the actions we take to feel safe, the season of the witch comes early

New Moon in Libra | October 16, 2020 - relationship opportunities/challenges, balancing things out, releasing dead passions, moving toward greater stability and happiness

We get what might be the most challenging/opportunistic New Moon of the year (cardinal t-square) in the sign that rules our relationships. Given the amount of time we have spent in the last few months with the same person/people I don't think this is much of a surprise!

On Friday, October 16th at 3:31PM EDT, the Libra Moon meets the Libra Sun (at 23 degrees) giving us this month's New Moon; our annual New Moon in Libra. Because this is happening in Libra we look to our natal Libra house (23 degrees) for the kind of theme we will be working with personally. Then we consider the general Libra themes (relationship, partnership, balance, justice, women, beauty) and we consider what Libra's ruling planet Venus is doing and where she is. And, finally, we look at the event chart for the time of the New Moon.

Something to keep in mind as we talk about the ways this New Moon is challenged - because the Libra New Moon wants to keep things light and balanced and peaceful and flirty and this chart speaks of something else - is that it is usually the challenges in these charts that bring us our greatest opportunities for growth. I know it sounds cliche and like something someone says when we are down and we want to punch them in the mouth, but luckily for them we just did our nails (heads up - my nails look like they were attacked by a badly behaved poodle, so I just might punch), but it is still true.

The stop gate to the NEW is Mars retrograde in Aries.

Are we willing to let go of our ego attachments that are no longer serving us/making us feel loved/bringing us peace? Can we let go of the stuff we are no longer passionate about? Our old ways of doing relationships? The old things we are doing within our relationships? The old ways we fight or the old ways we flight?

The Cardinal T-Square points to that Cappy Pile-up - Pluto, Saturn, Jupiter - and most exactly asteroid Wuhan. The changes wrought by the virus. The limits. The rules. We are at a very BIG moment.

Let's unpack the chart!

The Moon/Sun are at 23 degrees Libra. They oppose Mars (retrograde) and Eris in Aries and square the Cappy pile up - Saturn, Pluto and Jupiter and most exactly asteroid Wuhan. Venus, ruler of Libra and so ruler of this lunation is in Virgo answering to a retrograde Mercury (in Scorpio) who is opposing Uranus. She opposes Neptune (applying), trines the Cappy planets (all applying) and exactly trining Pallas (in Cappy) and is sandwiched between asteroids Pandora and Narcissus (who is exactly semi-sextile the New Moon). The New Moon is trining the North Node in Gemini while Mars trines the South Node (in Sag). Juno opposes Uranus (and we are going to look at her mega-importance in both the U.S. natal chart and Trump's chart in our next post). Vesta opposes Ceres.

With the important opposition and multiple squares - we can see this New Moon beginning can come at us with our back against the wall. There is tension/frustration. Limits. Rules. Libra seeks balance and whatever is seeded now will be anything but! We can expect relationship tension as we move through the next month, but there are also very strong indicators for IMPROVEMENT/RELIEF later in the cycle. For now there is a Cardinal T-Square aimed at Cappy with that empty Cancer leg, so all hard edges with no soft place to fall

(unless you have something near 23 Cancer in your natal - like President Trump with his Saturn/Karma exact conjunction here being transited by asteroid Hopi - another stand-in for covid for him with Hopi exactly conjunct Wuhan in his natal - plus another stand-in for the Hope Hicks connection - and giving him a Grand Cardinal Cross. There could be some changes in his health now/his day-to-day, even within his partnerships or maybe with his natal 6th house (health) ruler in his 10th (career) - changes within his career. We'll get back to him, asteroid Narcissus and the U.S. historical Hopi - "kill all the buffalo to kill all the Indians" in the next post. More chickens coming home to roost).

Just off that Sun/Mars opposition this week (plus the solar squares - we have a big one on Sunday, too) we are being asked - who/what do you want to partner with now? is this relationship balanced? is this working? have I lost me to we? do I need to give up a little me to even have a we? Situations will arise that enable us to find out! And the Cappy pile-up pulls in not only this year's restrictions (covid and our covid responses/authority/responsibilities), but collectively career/ambition challenges and also our Cappy natal house theme challenges.

The good news is the best aspect in astrology is arguably the 'trine' and the New Moon is trining the North Node in Gemini.

This is in the very recent past, so we already have an open door somewhere. Something that has fallen smoothly into place, whispered "over here", drawn us an arrow. With the North Node answering to a retrograde Mercury - this open door could have a connection to the past, too. And with Mars trining the South Node and Venus (ruler of the Moon) trining the South Node's ruler Jupiter - it might be through what we are leaving behind/the door that closes/that we close, that shows us the way.

If it's not this way then it must be THAT WAY.

And keep in mind, we have to factor in our own PERSONAL North Node from our natal chart - THAT will be the way through, too. The current energies are influencing the energies we CARRY. Always.

AND we have Venus, ruler of this lunation exactly trining wise Pallas (in Cappy).

This speaks of strategies, practical systems, connecting the dots - realistic plans for what will make us feel more secure, more financially stable, more connected to other people, MORE LOVED. This is fortuitous and she moves on to trine the other Cappy planets next week - more stability, more power, more luck. And yes, these are practical earth signs, so the harder we work the luckier we get, but that's ok because that's how we roll anyway. This situation is unbalanced, yes, but there is a way through this if we can just keep our wits about us. Big girl pants on. We are a general here and not a foot soldier.

The Moon is in Libra so we are weighing out our options, our goals, our ambitions, our next moves.

(it's not a coincidence the U.S. is having hearings on a new female Supreme Court Justice right now)

Before she gets to these other trines, Venus, is going to have to get past this approaching opposition to Neptune - exact on Sunday - so the details (of our relationships, our money, our values) get blurry/confusing. Maybe too fantastical. Keep your credit card in your wallet and your eyes off that cute guy, who won't be nearly as cute tomorrow and maybe he will be off with your wallet. There might be vague results here, maybe a disappointment. Oppositions can bring endings. With Venus in dutiful Virgo - are we going to keep serving this situation, this relationship, this project or not?

But ultimately Venus reaches her Earth trines and later in this same New Moon cycle reaches her home sign of Libra - this is a very good signal we will reach some sort of agreement/cooperation, fair deal or partnership decision during this cycle!

Let's look at some of the event chart's other aspects to flesh this out. And you might have natal energies that more closely align with something here.

We have Ceres (at the end of Aquarius) retrograding back toward an opposition with Vesta (almost finishing up in Leo). A detached style of nurturing/or collective need at odds with our sacred focus/our heart's desire. We have Juno (in Scorpio) opposing Uranus (in Taurus). Maybe this speaks of our need to get to the bottom of things within a relationship vs the potential instability this will bring to our finances/resources. Or this could be about mergers/intimacy vs liberation. It is not only Mars, but Mars' sister Eris that opposes the New Moon now wanting to just blow this whole thing up. All these energies have a voice now. Everyone gets a seat at the table.

With Mercury retrograding through Scorpio there can be some deep/dark truths we don't want to look at and with these challenges to this cardinal New Moon (fresh start) something we won't want to deal with/adjust to, but adjust we must. We'll talk about the New Moon energies as they play out over the next couple weeks and the next month.

We are on the precipice of some very big changes! There are big/better turning points coming. And we are figuring out what we need/want now. This is a PROCESS. This New Moon chart allows us to look ahead at the next month and see what we will be dealing with emotionally. We can see it's not an easy chart. But nothing about 2020 has been easy, so this last leg won't be either. That's OK. We are playing a long game. We've got this thing.

And keep in mind that new beginnings launched through squares and oppositions can be the difference between, for example, you redoing a room because you have company coming in a week (and the kind of pressures, time restraints that would entail) and you are redoing a room because you just got a bonus at work and really want to redo that room! It doesn't have to be some big crazy thing - unless you have planets/points in your natal/progressed charts in the crosshairs. Collectively though, this is one big old stressful chart that kind of pulls everything together!

MONTHLY AFFIRMATION TIPS:

Get grounded - we have moved from an earth sign into air so this is important - always make affirmations from a  positive place (positive meaning both certain and light-hearted/happy). It is a good idea, since the New Moon is literally a blank sheet, to work in a clean, uncluttered space and maybe right after a bath or shower.  We are planting seeds in the dark here - think about the ultimate seed in the dark planting - making a baby. What would you do then? Do that (yes, maybe even that, Venus is in Virgo answering to Mercury in Scorpio and this is about our relationships, it can't hurt).

I find affirmations are most effective if I speak less on New Moon days so my words will hold more weight when I need them to. I usually burn a white candle to help me focus and thin the veils between me and me. It also helps to channel ancestral energy a bit since I am always thinking as I move my story forward, their story moves forward with me. Write your affirmations down by hand in cursive, we want the letters all connecting and flowing together. Speak the words out loud.

This month, I'm writing mine on my chalkboard while burning a white candle - when the candle burns out, all by itself, then I erase the words first and then clean the blackboard with water. Some people store them until the corresponding Full Moon (in this case during Aries season) and burn them then. Do what feels right.

I don't think it's terribly important what we do with our writings as long as we are not pulling them out and checking on them all the time.

We are not handing a honey do list to the universe! We are lining up with the universal energies of creation here.

And I wouldn't be sharing them with other people, although this is Libra so there might be exceptions to this, which also feels like it dilutes the process or pulls them into our story. I was writing them on my blog for a few months, as examples for people, and that definitely wasn't helpful.

Then - and this is the important part - release your attention from your words knowing your intention is known.

Know these things are already yours.

xo all

Since the Libra Moon is going to close out with a square to Saturn (tonight), let's wait for the Scorpio Moon to do the intentions (she will close with a sextile) - so sometime between 6PM EDT tomorrow night and 6PM EDT the next night. Think about not only what you need from other people, but what you are willing to give/offer, too. We need to be willing to do things differently if we want to have different results.

Autumnal Equinox and New Moon in Libra | whatever it takes to bring ourselves and our relationships back into balance over the next few months, ships will be jumped, contracts will be broken

Just days after the Autumnal Equinox, a collective point of balance, September 25, 2022 at 5:54PM EDT, the Libra Moon meets the Libra Sun giving us this month's New Moon - our annual New Moon in Libra.

They meet at 2 degrees. I like when a New Moon starts close to the beginning, although it almost certainly makes outcomes harder to judge (because it's TOO EARLY).

Let's unpack the chart!

The Moon meets the Sun at 2 degrees Libra. They are applying to an opposition to Jupiter. Exactly conjunct asteroid Rhiphonos. The ruler of this lunation (ruler of Libra) is Venus in Virgo who is conjunct (and answering to) a retrograde Mercury and widely squaring both Mars and Chiron. The Uranus/Saturn square of 2021/2022 is within a 1 degree orb/breathing down our neck.

Since this is also pretty much the Equinox chart, this chart is about more than the next month. We will be working with this chart (yes, with Venus is nit-picking Virgo!) until the Aries New Moon chart next spring.

The biggest aspect is the lunation's opposition to a retrograde Jupiter in Aries. Jupiter works his magic by MAKING THINGS BIGGER, so almost certainly what is started now is in some way destined/designed to be BIG or exaggerated. Certainly apt to GROW, so we really want to think about the seeds we are putting into the ground now. The Moon/Jupiter brings opportunities for luck, success and happiness, but also a warning around over-doing. Over-committing. Over-promising. Over-expecting. Wanting too much. Being a greedy assh*le. Jupiter is retrograde, so we are looking for the gold we missed the first time through - the gold is BEHIND US. The Libra New Moon fresh start will have a connection to something we did before or something from the past. Relationships can come back from the brink with this one.

The Jupiter opposition could force us to look at what we are projecting onto other people, by MAKING CERTAIN PROBLEMS BIGGER. We are likely going to have to rely on ourselves more. Or find different people. Sometimes we are putting the wrong things on the wrong people and then acting like they are letting us down. If your partner is an Aries Moon, the chance of them mothering you, yes, even when you are down and out with covid, is pretty unlikely. So you need someone else in your life for THAT. Sometimes people think they need a whole new relationship when what they really need is a FRIEND.

We are in a whole new world and still trying to do relationships in the same old ways!

Over the course of the next few months many partnership contracts (not just romantic) will be broken/many ships jumped. We will be re-looking at what we have committed ourselves to. If our heart's not in it, we won't be either. With the Uranus/Saturn square in play - things we used to rely on are not as stable and at the same time the new structures will have limits/restrictions. Being free isn't free. There is so much retrograde energy - including both Saturn AND Uranus - nothing will be full steam ahead.

We are going back to go forward.

With Venus conjunct a retrograde Mercury, we are talking/thinking about our relationships. Talking to people we are in relationship with. Old relationships can come back around. Old Mercurian things - commerce, siblings, local community, words, writing, childhood education - can be fallen in love with AGAIN. We could get some good news. Maybe from an old source.

Venus is still in finicky Virgo. Fixing, Refining. In mutual reception to that retrograde Mercury, so we need to go through the fixes/the service/the re-visions to get to Libra - the balance/the relationship/the love. And this opposition to Jupiter is making everything bigger than it should be/needs to be. It will be hard not to be OVER-COMMITTED to something right now! Too much work. Too much service. Too much spending. Venus is opposing Neptune which is draining relationship batteries and finances.

The New Moon is exactly conjunct asteroid Rhiphonos.

Rhiphonos, whose name means 'throwing or casting' was one of the dozen sprites guarding Zeus's son Dionysus from Hera, when she turned them into centaurs. He later pulled Dionysus's chariot. Rhiphonos, the asteroid, was discovered on the day of Ted Kennedy's funeral, which was kind of the end of American royalty. And, of course, this time period has a very strong connection to the passing of Queen Elizabeth and ending of the 'queen' archetype, which I wish I had time to write about, and will, when things slow down. Ironically, he is one of the few centaurs not famous for the way he died, but most of his story has been lost to time. His name definition might also be another admonition to think about what we are projecting onto other people. Think about how we are doing what we are accusing the other person of doing, etc.

The Sabian Symbol for this New Moon is "the dawn of a new day reveals everything changed'. The NEW can begin and take hold quickly. Probably many of the changes, this is a lunar event after all, will be INTERNAL.

Just before this New Moon, the Moon passes over Venus, opposes Neptune, passes over Mercury and then meets the Sun and then will oppose Jupiter. She then trines Mars and Uranus and goes void off a square to Pluto. So, things are complicated and this "relationship-focused" New Moon ends with that testy square to power.

There is alot to like here, too. Just keep in mind the seeds now are going to grow, so is what you are growing really something you want to eat. There is also an out of sign trine to Sedna - pulling something we don't want to look at too closely into the mix, but also more mega-transformational energy and, again, something about RELYING ON OURSELVES.

I hope something here is helpful, although I am feeling that somehow it isn't. Libra is my 12th house, not so much a space designed for me to be able to see clearly. You might have to muddle through much of this one without me

:)

New Moon in Libra | October 8, 2018 - power imbalances, hard truths, holding ourselves together, planting the seeds of the old fruit, almost time to rebuild

The Catcher by Wonder Milky Girl

Some of today's post I am going to pull from MONDAY in the weekly, but some of it will be new. I thought, after re-reading yesterday's post last night, I might have colored it too darkly with my own current circumstances, so am going to break it down a bit differently here and we'll see if we end up in the same place or with a new vantage point.

The Moon entered Libra on Sunday night at 9:10PM EDT focusing us on Libran themes for the next couple days - partnerships, balance, justice, cooperation, diplomacy. Libra is the sign of relationship.

Before she meets the Sun at 15 degrees Libra (11:47PM EDT) she will square Saturn and trine the South Node (3 degrees), square Vesta (6 degrees), trine Black Moon Lilith (7 degrees) and trine Mars (9 degrees). Note she is doing all of this in the dark (balsamic moon phase) and in Libra she is answering to Venus, recently retrograded into the dark of Scorpio. There is stuff we don't know and can't see here.

The Moon's Capricorn squares today are us reaching limits, dealing with authority, hitting road blocks. The Moon's Aquarius trines (brakes off) speak of an easier time of it off the beaten path now. The Balsamic Moon is a natural time of endings and with the South Node in Aquarius those are supported now.

She met with Ceres on Sunday, still in play now, which I talked about in yesterday's post HERE. By the time the Moon meets the Sun tonight, this aspect will be waning. The power imbalances within our relationship/situation have been made clear to us (personally and collectively) as well as the things that are out of our hands and any mama-drama we are working through.

Everything is leading us - still in the dark - toward that Sun. Now, unlike other planets that get illuminated when they meet the Sun, the Moon, coming between the Earth and the Sun, blocks the Sun's light. And like other planets when she meets the Sun we get a new story. We get a mini re-set every month.

Because this is happening in Libra we look to our natal Libra house (15 degrees) for the kind of theme we will be working with personally. Then we consider the general Libra themes (relationship, partnership, balance, justice, women, beauty) and we consider what Libra's ruling planet is doing and where she is.

We want to keep in mind with Venus (ruling our desire nature) retrograde  - we could be wanting something we don't usually want. And with the Sun - remember it is the Sun's meeting with the Moon that creates the New Moon - moving toward a square with Pluto (ruling power, but also death/the finality of situations) on Friday - any big moves toward that thing we want could set energies into motion that cut off other options. We might want to carefully consider any big moves this week because they won't be so easily undone later.

That square to Pluto (and general theme of relationship and other people) could indicate the new from the New Moon is forced upon us, maybe not totally welcomed, and grown from the seeds of something that has reached a conclusion - which I guess new things always are, but maybe it is somehow more obvious here. Maybe we are working through a loss of power here. There could be further destruction before we can get to a place to rebuild - like when workers go into a rotten house and tear down the old walls before the new walls go up.

Or maybe we don't have the power to make the things happen we want to happen or to get what we want from the place we now stand.

Neptune is making an inconjunct (that rock and a hard place) to the Moon/Sun, so something involving a Neptunian theme - self-sacrifice, self-sabotage, illusion, delusion, connection - will not be easily reconciled here. It makes me think things may not be quite as we see them - possible not quite as scary or, with Neptune ruling the 12th house of the ethereal realms, just being handled by larger hands than ours. We could spend alot of time/energy working out something we don't actually have any control over anyway.

Remember the energies influence us in subtle and not so subtle ways. Our stories are always in flux. We always, always have the chance to start again with ourselves.

(Astrology forecasting is like predicting the weather. The weatherman can tell you it is going to rain today, but it up to you whether you change your plans, bring an umbrella or just decide to walk in it! Take what is helpful, toss the rest, the Moon is trining Black Moon Lilith and Mars today, so make your own choices)

So we move toward the New Moon on wobbly legs having been unbalanced by the last two weeks, five months, 8 years - who knows. The New Moon's chart, a launching pad, is a lunar reset. We get a fresh emotional start (remember the Moon is about our emotions) with that Libra theme! Let's not waste it - set those intentions!

Now here's the part that is a repeat from yesterday -

MONTHLY AFFIRMATION TIPS for the Libra New Moon:

What house holds Libra in your natal chart?

This is our annual opportunity to restore balance here. Who/what do we want to partner with?

Get grounded - we have moved from an earth sign into air so this is important - always make affirmations from a  positive place (positive meaning certain).

It is a good idea, since the New Moon is literally a blank sheet, to work in a clean, uncluttered space and maybe right after a bath or shower. Definitely when you are alone.

I used to write my affirmations on strips of paper and put them into a bowl of rice so I could mix them around every now and then with my fingers if things got stagnant. Then I decided to burn them. I have written them on rocks and buried them.

This month, I'm doing something I did a few weeks ago to line up with a specific thing that happened pretty effortlessly afterward -

I'm going to write my affirmations

(astrologer Jan Spiller recommends writing 10, but I have found myself stretching to do that or writing the same things every month which feels silly, so I have worked my way down to 3 which feels like a powerful number to me)

on my chalkboard while burning a white candle - when the candle burns out, all by itself - don't burn your house down - I erase the words first and then clean the blackboard with water.

Some people store them until the corresponding Full Moon (in this case during Aries season next April) and burn them then. Do what feels right.

I don't think it's terribly important what we do with our writings as long as we are not pulling them out and checking on them all the time. Setting intentions is like baking a cake - checking on how things are going just slows things down.

We are not handing a honey do list to the universe! We are lining up with the universal energies of creation here.

And I wouldn't be sharing them with other people, which also feels like it dilutes the process or pulls them into our story. I was writing them on my blog for a few months, as examples for people, and that definitely wasn't helpful.

Then - and this is the important part - release your attention from your words knowing your intention is known.

Know these things are already yours.

the astrology of the New Moon in Capricorn | December 23rd, 2022 - starting over at Christmas, pushed to leap, dealing with relationship imbalances

On Friday, December 23, 2022 at 5:16AM EST, the Capricorn Moon meets the Capricorn Sun at 1 degree giving us this month's New Moon - our annual New Moon in Capricorn.

Last year's New Moon in Capricorn was conjunct 22 degrees Cappy of 2020's "time runs out/power is cemented" infamy. This year we are going back to the very beginning - 1 degree Capricorn and asteroid Hygiea (our health asteroid, very prominent in the pandemic and the events of the last couple years) is EXACTLY conjunct the New Moon. I mean, we can't make this stuff up. This New Moon is EXACTLY squaring Ceres (a part of "time runs out" - she was conjunct Mercury, Pluto, Saturn and the Sun in mid-January 2020) and very tightly conjunct a square to Jupiter, moving through Aries for the second time - back to the beginning with SOMETHING.

There is mucho energy in Capricorn now (ruled by Saturn) - responsibility, stability, maturity, security, ambition, mastery - this is serious stuff. Can you feel the weight of everything that is happening in the world/in your own life - the seriousness of it all? Next week, the United States will have its third (and final) exact hit of the U.S. Pluto return (happening in Capricorn), Mercury will station retrograde (in Capricorn, Mercury is conjunct "time runs out" at the time of this New Moon), Venus will be in Capricorn - hitting degrees she retrograded over last year for the first time since her retrograde, Jupiter (U.S. ruling planet) is back in Aries. Can we say 'starting over'?

This is VERY potent energy.

Let's unpack the chart!

The Moon and Sun are conjunct at 1 degree Capricorn. The New Moon is EXACTLY conjunct asteroid Hygiea. The New Moon tightly squares Jupiter in Aries. The New Moon is EXACTLY squaring Ceres in Libra. So, we have a T-Square with the Moon/Sun the focal point and the empty leg in Cancer. Saturn rules this lunation from Aquarius. Both Jupiter and Saturn - our middle planets that connect our inner planets with the outer planets - are retracing their steps from earlier in the year. Jupiter in Aries is answering to a retrograde Mars who is about to be answering to a retrograde Mercury. Chiron stations direct in the hour before the New Moon.

This is alot, but feels rather neatly tied up with string as Cappy is prone to doing.

The New Moon is conjunct asteroid Hygiea (hygiene, health) - this is EXACT. Hygiea speaks of the ways we prepare for things to go well/to have good health. This often connects to our physical health. She is EXACTLY conjunct the New Moon/Sun and squaring Jupiter - this aspect is in the past, so something has recently GOTTEN BIGGER/expanded here - and she is squaring Ceres in Libra EXACT, so this might be connected to a partner/other person/child/contract. Maybe an imbalance in nurturing is hurting our health or whatever is happening within our relationship that is "outside our control" is. With Hygiea in Cappy our health is our wealth AND our wealth is our health. We are probably only as healthy as our bank account, those cans we have stacked in our cupboards, our fathers/maybe husbands, our careers/reputations, our security, our structure.

The New Moon squares Jupiter. We talked about this energy in the Solstice post HERE. Squares are tension/frustration. Often the friction that gets things moving. Jupiter is expansive energy, something needs to GROW. Considered lucky - this growth is how Jupiter gets lucky. We act generously. We act confidently. We act courageously. We believe we can do it/are lucky. We have FAITH. The downside with Jupiter is, being made entirely of gases, things here are not solid/not really real. So, there needs to be a connection with something REAL to make real things happen (like this New Moon's square). Jupiter's tendency to inflate also makes it easy to over-do something. Over-promise. In Aries, maybe take on too much. Squaring this New Moon in ambitious Cappy could make us overly focused on career, goals, security, safety, the-bottom-line. So, we are going to need to, yes, start something with this New Moon in Cappy energy - and, yes, it might connect to career, goals, security, the-bottom-line - without going too big or too fast. Mercury is in Cappy, too, and tends to create negative thinking, we see the dangers/dragons and he is on a HOT degree here and Mars - who is ruling Jupiter - is answering to her/him. We need to stay positive and have FAITH. Jupiter is in many ways providing just what is needed here and speaks of something here being or having the potential to be - a VERY BIG DEAL. With Jupiter in Aries we have to be open to new experiences/be able to pivot.

The New Moon squares Ceres in Libra. This one is EXACT. Ceres in Libra is about what is 'out-of-our-control' within our relationships. She is seeking balance here - maybe wants the give and take to be more even-steven/wants more peace/wants more beauty. Maybe there is over-nurturing or under-nurturing. Are we treating a partner like a child or are we being treated as such? Are we treating a child like a partner? Maybe we want too much or too little. Because again here is another square. More tension/frustration. This isn't intrinsically a bad thing - again, this is the friction that gets things moving. And, along with Jupiter, turns this whole thing into a Cardinal Square. SUPER POWERFUL ENERGY TO START. Adds turbo-boosters.

Ceres opposes Jupiter and remember it was their ability to structure a complicated compromise that once saved the world.

Saturn, the ruler of Capricorn and so the ruler of the New Moon is at 21 degrees Aquarius. Ancient ruler of Aquarius, he is strong here, so the rules, limits, boundaries, reality-checks are, too.

Keep in mind this chart shows how something is STARTING and how it will GROW.

If we follow the Moon through her days in Capricorn we see that after meeting the Sun, the Moon trines Uranus retrograde - the Sun won't do this until January 5th, so we won't get the physical manifestation of this for some time, but we get the feeling shortly after the New Moon (not necessarily through the same events). This is about us being comfortable with change/allowing change/easy updates and then in early January the change - which doesn't have to be the same change remember - happens/is illuminated. Then the Moon meets Venus and then Mercury. She does this tomorrow, but the Sun doesn't meet Mercury until January 7th and Venus is long gone. The Sun won't catch up with Venus until August. So, the news/information/conversations the New Moon promises and we may get a glimpse of on Christmas Eve are manifested near January 7th. The love/money/Venusian story with whatever is starting now is more complicated, requires patience. This isn't surprising with a Cappy New Moon. After meeting Venus and Mercury, the Moon sextiles Neptune (also on Christmas Eve), here is a kind of dreamy nostalgia, connection, the eggnog is flowing. Anytime we have Cappy/Pisces energy we can think about this as 'dream building'. There are lots of other things this energy is about - it can bring endings where things tend to drift off or old-age endings or endings of dreams/addictions/fantasy, etc. But when what we are building is rooted in reality, Neptune pulls in our intuition, imagination, creativity, universal love. The Sun will sextile Neptune on January 13th. Then finally, still on Christmas Eve, the Cappy Moon will go void at 10:10PM EST off her monthly meeting with Pluto (with Jupiter moved on, we will be back to many monthly lunations ending with intense Plutonian aspects). Something buried/raw/intense/honest. This can be a profoundly real moment to unearth something. FEELINGS ARE GOING TO COME OUT. This will be transformative. Then the Moon goes void and we have a chance to rest from all of this. Whew. The Sun reaches Pluto on January 18th and then a couple days later we will get the New Moon in Aquarius and start a new cycle.

So, the Moon's next couple days and the Sun's next month are giving us some idea of how what is STARTED NOW will grow to culmination/peak over the next 6 months when we will have the Capricorn Full Moon next summer.

This is also the day Chiron stations direct. This happens BEFORE the New Moon, so we get a direct Chiron with this fresh start. Chiron in Aries encourages us to be ourselves. To know we can take care of ourselves. To be brave. We might have to face very old wounds/vulnerabilities/hurts - and we have had time with this already since we are covering old degrees here - and MOVE FORWARD ANYWAY.

Short and sweet - SOMETHING IS STARTING OR STARTING OVER. This will be connected with your Cappy natal house theme or the collective themes of our goals, career, fathers, security, ambitions. With a Cardinal T-Square, this start WILL NOT BE STOPPED and might come with our backs against the wall (through what isn't working). Avoid going too big, too fast. Also avoid sitting on your ass when life is pushing you to do something. Keep in mind, Mercury is going to station retrograde next week in Cappy, so we are getting some extra time - which will likely come in the form of irritating delays and obstacles - to get this whole thing right.

The Solstice post covers much more about the Jupiter square and is HERE. This powerful FRESH START/STARTING OVER with this Jupiter square is a good thing, and for some people a very good thing - Jupiter can bring good outcomes to the most challenging circumstances/better outcomes than we can imagine - but almost certainly there is something in here about asking ourselves, "will this be too much for me?".

Hopefully Jupiter's journey through Pisces has given each of us some hope/faith in where we can go next even when we don't know the specifics yet. Just remember Jupiter's good luck will come through Saturn's hard work and that square to Ceres in Libra says we need to figure out how to work with whatever in our relationships/contracts "feels like it is outside our control" (probably connected to a loss) or whatever "season of life issue" or imbalanced nurturing is throwing everyone off their game - complicated compromises can be worked out now.

2023 is going to be a BIG year. We start the year with two personal planets retrograde, but by mid-January will have all systems GO for many weeks. Mars will be re-doing Gemini until March. In May everything starts to shift. Pluto, who has been in Capricorn since 2008, moves into Aquarius. 2023 will only give us a sneak peek of this transit, but is likely to have a major collective impact. Saturn, after many years strong in signs he rules, will drift into diluting Pisces, where he will eventually meet up with Neptune (not until 2026, so we will have lots of build up to this) which hasn't happened in 36 years. When Saturn moves into Pisces, Uranus in Taurus will break free of his chains to Saturn. Freedom, chaos, change, the future. Sedna, who has been in Taurus since 1965, heads into Gemini for a sneak-peek (I wrote about Sedna in some depth HERE, we will be talking about her alot next year). Many planets will be nearing or backtracking over the end of the signs they are in. Hail mary plays will be being tossed out all over the place, but change won't be stopped.

Lots of posts about 2023 coming up!

New Moon in Libra | September 28, 2019 - a major conclusion, a fresh start for relationships, doing it together, putting humpty dumpty back together again

On Saturday, September 28th at 2:27PM EDT, the Libra Moon meets the Libra Sun (at 5 degrees) giving us this month's New Moon.

Everything has been leading us - in the dark - toward that Sun. Unlike planets that get illuminated when they meet the Sun - the Moon, coming between the Earth and the Sun, blocks the Sun's light. The skies are dark. But, like the planets, when the Moon meets the Sun we get a new story. An emotional re-set.

Because this is happening in Libra we look to our natal Libra house (5 degrees) for the kind of theme we will be working with personally. Then we consider the general Libra themes (relationship, partnership, balance, justice, women, beauty) and we consider what Libra's ruling planet Venus is doing and where she is. And, finally, we look at the event chart for the time of the New Moon.

So, let's unpack the chart!

We can see the Sun and Moon snuggled up together. Mercury and Venus are past the New Moon. The news/information has come in. The conversation has been had. The impact on our relationships/money/values is visible, maybe starting to be felt. Our masculine/action energy, Mars, is behind the pack. Maybe it is too late now for certain actions. Our hand for this lunation has already been played.

Still plugging away in Virgo for a few more days. Mars met the Sun, and launched a new action cycle back on September 2nd (in Virgo) - he won't catch up to the Sun again until 2021!

(so, in some important ways we will be getting what we want by 'doing our Virgo' until THEN - making something smaller, focusing on the details, making a list, growing a backbone, doing our job, focusing on the details, taking care of our health, quality over quantity, doing what is right in front of us, washing the dishes, skipping the cake and eating the f'ng salad)

At the same time the planet Saturn is crossing the South Node (the past, our history, what is ripe for release) EXACTLY for the final time (third of three passes this year) in his home sign of Capricorn. Responsibilities. Commitments. People leaving as soul contracts complete. Karmic chickens coming home to roost. Weights that held us down, but also kept us grounded GONE. Large projects completing. The consequences of our past decisions/actions or in-actions (even from our past lives or the lives of our ancestors we have agreed to deal with). Something has reached the end of the line. We would have to be blind (and yes, that Jupiter/Neptune square we have had almost all year has kind of made us blind, so please no beating ourselves up here) NOT to have seen this coming.

Endings loom LARGE now. But keep in mind every ending is a beginning, too. The New Moon speaks of this most of all.

Libra is the sign of justice and balance and beauty and femininity and LOVE.

And Venus, ruler of this lunation is STRONG in her home sign.

Moving off her square to Saturn and the Nodes (reality check, karma, fate - in play, but separating) and now EXACTLY into a sextile (opportunity) with Jupiter, who is barely past his own square to foggy Neptune (again still in play, but separating).

The Venus sextile Jupiter speaks of good fortune/expansion. More love. Stronger connections.

The Moon/Sun are opposing Chiron at 5 degrees Aries. New beginnings have their roots in the projection of old hurts. Injuries to our self-esteem/ability to take care of ourselves or stand up for ourselves, to initiate or to get angry. We can see/feel our own woundings through other people now. This aspect, too, is separating.

The New Moon is also inconjunct Uranus, so a rock and a hard place with change. And this one isn't separating, but still to come. A shock. Surprise. Something unexpected. A need to adjust to more CHANGE.

Black Moon Lilith is conjunct Neptune in Pisces. This speaks of the ways the stuff we haven't wanted to look at/deal with factors in here. Or maybe we've been lied to. Maybe we've been banished in some way or it feels like banishment. Maybe our need to stand apart from the group (be independent, be special?) created a kind of cloudy thinking and caused our own exile. Regrets. Grief. Maybe feelings of isolation.

Sedna is conjunct Vesta in Taurus - look at all the bundles of two in the Libra New Moon chart - how appropriate for the sign that deals with relationships! Vesta rules what really, really matters (what we would stay up all night tending) and in Taurus speaks of our money/values/self-esteem, resources. Sedna is kind of the opposite in a way - the part of us that wants something to come easier than maybe it should be expected to come, that part of us who doesn't read the fine print. They are working together here.

Pallas is moving toward a trine with the North Node - she's in Scorpio now. Strategies with big money/with what we are merging/by going deep/by being honest - this is exact in a couple days.

And here's something interesting that I am not really sure what to make of - asteroid Isis and asteroid Humpty Dumpty (yes, there is an asteroid Humpty Dumpty?!) sit exactly with the New Moon today. Isis was the Egyptian Queen (married her brother) famous for putting her husband back together again (with some help) after he was literally ripped apart (limb by limb) by his brother. So, we have magical Isis putting her spouse back together (and then having a child with him or maybe putting him back together for their child - it's unclear to me) and Humpty Dumpty, who 'all the king's horses and all the king's men' couldn't put back together again .... draw your own conclusions here.

(Does this mean our efforts to put something/someone "back together again" are best accomplished TOGETHER rather than alone, like poor Humpty on that wall , I don't know, but I couldn't resist the opportunity to type the name Humpty Dumpty, so had to toss this in!)

An interesting chart. Plenty of air this month. Plenty of cardinal energy to start something new. Big endings. New partnerships/fresh starts. New love. Turning our focus toward the future. Take the time to think about, speak out loud and write down what you want!

Usually when you are alone, but this month it feels OK to partner up with this.

Some people store them until the corresponding Full Moon when they have fully ripened (in this case during the Libra Full Moon next spring) and burn them then.

Know these things are already yours.

weekly astrology forecast | September 19th to 26th, 2022 - all things Venus

A BIG week ahead.

On Sunday night we had Mercury retrograde opposing Jupiter retrograde and the Sun trining Pluto retrograde. BIG energy. Overwhelming. AND empowering. What came to light? What were WE feeling?  If we have taken on too much we will be feeling that now. BIG ideas are possible. Empowering situations. Old gold is being mined. It will be challenging to organize it with all the retrograde energy, but we could see it as being GATHERED.

This week is all about lovely VENUS (we can see her in Virgo with her hair tied back, diving into the nitty gritty) - our focus will be on our relationships, our money, our values, our self-esteem. The world comes into balance at the Equinox and in our own life we can see what is balanced and what is OUT OF BALANCE.

We start the week with Venus in harmony with Black Moon Lilith and wind things up with Luna's big New Moon in Libra answering to her. We will talk more about the week as we move through it. Keep in mind, Mercury, along with alot of other energy, is STILL retrograde (and Mars is answering to Mercury), so expect to do things twice, do two things at once, for people and situations from the past to be repeating themselves AND for things to take longer than you thought they would.

The delays are helping us.

The Nodes of Fate are at 15 degrees Scorpio/Taurus - a world point (and my ascendant/descendant) initiating changes that will last for 19 years. The Old World is dissolving and the New World is pulling us forward folks.

MONDAY - Venus sextiles Black Moon Lilith

TUESDAY - Venus trines Uranus, Venus inconjunct Saturn

THURSDAY - Sun enters Libra

FRIDAY - Mercury retrograde conjuncts the Sun and then backs into Virgo

SATURDAY - Venus opposes Neptune

SUNDAY - New Moon in Libra (2 degrees)

On MONDAY, Venus at 17 degrees Virgo sextiles Black Moon Lilith in Cancer

Here is a creative opportunity - sextiles require some kind of action - between the practical fixes/healing we are attracting and the womb wound/woman who chooses herself.  Maybe this comes through changes to our daily routine/work that value our need for freedom or that break old family patterns. This is two very different types of female energy in harmony.

On TUESDAY, Venus, at 18 degrees Virgo trines Uranus, retrograde in Taurus, and then inconjuncts Saturn, retrograde at 19 degrees Aquarius

Now Venus is in a smooth trine to Uranus. Surprises with love/money are possible. Venus is in "one thing at a time/one foot in front of the other", healing/fixing Virgo, so small changes are moving us forward. Small changes allow things to fall into place. This might also speak of liberating ourselves from Virgo perfectionism/judgement. Uranus is answering to Venus making the trine more powerful. Lean into something new. Something more liberating. More future-focused.

Immediately, Venus makes an awkward connection with sober Saturn, so we are reminded of our responsibilities, limits, sometimes our age. That's OK, the smooth trine with Uranus doesn't just disappear - and we are leaning into that.

This is also the day the Cancer Moon makes a sextile to the Virgo Sun - this month's Waning Sextile. Family care-taking, responsibilities, home business, family business, real estate, mothering issues all are in a creative opportunity with our daily life, work, health. Again this comes through Virgo's keen eye for detail, practical action, small fixes.

On THURSDAY/FRIDAY - after his empowering trine to Pluto on Sunday, the Sun crosses into Libra, an Aries point, ushering in a new season and quickly meets up with a retrograde Mercury. Alot of the Sun's Libra ingress/autumn equinox will be covered in the New Moon post later in the week, but the Sun's meeting with a retrograde Mercury is the halfway point of the Mercury retrograde cycle - yes, we are halfway there folks!

HERE/now is clarity about what this Mercury retrograde has been about.

After meeting the Sun - gathering whatever has 'come to light' - Mercury backs into Virgo, where we are going to figure out what to do with this information/how to make things better. How to fix things in practical ways, especially regarding our relationships and balance issues. We are re-working our habits.  We bring Mercury in Libra's ideas down to Earth.

We will talk more about this in the New Moon post before Thursday.

On SATURDAY - Venus, at 23 degrees Virgo opposes Neptune retrograde

Now, Venus, busy bee that she is, opposes Neptune, retrograde in Pisces. What we want can become less defined. Our boundaries more porous. We are communing with ghosts/with everything that has come before us.

We might find ourselves DROWNING in sacrifices - haven taken on too much with the repeating Mercury/Jupiters - or maybe excessive worrying. Neptunian challenges can speak of exhaustion, so maybe our girl needs a NAP.

Pencil that in, wait, not pencil, it's Saturday, use permanent ink.

Oppositions can bring endings/culminations. With Neptune situations can fade away/drift away. On the other hand, Neptune brings imagination/magic to Venus in Virgo's practical routine, opens the door for muses, intuition and inspiration. Just keep in mind with Neptune, everything we are seeing isn't real. Things can look better or worse than they actually are. Venus in Virgo is grounded energy, but if she is TIRED, an escape route will present itself now, maybe in the form of a Piscean/Neptunian person who wants to play/a water or art activity, or we get waylaid by a cold/virus, etc.

Also keep in mind the effects of drugs/alcohol, medication, any escape tendencies we have is compounded now.

On SUNDAY - the Libra Moon meets the Libra Sun at 2 degrees giving us an early New Moon in Libra. I love an early degree New Moon, where we get to start at the actual beginning - this one our annual Libra New Moon collectively focused on our relationships, need for balance, fairness, peace. The New Moon in Libra is answering to ... you guessed it ... Venus.

We will talk about this in its own post.

New Moon in Libra Opposite Uranus | freedom to be yourself within your relationships, need for space, meeting someone unusual, existing balances are disrupted

Time against Sunset by hellolikegoodbye

The Sun and Moon meet up this afternoon, 3:12 PM EDT, at 26 degrees Libra. They will be exactly opposing Uranus at 26 degrees Aries.

This is powerful fresh start energy focused on our relationships (and the polarity themes of your natal Aries and Libra houses) - how do we remain true to ourselves, and express our authenticity and independence, within new and existing partnerships.

A new person could come into our lives (likely under unusual circumstances or the person will be unusual in some way) or a current relationship could get a fresh start.

This is a Libra New Moon ruled by Venus - it is not so much about breaking relationships bonds (although it could be) as it is about breaking stifling stereotypes and limits.

Whatever space within ourselves we have been squashing to please someone else is about to make an appearance and things that have been squashed don't always look so pretty. Venus likes to keep things pretty and it is her Moon, but Uranus is pushing another agenda. And it's one where we get to be ourselves within our relationships (Libra has great say here, too). This doesn't mean all by ourselves in the corner!

The Sun and Moon are conjunct asteroid Karma. Fresh starts and new beginnings have extra significance. Whatever is happening now probably has extra significance.

So, we've got this New Moon in beatific and balanced Libra wanting something new and balanced for us and this aspect to Uranus adding something jolting, surprising and dare I say liberating into the mix.

New developments could hit quickly, maybe from totally out of the blue and likely disrupt existing balances.

This opposition can also represent an actual person or group or system with Uranian qualities (think : genius, rebel, criminal) or maybe someone we are dealing with through the internet since Uranus rules that space, who is literally standing in our way.

This is wild-card energy. It could spark an uncharted direction for us or create abrupt change.

It could push/pull/drop kick us toward greater freedom. It could even empower us with a "cause".

Ruts can be escaped. Think about what would need to happen in your own life to create these kind of changes and then expect ... something else to happen. Ack!

You will feel this energy strongest if you have any planets or points in cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn) near 26 degrees.

We have had Uranus in Aries for the last few years determined to wake us up individually. With this energy exactly touching the balance-seeking Libra New Moon energy today - maybe we can be waking up in tandem with other people now!

So we kick off whatever change is kicking off THEN we move toward finding balance. Fast starts require imbalance - think about the way runners standing at the starting line are all LEANING FORWARD. There is a reason they do that, but if they didn't MOVE and just continued to hold that position they would eventually fall on their faces, right?

Don't think too far ahead. Can we just open ourselves to new connections without worrying where all this is leading? Uranus says, "yes, try that for a change".

Here's a rundown by sign. If you know your natal Libra house check that - check your Sun and Rising sign and we could all resonate a bit with Aries since the theme is universal.

As always use what helps and toss the rest. Don't take my word for it since I am not looking at your individual chart and can't be guaranteed to know what I am talking about anyway. Your life is your own - especially with Uranus opposing the Sun and Moon.

ARIES (Libra 7th house) - a new relationship could be unexpected, an existing relationship could be shaken by unexpected circumstances. Mars is moving into this space on Sunday making this even more of a focus but giving you the energy to deal with it. This house is ruled by Libra you will likely need to cooperate.

TAURUS (Libra 6th house) - a new work obligation, co-worker, change in routine or change with your health could be unexpected or something within these existing themes is shaken by unexpected (or previously hidden) circumstances. Mars is moving into this space on Sunday making this even more of a focus but giving you the energy to deal with it. This house is ruled by Virgo you will likely need to cross your t's and dot your i's and focus on the details.

GEMINI (Libra 5th house) - a new romance, children's issues, pregnancy or creative project could be unexpected or something within these existing themes is shaken by unexpected circumstances. MONTHLY AFFIRMATION TIPS:
Get grounded - we have moved from an earth sign into air so this is important - always make affirmations from a  positive place (positive meaning certain).

It is a good idea, since the New Moon is literally a blank sheet, to work in a clean, uncluttered space and maybe right after a bath or shower. Alone is probably best. Doing this with someone else, even when you appear to have the same agenda, could dilute your own personal best outcome (which is the only thing you have any power with here).

I used to write my affirmations on strips of paper and put them into a bowl of rice so I could mix them around every now and then with my fingers if things got stagnant. Last year I decided to burn them. I have written them on rocks and buried them.

This month I'm going to write my affirmations

(astrologer Jan Spiller recommends writing 10, but I have found myself stretching to do that or writing the same things every month which feels silly, so I have worked my way down to 3 which feels like a powerful number to me)

on my chalkboard while burning a white candle - when the candle burns out, all by itself - don't burn your house down - I erase the words first and then clean the blackboard with water.

Some people store them until the corresponding Full Moon (in this case during Aries season) and burn them then. Do what feels right.

I don't think it's terribly important what we do with our writings as long as we are not pulling them out and checking on them all the time.

Know these things are already yours.

xo all

The Moon goes void after the New Moon so wait until at least 9:41PM EDT tonight to do your intentions or until you see a sliver of Moon in the sky (can be tricky with weather). The Moon will be in alignment with fortuitous Jupiter for the next couple days, so get this done!

New Moon in Pisces Conjunct Chiron | Mars into Capricorn - beginning from a weak position, something hurts, feeling vulnerable, turning a weakness into a strength, mining that Scorpio, getting serious about our next steps

connective by dozhdlivaya

Today, we have Mars moving into Capricorn (finally leaving Sagittarius!) where he is exalted. We have the Sun and Moon meeting up in Pisces, squaring Mars (at the very end of Sag) and hooking up to Chiron while trining that retrograde Jupiter in Scorpio.

Let's start with Mars, although he makes his move last.

Mars is extremely effective in Capricorn (answering to Saturn), kind of the way a hot-head tossed into the serious, structure of the military can thrive. In Capricorn, our Mars has goals and deadlines - he can't be just mucking around town causing trouble.

Our actions (Mars) are ambitious (Capricorn). Results come over time.

Now, we know Capricorn is a serious (maybe I would add dangerous) space right now because both Pluto and Saturn are in Capricorn.

Our Mars (actions - what we do to get what we want, anger, passion) is going to hit Saturn on April 2nd (8 degrees Capricorn) - there's that wall, that limit, that "no" or that extra elbow grease required via our action. Then on April 26th (21 degrees Capricorn), Mars is going to come crashing into Pluto - destruction, transformation, new life. The last time Mars conjuncted Pluto was October 19, 2016 (15 degrees). Late April's situations could connect us back to that time period. Also because this is just one degree shy of the HUGE Pluto/Saturn conjunction in 2020 - this Mars/Pluto now will have added impact.

As soon as Mars moves into Capricorn 12:41PM EST today - we are on a collision course with this, so let's remember our actions/ambitions have consequences.

I mean, obviously our actions (and in-actions) always have consequences, but that future meeting with Pluto adds an extra priority for us to know what the hell we are doing right now.

If you know you are going to be meeting with the largest potential client you have ever had, or the president of your company, or a judge in precisely SIX WEEKS (well, not precisely I am rounding a bit) - what would you do today and tomorrow and the next day to make that meeting successful.

Do that. And then do some more of that. Know that Saturn will toss you a curveball (limit) in a couple weeks with whatever you are being ambitious about.

Know you can handle it.

Ambitions/goals and focused efforts are required in Capricorn - let's make them count - let's focus on what matters most! There's is alot of ruthlessness expressed by Mars/Pluto - let's avoid participating in that. The collective needs us to not give our energy to that. We are following our hearts in Leo, giving what we are here to give. What's truly ours has to be ours. We won't have to grab it.

We will probably have to work for it though (Capricorn).

Now, immediately BEFORE Mars makes his move, the Sun and the Moon meet up for the NEW MOON IN PISCES at 26 degrees.

This is a fresh start for our Pisces house and coming near the end of the Sun's travels through Pisces we know we have needed to experience all the fog/indecision/illness - whatever this has been for you - of the last few weeks before we were ready for this new start. So what have we learned?

The Sun and Moon are conjuncting Chiron so we know something now is likely to hurt/heal.

There is a trine to Jupiter, retrograde in Scorpio, so this could be about something there (a change of belief maybe) or maybe something about poor decisions we made in the past. Whatever is happening now, our New Moon fresh start could be rooted in a point of weakness - and maybe that is the point now. After we are on our knees we might as well rise up and move in a new direction. There is a wide square to Mars (pre-Capricorn) that could suggest some kind of righteous anger (those beliefs again) or something/someone hitting (Mars) an open wound (Chiron).

Let's take a look by sign.

As always check your Sun and Rising signs - if you know your Pisces house check that because it might not match your Rising - I am forced to use whole houses here, although I am not really a fan of whole houses when looking at charts.

ARIES/Aries Rising (Pisces 12th house) - this New Moon is happening in your 12th house of what is hidden or put away or done behind the scenes, secrets, the ethereal realms, imagination, hospitals, spirituality, addiction, healing. The New Moon's beginning energy may be more about whatever is coming to a conclusion (12th house) and could involve stepping into the unknown. The trine to Jupiter (in your 8th house) suggests there could be financial/intimacy situations with other people and other people's resources you can count on now. The square to Mars (in your 9th house) suggests tension regarding your actions involving 9th house matters - travel, higher education, weddings, politics, legal issues, the media, publishing, foreigners, everything outside your comfort zone, exploration, your beliefs and higher thinking. Right after the New Moon, Mars will move your focus into your career/public life house. Use your ambitions there. Focus your actions there. Avoid ruthlessness. Know that Chiron is preparing to move into your sign (first visit since 1968!) in just a few weeks and you are preparing for a brand new life Aries. You have got this thing!

TAURUS/Taurus Rising (Pisces 11th house) this New Moon is happening in your house of the collective - your friendships, groups, causes, the internet, the public, the goals that bring you into relationship with other people, your advancement, technology. The New Moon's beginning energy is focused on a fresh start here with new alliances and opportunities. The trine to Jupiter (your 7th house Scorpio) assures that a partner/partnership is supportive (brakes off) with whatever is happening now or maybe who you know is more helpful than what you know. The square to Mars (your 8th house Sagittarius) speaks of tension with other people's resources - partner's income, taxes, loans, etc and/or intimacy/reproduction/birth/death issues - the Sun/Moon in your 11th house could make the situation 'public' in some way or bring you into relationship with other people or people at a distance. Right after the New Moon, Mars shifts your efforts toward your Capricorn house (your 9th house) - travel, higher education, weddings, politics, legal issues, the media, publishing, foreigners, everything outside your comfort zone, exploration, your beliefs and higher thinking. One or more of these themes is where you will be ambitious. Focus your efforts there. Avoid ruthlessness. Know that Uranus is preparing to visit your sign for a long stretch beginning in May (he will retrograde back out for a bit later in the year) - so expect the unexpected - and I know you, of all people, will hate that expression Taurus (being an Aquarius Sun/Scorpio rising - both fixed signs, too - I feel your pain here - ack!). You have got this thing!

GEMINI/Gemini Rising (Pisces 10th house) this New Moon is happening in your 10th house of your career, your calling, your achievements, your achievement goals, dad, business, authority, responsibility. The New Moon's beginning energy is focused on a fresh start here and is likely to carry some kind of painful recognition now. The trine to Jupiter (your 6th house Scorpio) assures assures that re-working situations involving your day-to-day actions, or actions you have taken toward improving your health/health of a creative project, etc will be what you can count on moving forward. The square to Mars (your 7th house Sag) speaks of tension with a partner, maybe a competitor or open enemy. Right after the New Moon, Mars shifts your efforts toward your Capricorn house (your 8th house) other people's resources, other people's values, intimacy, other people's money, spouse's income, loans, debts, taxes, inheritance, sex, reproduction. One or more of these themes is where you will be ambitious. This is also good energy for research and getting to the bottom of things. Focus your efforts there. Avoid ruthlessness. You have got this thing!

CANCER/Cancer Rising (Pisces 9th house) this New Moon is happening in your 9th house of travel, higher education, weddings, politics, legal issues, the media, publishing, foreigners, everything outside your comfort zone, exploration, your beliefs and higher thinking. The New Moon's beginning energy is focused on a fresh start here and is likely to carry some kind of painful recognition now. The trine to Jupiter (your 5th house Scorpio) assures that re-working situations involving children, a creative project, romance, fun and games is moving things forward. Note trines are "brakes off" times, so too much of a good thing in any of these areas (this house can speak of excess) could bring things to a head now, too. The square to Mars (your 6th house Sag) speaks of tension regarding your day-to-day activities, your work, health or a pet situation. Right after the New Moon, Mars shifts your efforts toward your Capricorn house (your 7th house) - partners/partnerships. This is where you will be ambitious. Focus your efforts there. Avoid ruthlessness. Your 7th house Capricorn wants/needs serious people. And it's time to get serious about what you want within an equal partnership (work, love, friendship). You have got this thing!

LEO/Leo Rising (Pisces 8th house) this New Moon is happening in your 8th house of other people's resources, other people's values, intimacy, other people's money, spouse's income, loans, debts, taxes, inheritance, sex, reproduction. The New Moon's beginning energy is focused on a fresh start here and is likely to carry some kind of painful recognition now. The trine to Jupiter (your 4th house Scorpio) assures that re-working situations involving home, family, your roots, mother, mothering, your ancestry, real estate or a home business issue can move things forward - maybe you have more than you think you do. The square to Mars (your 5th house Sag) speaks of tension regarding a romantic partner, issue with a child or maybe some kind of risky behavior/endeavor feeding into the New Moon's hurt/healing. Right after the New Moon, Mars shifts your efforts toward your Capricorn house (your 6th house) - it will be time to get organized and focus on your day-to-day actions and your health. Practical actions and attention to detail is needed now. Patience Leo. You have got this thing!

VIRGO/Virgo Rising (Pisces 7th house) this New Moon is happening in your 7th house of partners and partnership. The New Moon's beginning energy is focused on a fresh start here and is likely to carry some kind of painful recognition now. The trine to Jupiter (your 3rd house Scorpio) assures that forward movement comes through communication, information, writing, siblings, transportation or your local neighborhood. Most likely a conversation with a partner is a good idea although it could lead to argument - this is a Pisces fresh start - speak with compassion. The square to Mars (your 4th house Sag) speaks of tensions with home and family situations. There could be a situation from the past (4th house) that needs a pivot/release even if it hurts. With Mars headed into Capricorn and answering to Saturn - there won't be a quick fix and getting angry/more passionate about the situation isn't going to speed up the process. Right after the New Moon, Mars shifts your efforts toward your Capricorn house (your 5th house) creative projects, your self-expression, what you give birth to, children, romance and recreation. This is Leo's house - so move toward what your heart wants Virgo. This is where you will be ambitious. Focus your efforts there. Avoid ruthlessness. You have got this thing!

LIBRA/Libra Rising (Pisces 6th house) this New Moon is happening in your 6th house of day-to-day activities, your routine, work, co-workers, pets and your health. The New Moon's beginning energy is focused on a fresh start here and is likely to carry some kind of painful recognition now. The trine to Jupiter (your 2nd house Scorpio) assures that re-working your approach to your money, resources, values, self-esteem can create forward movement. The square to Mars (your 3rd house) speaks of tensions via a conversation, communication, information or possibly through a sibling or transportation or local community issue. That square to the 6th house could mean an argument around an error (the house of crossing your t's and dotting your i's) or imbalance within a work/health situation. Right after the New Moon, Mars shifts your efforts toward your Capricorn house (your 4th house) and a home, family, your roots, mother, mothering, your ancestry, real estate or a home business situation. This is where you will be ambitious. Focus your efforts there. Avoid ruthlessness. You have got this thing!

SCORPIO/Scorpio Rising (Pisces 5th house) this New Moon in your 5th house of creative projects, your self-expression, what you give birth to, children, romance and recreation. The New Moon's beginning energy is focused on a fresh start here and is likely to carry some kind of painful recognition now. The trine to Jupiter (retrograde in your 1st house) assures that the reinvention of yourself is what is creating the forward movement now. The square to Mars (your 2nd house Sag) - your money, values, resources, self-esteem - speaks about tensions surrounding your security and the spaces of "not enough" that you think are holding you back. Right after the New Moon, Mars shifts your efforts toward your Capricorn house (your 3rd house) - communication, information, writing, learning, siblings, transportation or your local neighborhood. This is where you will be ambitious. This is where serious efforts will pay off over time. Focus your efforts here. Avoid ruthlessness. You have got this thing!

SAGITTARIUS/Sagittarius Rising (Pisces 4th house) this New Moon is happening in your 4th house of home, family, your roots, mother, mothering, your ancestry, real estate or a home business. The New Moon's beginning energy is focused on a fresh start here and is likely to carry some kind of painful recognition now. The trine to Jupiter (retrograde in your 12th house) assures the re-working of something via "letting the situation flow/evolve", let go and let God would create the easiest forward movement. You can't push your way to a better outcome via the 12th house. The square to Mars (your 1st house Sag) speaks of tension between yourself/your beliefs and the home/family situation. Right after the New Moon, Mars shifts your efforts toward your Capricorn house (your 2nd house) moving your efforts toward your money, resources, values and self-esteem. The square to Mars (your 11th house Sag) speaks of tension within your house of the collective - your friendships, groups, causes, the internet, the public, the goals that bring you into relationship with other people, your advancement, technology. Maybe something that comes to light here creates the "not enough" Piscean vulnerability. Right after the New Moon, Mars shifts your efforts toward your Capricorn house (your 12th house) moving your efforts toward background issues, a healing situation or toward a 12th house time-out. The 12th house rules what is hidden or put away or done behind the scenes, secrets, the ethereal realms, imagination, hospitals, spirituality, addiction, healing. This is where you will be ambitious - maybe ambitiously inactive or making art, dreaming or catching up on some sleep! This is where serious efforts will pay off over time. Focus your efforts here. Avoid ruthlessness. You have got this thing!

NEW MOON AFFIRMATIONS

This moon is 26 degrees Pisces, affecting those born with planets at about 23-29 degrees of the mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces) most strongly (high emotions).

This is an excellent time for energetic support to make changes with things ruled by Pisces including our imagination, compassion, releasing victim-hood, spiritual healing, sensitivity, trust, addictions, lymphatic system, colds, feet, toxicity.

Some affirmations that I have used for a Pisces New Moon include:

1. I easily relax my mind and body deeply at night for a minimum of seven hours of restful sleep.
2. All debilitating sensitivity is easily lifted from me.
3. I trust that everything that occurs in my life is working for my higher good.
4. I easily attract, recognize and begin attending the right yoga class for me.
5. I easily release the habit of procrastination.
plus 5 more - Jan Spiller advises the power of 10 with this.

(notice I always like to toss in the word "easily"!)

AFFIRMATION TIPS: get into a positive frame of mind - meaning both happy and certain - a quiet, clean space where you can be alone - write your affirmations down by hand in script, speak them out loud - for a watery New Moon I will write my affirmations on strips of paper and burn them, releasing the ashes into moving water - then let's release our attention from these things knowing that our intention is known.

Know these things are already yours. xo
